HELP: BRAW Studio Filter Offline

I have been using Black Magic's Braw plugin for some time, but after a recent uninstall/reinstall of the plugin, I am receiving this error: Braw Problem.JPG

I am using Premiere 24.0.3 and Braw Player 3.4.

I am not interested in using Autokroma, as it has been responsible for several crashes mid-project.

Any idea?

Thank you!!

Just a note for anyone else with this issue in the future -

I opened up Premiere Beta and the plug-in works there, so I'm using that for now.

Hello,

Sorry I'm a bit late on this one, but in case it happens again:

First we fixed some crashes which happened in BRAW Studio 3.1.4. The crashes you experienced should be fixed now.

The "Source Settings" is an effect attached to a RAW kind of plugin, to apply parameters (like White balance, exposure, etc..) when decoding the footage. So like R3DRAW has its R3D Source Settings, BRAW needs also a Source Settings effect on it, and is automatically added to an imported clip.

Interesting. As pesonally, I had constant issues with the BM one ... among them, every few days, I got this, and had to uninstall, reboot, reinstall.

I've not had a single issue with the Autokroma one. Curious what the problems were! And did you work with Nicholas and Autokroma on those issues, curious about your experience with their help.

That's what I've heard, which is why I originally switched over to the AutoKroma plugin a few months ago. With the recent update in Premiere, Autokroma seemed to have some problems. I had been toying around with different settings in the meta data and upon switching one of the values (I fail to remember which), Premiere crashed.

I hadn't had any issues with the BM plugin so I reverted back. Then this problem.

Did you talk to Nicholas or anyone at Autokroma? They even support the BM freebie in Premiere better than BM does.

I did not, if I opt to use that plugin in the future, I most certainly will.

Personally, the setting that I need are most easily accessed in the BM version. It was just the crashing that put me in a position to just switch back. ( its quite a process with work computers, admin permissions and such.)

Yeah, kind of a pain. Still, the Autokroma site has the best papers on using the BM plugin and issues that may happen, last I looked early in the summer. Might check there.

As mentioned in other comments, there are 2 different plugins to import BRAW files in Premiere Pro : the Blackmagic RAW plugin and BRAW Studio (article with differences here). When you start a project with one plugin, your imported BRAW Project Items will have a "Source Settings" effect attached to it. As each plugin has its own effect, if you switch plugins at the middle of a project, there will be issues because of this "Source Settings" effect which can't be converted automatically by Premiere Pro. That's why we implemented 2 tools in the BRAW Studio panel to convert your project from one plugin to another in both ways.

Blackmagic RAW Plugin -> Autokroma BRAW Studio Plugin

  • Install BRAW Studio and say "Yes" when it asks if you want to uninstall the Blackmagic RAW Plugin.
  • Open an empty project, open the BRAW Studio Panel (top menu -> window -> extensions)
  • Go to the Toolbox Tab and convert your project by using the "Convert Project from BMD to BRAW Studio" tool

Autokroma BRAW Studio Plugin -> Blackmagic RAW Plugin

  • Let BRAW Studio installed, and open the BRAW Studio Panel (top menu -> window -> extensions)
  • Go to the Toolbox Tab and convert your project by using the "Convert Project from BRAW Studio to BMD" tool
  • Uninstall BRAW Studio (uninstaller can be found in the folder when downloading BRAW Studio)
  • Install the Blackmagic RAW Plugin

Best,

Nicolas from Autokroma
