Changes I NEED in Premiere

Here to Vent because I've been using Premiere for 3ish years daily, and on and off for 5 more than that.

  1. I want to be able to set up a personalized default (channel volume, sequences on start, bins, etc.)
  2. 2I NEED to be able to save custom caption settings that automatically start there OR have multiple saved so I can pick it at the beginning of project (no just save in project)
  3. I should be able to have all caption tracks visable, don't force me to pick one, i know what I'm doing let me use them all

These are my main issues that I rage about every day of my life, maybe I haven't found a way to do these things so If they're fixed please let me know!

P.S. Paying monthly and not being able to own is going to make me switch programs.

For #1, project templates. I have not used them, but I believe they will do some of what you want.

#2 bugs a number of people who want to control the default caption track style. See my post in this feature request:

https://community.adobe.com/t5/premiere-pro-ideas/setting-default-text-alignment/idc-p/14493410#M137...

I link to the changes already being made in the Beta version to make it easier to manage and use text styles, including caption track styles.

To upvote that feature request be sure to click the box in the upper left of the original post.

The easiest workaround until we get those changes in the release version is to create all your styles, export them as one file, then import that to your new projects.

#3. If you haven't, upvote this feature request:

https://community.adobe.com/t5/premiere-pro-ideas/multiple-caption-tracks-visible-for-accessibility/...

All the 1/24/23 dates are because it was ported over from the old UserVoice system. Part of the issue here is really what functionality is wanted other than seeing the different tracks - 2 speakers with different styles for each speaker, multiple language etc.

The various workaround options changed dramatically with the "Upgrade caption to graphic." It is still a workaround, but easier than the old methods. Duplicate the caption track, upgrade on of them. It will retain the positioning/style you used in the caption track.

Thanks for this, Stan! I want to add that everything in #1 is covered by Project Templates, plus the ability to add caption presets to the project. A Project Template can use every aspect of a project as a starting point -- it's almost like duplicating a .prproj you have already set up (with bins, sequences, routing, etc) but better.
