There can be plenty of reasons why that happens but what you could try would be: a) render not with AMe but with AE - that way you will eliminate bunch of issues that can happen on AME/DynamicLink side b) render to some good intermediate codec (QT/animation, prorees, cinefrom) c) or if you are having issues with render - render to file sequence - that way even if your render fail - you don't loose already rendered frames (and you can just start another render wher it stopped), and you can diagnoe exactly on witch frame AE is crashing your render d) knowing on what frame render crashed look for what happenes in your composition in that moment and diagnose what is going on What can be the issue in that exact place? - some conflicting plugin/effect - some transition between video footage that makes AE go BOOM! - maby a corrupted video file (that happens more often than you thing with files like mp4, mov or mpg2 etc.) ... That is not so easy question to answer and to be honnest there is no one magic button in AE or in any other compositing tool to "make it look natural" Short: 1. You have to make your green screen footage lit the same - or as close as possible - to how your backround scene was lit. Or if you put your already shot gs footage into 3D environement - put light sources in the same places where trhey were when you shhot your GS - that is what sell compositing in most efficient way 2. remember about perspective - both layers (gs and background) have to more or less in the same perspective/angle 3. use blur or grain effect - depends on what will be neceserry to blend fg and bg together 4. make/use light wrap  effect - you can do that by hand using tools that you have in AE or use one of many plugins avaliable But on the end we can just speculate what you need and what you can use because we don't know any specifics of your workflow, your footage and final effect that you wish to achieve. ... If you stay in AE environement - you can't export to mp4 in newest AE version. To be able to do that you have to go to older version of AE or instal some adional plugin/script f.eg. AfterCodec to be able to do that. You can also render from AE to some intermediate codec (QT/Animation, ProRes, Cineform) and then put that file into AME and render to mp4) - and that I would suggest to you. I know that it seems to be obsolete way of thinking when we have dynamic link and way to render straight from AME but rendering from AE with AME works slow. As for AME not being able to pickup AE render command you can check if: a) you have AE and AME installed from the same release b) restart your OS - sometimes Adobes Dynamic Link hangs and only rrestart is able to help c) try some other way of importing than going to Composition>Add to AME queue f. eg: - just drag n'drop your composition that you need to render from AE project panel to AME queue - drag n'drop your AE project file into AME and then chose what composition you need to render - in AME go to File>Add After Effects Composition... ... Andrew is correct - you can do that this way. Other way that I would try would be to use circle (two of them) made with Shape Layer, trim path on both. On first one animation of start/end point - for circle revealing, and on second one offset parameter - for creating a begining of circle. For irregularity effect i would use Roughen Edges effect. Second: Guys are right simplest and easiest way would be to use layer full of text and one more layer (with a shape that you need as a track matte. But it will not give you exactly 100% the same result as on your video. Here some basics abut that: Use alpha channels, masks, and mattes in After Effects  But to accomplish that exact effect, that exact style - it would be much more complicated and for that you should learn some AE basics. I'm not sure how do you prepare your AI files but you have to make several steps: a) prepare layered file that will be readable for AE. Andrew Yoole said really important thing that most of the people forgot - that is using to large graphics/photos than AE needs. If your AE comp is f.eg. full hd and if you are not doing to large scalling of imported graphics/photos - then you should import graphics closer to full hd not and not much larger. AE have to count each pixel of graphic that you import even if you scale it down to size of your main comp. So importing let say 12k pixels photos and scalling it to full hd to fit your comp you: - don't get anything better on quality side - you make your CPU much harder than it need to work So just scale your images to resolution closer to your AE main comp resolution before you import those graphics to AE. ... Yes. 256 colors is to little to show full color image. Here comparision on left heavly compressed jpg and on the right gif jpg can save 16 milion of colors GIF only 256. So what you are describing as grainy picture is probably that. As for transparency about wchich you are asking in PS topic - GIF can't save alpha channel (transparency) and never did so if you wish to save transparency - gif is not format that you should use. ...
