Re-installing an older version of TCS2 on my new laptop

Guest

We bought a copy of TCS (or just RoboHelp 8) online (as in downloaded it) and then I had to re-install it recently only to find that we have no installation type files/CDs (that I know of) and Adobe doesn't have older versions online to download.

I have a working copy on a machine that I RDP to from time to time but I really don't want to have to remote forever and ever to work on my online help projects.

Has anyone have a solution for this?

Upgrading is hardly ever an option due to budget$.

TIA,

Mary

Hi,

So you're saying that you bought RH but that you don't have the installation files anymore? Have you tried contacting customer support. Perhaps they can help you if you can prove you purchased the software.

Greet,

Willam

Hi there

It is my understanding that if you purchased online and downloaded the product, you are able to log into the Adobe site and re-download the product at a later date. This is one of the advantages of an on-line purchase.

As Willam said, you likely need to contact customer service. They will likely need to know the E-Mail address used when the purchase was made.

Cheers... Rick

Thanks for your input. I wanted to share my experience for others.

I started a chat on Adobe's support site. This just lead to me calling support after all.

I was given a link to where I could download my old version (TCS 2). I was using just Windows Explorer (after IE started up, I had to select View | Open FTP Site in Explorer), and started the download. I tried over and over again all thru out the weekend, but it kept timing out.

I emailed support but no one answered on Monday.

I called support on Tuesday and they took over my screen and downloaded FileZilla. This timed out once during the initial download. The support called me back during the download in response to my email from Monday.

As soon as I hung up the first file folder (Disk 1) ended and the folder was no where to be found on my desktop. This was after about 6 hours. So, I started the download of Disk 2 which went a lot quicker, and my original support person called me back to check up on the download.  I explained what happened. And I started up the Disk 1 download when Disk 2 finished, and finally late in the evening, I was installing and entering my lic #.

My issue now is that the project I was working on won't open in this RoboHelp because it sez that the project was worked on in a newer version, so I downloaded the updates, and I'm still unable to open it?

Support did say that they were going to call back and check on me - I'll work with them some more on this!

I was very pleased with how friendly and helpful support was.

Thanks again everyone,

Mary

My guess is you have not also applied the two patches.
