Hi guys,
after the update to CC2018 Premiere Pro keeps flooding my HD with .pek files.
I found out how to tell Premiere not to write .cfa aduio files, but i could not figure out how to do the same thing for the .pek files.
My project has doubled in size since i updated. And this is just because of the .pek files.
I did not have these problems with CC2017. Maybe it has to do with the issue that i can not sync my settings from the cloud anymore.
Any ideas?
Hi,
I had this same problem, only after updating to CC 2018, I noticed all these .pek and .cfa files cluttering up beside my footage.
I found out how to correct this.
Under Edit>Preferences>Media Cache, uncheck the box that says "Save .cfa and .pek media cache files next to original media files when possible."
Typically, it probably diverts all cache files to the cache folder. I'm not sure why they would change this, it really clutters up your footage archive.
Hope this helps!

You can turn off automatic .pek file generation (waveforms) under Edit>Preferenecs>Audio...
(They will still be created when playing back that audio. No way to disable that.)
