Hi all! I find myself spending a lot of time using a calcualter to evenly space tabs. I'm sure there is a better way to do this. I know I can use the tab fly-out menu to choose "Repeat tab" but that doesn't work for me because I need the first tab to be longer than the rest. For example, I have 8 columns of data across a page. The tab on the far left is for the name (longer) and the other 7 columns are for numbers. I need them to all be in the same text box. Is there an easier way to set the 7 columns to the right of the first one so they are all evenly spaced? I'm on an iMac using InDesign 15.0.1. Thanks!

I'm also having this problem... and it seems to have started fairly recently. I'm running 21.0.3 on my 2017 iMac. I tried the suggestions listed above, but I continue to get the spinning beachball when I do pretty much anything in Photoshop.

Hi all! I am using Adobe Acrobat Pro version 2019.021.20056 on an iMac. I created a bunch of forms over the last few days. This morning I opened one (then others) only to find... there are no form fields showing up. It's not acting like a form at all. My iMac just updated itself to v. 10.15.2. I don't know if that has something to do with it or not? And this is weird, too. When I click on "Prepare Form" nothing happens. So it's not seeing it as a new non-form PDF. But it's also not showing any fields at all.

Thanks, Stephen A Marsh... I have a bunch of tif images. I'm running an action on them that resizes them, etc., and saves them into a separate folder as gif files. It's when those are saved the the word "copy" is added to the file name. When I run the action on one image... it doesn't do this. But when I batch them... it does. So for instance... an image entitled "cover.tif" becomes "cover copy.gif" after it's been batch processed. As I mentioned, I had fixed this problem in the past... but I can't for the life of me remember how to do it! I did this type of work years ago, but haven't done it in a long time. So I'm trying to recreate all the handy actions I had a long time ago.

So here's my next challenge. When I batch a bunch of images, how do I get them to save without the word "copy" in their name? I used to know how to do this, but I don't remember. And if there's not a way to do that, then can I run that same batch process and REMOVE the word "copy" from the name?

Hi all! I used to do this: Process a bunch of images using Photoshop. Then I'd open Fireworks and run a batch process that renamed them (it added on the text "_big" after each existing image name. I'd do hunreds of images at once. So it saved me a lot of time. I haven't needed to do this in years. But... now I do. And I just found out that my OS Catalina won't run Fireworks. So is there a way to batch rename images in Photoshop? And if so, how? I don't need to alter the images in any way... just rename them... or rather, add the exact same text for each one on to their name.

Hi all! I have an old action I'd like to start using again. But the Export step in the action currently says, "In: File or Folder not found." How do I change this? I tried just creating a new export step (planning on just replacing it in the action), but it won't record the export for some reason.

Hi all! I have a large set of data that is generated online. What I get is something like this: 30" I need to replace that html code """ with the inches symbol. I know how to create the inches symbol in InDesign. But I want to do a find/replace. How would I do this? Currently I have to go through the entire document and type in "control shift quote marks" which is very tedious. Any ideas? Thanks! Oh, I'm on a Mac using InDesign 15.0.

I'm not understanding that. If my file has layers, it's not a jpg... so I'm not opening it as a jpg file. It's probably a .psd file that I'm opening. In the past, when I opened a .psd file that I wanted to then save as a JPG, I'd just save it as a JPG. Then I'd save the .psd as a .psd so I'd have my editable layers saved. If I already had a jpg by the same name that I wanted to save over... it did that... after asking me if I wanted to replace the original jpg. Now it's asking me if I want to save over that original jpg... I say yes... but it does not save over it. So to me this IS new behaviour. And it is asking me a question but ignoring my answer. That seems like an issue to me.

Thank you both so much for your replies! I'm on a Mac... and this problem occured when I upgraded to the Catalina OS. I did a test, and sure enough I'm experiencing the same thing that susans48932590 has. It works as expected when I am saving a flattened image. It saves over the image I'm trying to replace. But when I have an image with layers and I try to replace another image... it creates a copy, even after I tell it to replace the image.

Hi all! I just upgraded to Photoshop 21.0.0 yesterday. And it's doing an odd thing. I'm sure it's a preference, but I'm not sure what to look for to change it. Here's the issue: I created a .psd image. I saved it as a jpg file. I needed to edit it, so I opened the .psd file, made changes, then wanted to save over the jpg file. It asks me if I want to replace it... I say yes... and it saves it. But... it saves it as a copy... it does NOT save over the original as I'd asked it to. How do I change this? Thanks so much!

Hi all! I don't know what to call what it is I'm looking to figure out. So if you could help either figure out how to do what I'm about to describe... or how better to ask my question online, I'd appreciate it! Basically, I have an object in Illustrator. I want to duplicate that object and reduce the size slightly. I want to do this about 10 times, so it looks like I have one object near me (big) and one object far from me (smaller). Hi all! I have a client who wants an effect similar to the (tiny) example below. It's hard to see, but basically I need a vertical rectangle... slanted almost like a wave. It should be rounded on the top left corner and bottom right corner... and have a slight "swoosh" effect on the top right corner and bottom left corner. I don't know what's wrong with me today, but I can't figure out how to do this. I'm sure it's simple... but it's not coming to me. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Well, I seemed to have fixed the problem. I'm not sure what was causing it, but I selected all the text and did "Clear all overrides." Then I just redid the formatting and that worked. To answer your questions... Bob: I used a right aligned decimal. SJRiegel: Changing the font did not help. I did try that. I didn't think about checking the styles. Thanks!

Hi all! I have the weirdest thing happening! I'm using InDesign CC 14.0.2 on my iMac. I have a list of items, and after each item... there's a tab (with periods as a leader) then a number/percentage. If I just have the line item, the tab/leader and the number... it's fine. When I add in the percentage sign... the number and the percentage sign get all jumbled up together. It's so weird! I checked the kerning... and it's normal. What can I do? Below is an example. The second "Industry magazine" shows how it looks before I add in a percentage sign. Normal. All the others show what it looks like when the percentage sign has been added at the end of each line.

Yes, thanks... I knew I could do that. The problem is I work on many different reports at once, and I know I'll forgot to specify which pages should print and which should not. I guess it just makes the most sense to either print all pages and just delete the ones I don't want in the final PDF or delete them in the InDesign file so I don't accidently print out certain pages (which is what I have been doing).

Hi all! I know I can suppress objects on pages from printing, but I'm wondering if I can mark certain pages and keep them from printing? I do reports that sometimes have more pages and sometimes less. So instead of constantly deleting pages then adding them back in later... I thought this might be a good solution. I know I can delete them from the final PDFs... but I was just curious if I could do it this way. Thanks!
