Jpeg with "alpha channel" included. How do I create an alpha channel or clipping mask?

I purchased some .jpgs that came with a black and white image beside it. How do I make the black and white image an alpha channel or clipping path to mask the background? Attached screenshoots are the jpg opened in PSD, Saved as a PSD: Create a clipping path switched layers incase I had the stacking order incorrect. I cannot figure out why it's not working.

Any advice is greatly appreciated.Screen Shot 2022-08-01 at 3.17.43 PM.pngScreen Shot 2022-08-01 at 3.24.57 PM.pngScreen Shot 2022-08-01 at 3.23.38 PM.png

Okay, I just copy pasted the black and white layer into a plain white mask. Added a solid color to verify. Looked okay. Brought it into Illustrator to veiw the mask. I'm seeing what looks like a grey outline around the image.

1) Does Adobe Stock have images with truely transparent masked backgrounds?

2) Why isn't there an option to download native PSD versions? I'm not too pleased with the added labor of retouching something I thought wasn't necessary.

Hi Linda,

You should indeed use the black and white part of the image as the mask for the left part. If you tell me what asset you used, I may look into it more in detail. The contributor has used the only possibility to add a mask to a picture. Unfortunately, there are no Photoshop assets available (except for templates). Contributors can upload only JPEG files. And the JPEG files can't have a transparent background.
