Oh and my personal editing system is a US$800 M1 Mac mini with two $20 thrift store displays (I lucked into some really nice wide-gamut monitors cheap.) If you pay attention and look around, you don't have to spend huge amounts of money to get something reasonably current.

If you want new features, you might need a new computer. Things we couldn't do in the past, with legacy systems: Real-time video conferencing AI Video editing (at all, let alone HD/4K/8K video) Streaming music Photo-realistic gaming Storage of multi-megabyte files And I'm sure you can think of many more.

I'm currently testing this as I use the Bridge/ACR workflow at my day job, and batching is going well so far. Eliminating the extra DNG is a good thing for me. Rikk already posted that this is coming to Lightroom in time.

Unless you buy a new computer or replace the processor, you cannot use the latest versions of Adobe apps. You also won't be able to use Windows 11 when Win 10 support ends in a year.

Many of us not only don't want these toy AI features, we find them intrusive and undesirable and frankly they often look terrible. Leave that stuff to plugins and consumer apps, and let Photoshop remain a pro-focused app.

This is not a bug. Once you convert to DNG, the JPEG files are no longer linked. Same with saving to PSD etc. I'd actually like this to NOT happen with RAW/JPEG pairs, as it is just filename-based and the files might not even be duplicates.

Photoshop may not support transparency in PDF. You should probably output with InDesign or Distiller, or send artwork in TIFF or PSD format.

Electron apps are often dreck, unfortunately, neither Windows nor Mac and lacking support for native technology. I'm not sure if Bridge will accept COM or Apple Events but you'd need both if you are trying to make this cross-platform. Bridge can be scripted with ExtendScript or (in v15) UXP, but again I don't know how you pass a message from your app to Bridge.

I'm voting against this. I have no interest in more AI and don't want the development team time wasted on features that are not useful to many of us. Adobe needs to concentrate its time and effort on core functionality and fixing the UI instead. This is a great third-party opportunity.

Why isn't there an option to view both the catalog data and file data side by side? This is (another) really dumb design choice, basically choosing blind with the potential result being data loss.

What script? Before you even write the script, you have to figure out the problem you want to solve and what steps it takes. I don't think this can be accomplished by a script. I just installed the October '24 updates. ACR 17.0.0.2043, Photoshop 26.0. GPU acceleration set to Auto in ACR. On loading two CR3 files (Canon 90D) into ACR, the main image came up black. Thumbnails showed correctly. This was both in Photoshop and Bridge-hosted ACR. Rebooting the computer fixed the issue. I also had seen the Radeon GPU problem with this computer (with Sonoma and ACR 16) but not recently, and rebooting also fixed it then. You have four different steps required for this: 1. determine which points were created in what order 2. get the coordinates for each point 3. determine the size of each text bounding box 4. move the text layers I don't believe that number one can be scripted, the others should be possible though.

Yes I recommend upgrading to Sonoma 14.6.1 or the new release of Sequoia 15.0.1. Apple slowly trails off support for older systems, Ventura is still supported but a lot of things have been improved in the newer releases.

Photoshop scripts are modal, and Photoshop actually opens a window to work on an image. So yes a batch export will keep switching to photoshop. Not much you can do about that except use a different app.

My Filename to List Bridge script handles exporting dimensions to tab-delimited text, and Excel would be able to handle the rest. Or modifying the bones of the script snippet I posted above.

This might be easier in Camera RAW, assuming these are RAW files. You can apply a crop and then cycle through each image to fine tune it.
