Premiere Pro 25.4.1: Heavily Pixelated Footage (Moiré Effect) on Timeline - Desktop Specs Provided

Hello everyone,

I've just started using Premiere Pro 25.4.1 and am encountering a rather perplexing issue. After importing several HD video clips, when I drag them onto the timeline, the footage appears heavily pixelated, almost like a moiré effect. The source footage is HD (1920x1080) at 30 frames per second, and my project sequence settings match this exactly.

Here are my desktop specifications:

  • Operating System: Windows 11
  • Processor: Intel Core i9-14900 @ 2 GHz
  • RAM: 64 GB
  • Graphics Card: 128 MB (dedicated)
  • Storage: 954 GB (available)

Given the generous amount of RAM and the high-end processor, I'm quite baffled by this visual degradation.

Has anyone else experienced a similar problem with footage appearing pixelated on the timeline, particularly resembling a moiré effect? What could possibly be the cause, or are there any settings I should be looking at within Premiere Pro or my system that might alleviate this?

Any insights or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks

Thank you so much for your suggestions, Ann. I've just realised my current desktop has no graphics card (I won't bother you with the details), hence the issue.

Thank you again for your support. Have a good day.

That is not Moire.  Moire looks quite different

Try updating to 25.5

Make sure your graphics card has the most current driver (Nvidia STUDIO Driver)

What is the origin of your clips.
