PCM audio from FiLMiC Pro on Mac gets sound output failing after a few minutes of use

Hi,

I've been experiencing this issue for months now (since September 2017 at least) and it is very frustrating. If I record video using FiLMiC Pro on an iPhone and select PCM as the audio format, after editing perfectly well in Premiere 12.0.1 on my MacBook Pro running High Sierra for the first few minutes, suddenly all audio output in Premiere dies. Meters stop moving, and nothing is audible through speakers.

If I quit Premiere and reopen it - audio playback is restored for a few minutes, then it will just cut out again.

My video plays back perfectly in every other editors I've tried (Resolve; FCPX; iMovie; LumaFusion; Vegas) - it is only Premiere that results in the audio output dying - so it is definitely a bug. I've heard from many other shooters that they have the same issue, and only transcoding to another audio format such as AAC does the trick - but this is a real hassle and shouldn't be required.

Any word on a fix? Or a way to solve the issue?

I have the same problem.

Using FiLMiC Pro footage shot with PCM at 24fps, 48kHz,

Clips transferred to an iXpand drive from my iPhone 7Plus then imported to my Windows 10 Home 1803

All clips play fine and DO have audio when played outside of Premiere Pro 12.1.1 (Build 10)

Cleared all Cache both manually in AppData and from Preferences. Didn't work.

Some clips have wave-forms, some don't. Some audio works for a second then cuts out and dies.

I never had audio quality issues like this before with my Nikon D7000 footage. Just video quality issues.
Is PCM the problem? Any way to save the audio?

Can you post a link to a sample?

Same issue. Audio playback works fine for a while, then eventually clip by clip, it all just drops to nothing.

Versions

Premiere Pro 12.1.1

Filmic Pro 6.3.10

Footage Settings in Filmic Pro

Video Capture: 24 Capture FPS

Audio Capture: PCM, 48 kHz

Gets capture into Premiere as

Type: MPEG Movie

Frame Rate: 24.00

Source Audio Format: 48000 Hz - compressed - Stereo

Project Audio Format: 48000 Hz - 32 bit floating point - Stereo

Supposedly this was supposed to have been fixed in a previous premiere version, but that's not my experience.

I have the same problem and I posted a thread too. But no one seems to know the answer to this.

I have similar issue above.

1) audio plays fine outside of PP

2) updated PP and restarted

3) audio plays sometimes, other times not

4) sometimes waveforms show up, sometimes not

5) tried clearing cache and %appdata% commonold fix

6) audio from sony camera works fine within the same project

7) tried entering a chat, but for this problem only forum available

8) judging by other threads, not a new problem

9) Proxy files do not fix problem

Break through

Sent same message to filmic pro. Hopefully they know of a fix. Used DaVinci and all Filmic Pro audio is there!

Adobe, please help.
