It's now just Graphics  workspace.

And we don't have the Essential Graphics as a separte panel, they've rebuilt so the Properties panel is where you change/set properties. It's totally "context aware" which is confusing at first.

So ... select a mogrt on the sequence, the Properties panel just shows the position/size/center points.

Click on some object in that mogrt in the Program panel, suddenly the Properties panel shows what we saw in the EGP, and all the controls, layer stack, everything are

Thanks for clearing up the relocation gotcha's when it comes to accessing properties via the properties panel. Hoping y'all can also help with what I and some others seem to be dealing with... newly restricted functionality when it comes to building .mogrts in AE.

The selling point of "Essential Properties" was that you could define certain controls and properties that you wanted to elevate and access via a single PreComp layer. I understand that this is still functioning correctly (albeit now accessed through the "Properties" panel).

**What seems to have LOST support is the ability to bring those elevated Essential Properties from that single Precomp layer and then add them to a .mogrt via the Essential Graphics panel.**

Regardless of whether I'm selecting those properties in the Properties Panel, or via the Essential Properties twirldown on my PreComp, neither allows me to drag/add to the Essential Graphics panel. It's greyed out, and when an attempt at manuall dragging them in is made, we're met with a new error message:

In many cases you could simply create the .mogrt from within the original Comp (the same place you set up the original propeties). However, there are plenty of times where this is not possible/ideal. For example, I have a bunch of controls rigged up for a .mogrt, and I'd like to add an overall "Scale All" functionality. Because of all the heavy expressions in there,  I can't simply link things to a null without stuff breaking. Instead, I'd rather precomp the whole setup, and add a scale control to the precomp instead. Much easier, and what I used to do... but now can't.

Does anyone have any intel on whether this is actively being fixed/developed? Any workarounds in the meantime? The change has unfortunately affected the 50+ .mogrt deliverables I owe my client and severly limits what's possible in terms of creating new .mogrts in the future.

Thanks in advance!

Any thoughts about the mogrt issues?

I have never added essential properties from a subcomp to trhe Essential Graphics panel this way. I've always added them from the subcomp directly, which works as expected. I have not had any issues with this.

This change seems like a step backward. For instance, I can't copy and paste effects settings to different text blocks now that the text controls don't show up in the effects control panel. I can't see the x and y axis numbers either. Very much not a fan of this change. Does anyone know why when I click on my caption block it no longer lets me see the x and y axis nor copy and paste settings?

@defaultu65pwon4mw4n,

Regarding effect controls, you could not use the effect controls on a caption track item before this update.

How do I regain the ability to change the x and y axis of a caption block?

The Properties panel is where "we" control all graphic items now. It is tricky and puzzling, as the availability of any control is based on exactly what is currently selected in the Program monitor.

Maybe @Stan Jones or someone will give better advice.

The Properties panel must be open (but not necessarily in focus) when you click on a caption. You may need to update any custom workspaces. The same controls are there.

Same issue... with the update I can't replace the place holder from an existing MORGT rendering it completely useless.  It used to give me the option to open it in it's own timeline to replace the content with my own... now it only allows me to add it via a local file.  I'm not exporting clips just to re-add them to the timeline... that's way to much time wasted for what worked just fine before.

I'm not quite understanding your post. It sounds like you are still replacing the placeholder  ... correct?

I'm not understanding the export to reimport part.

Sure, I have a zoom transition MOGRT and to operate it you would open it in Essential Graphics and replace the placeholder video with one in your timeline via copy/paste.  With this new system even though there is a placeholder drop down the only option it gives me to replace the placeholder is to upload from my local folder.

This means I would have to trim the footage I want the transition on, export it to create a video file by itself and then upload it to the placeholder.   I uploaded the video tutorial for this particular MOGRT for reference.   And here is what I see when I attempt the same functions in this updated version of Premiere.

No option.pngexpand image

No option to open the MOGRT in the timeline to copy paste the footage I want to add the transition to.
I can only maybe export the clips then drag them back into the timeline via my local browser which adds extra unneeded steps.

@TCA5EB3,

Not an expert on these issues, but I see what you see IF the image in the Mogrt is not in my project separate from the Mogrt. I can drag a replacement from the Project Panel, and then I get the option to open in timeline.

I do not know if there has been any change in this method. I tested in PR 25.0.0 and PR Beta 25.2.0.91. And I tested only with a still image replacement.

That's a lot of clicking to acheive a simple transition. Wouldn't it be faster and easier to just make subclips and drag them to two placeholders in the MOGRT?

Okay, you just helped me figure this out, thank you.  I didn't even realize you can drag clips from your project folder to the placeholder... So I'm grabbing the two clips, timing them to the length of the transition and nesting them... then dragging the nest to the placeholder.  Problem solved.

Thank you, Jarle (and Stan technically)!!
