My computer slowed down to the point of taking it to the shop. There we found that Photoshop is taking up so much memory, it is the cause. I had another memory stick installed and even after that, it is slowing down after being open for awhile. I hate having to shut everything down and reboot but it is the only way to get my speed back. Anybody else run into this problem? Can anything be done? Running Windows 10, using Photoshop 2023

In Photoshop I use Click+Alt and then Ctrl + J to get duplicates of my images. Is there a way to do this in Illustrator?

Well this morning when I went to my computer, the October calendars were up. Some of Windows 10's tricks, I suspect. Thing is, when I go to browse in the background settings page and browse to that folder, there are still no files showing. Where are they hiding? I'm glad it's working but I am scratching my head about the file location. I use my homemade calendars for my wallpaper images and tonight I went to the usual file folder to load my October calendars. Clicked on Browse, went to the folder where I keep them and it is showing that nothing is in the folder. I use Windows 10/ What is happening here? I've been doing this every month and now this.

I am trying to make a simple gradient ribbon but cannot get the colors right. I've been working with the gradient tool with no response so I guess that's the wrong way to go. I have the latest AI and whatever version came with it. What do you mean by a label? The help sites I've visited are saying much about the color of the object. After I get that info I just mostly want to play around with it. (and my ribbon, of course) I have always enjoyed using Xara 3D. On the screenshot the side colors I have been able to colorize but can't get my color on the large face of the image.

I upgraded to Windows 10 a couple of months now and I have been having problems with it shutting down over night and sometimes after a few hours in the daytime. I have changed my settings to no sleeping, checked most of my software that updates automatically and reboots when done.
I did finally manage to stop auto updates and rebooting from Creative Cloud so it shouldn't a problem.
I mostly do artwork on my computer and I usually have several windows open with partially completed projects going on. When I go back later or in the AM it's all closed down, I have to open all the programs and hunt for my active work.
What I want to know is if there could be any updates and rebootings going on with Photoshop or Illustrator even though I have stopped it in Creative Cloud? I am just grasping at straws at this point.

The next step in the tutorial has us scattering again and once again it won't scatter properly for me. So I just did it manually and it looks fine. But I need more experience with this scatter tool so if you know of any good sites on this please send me the URL. One of the main reasons I do tuts is to learn and I've never had a problem with this author before and love her work. I am doing a tutorial that requires me to make a couple of brushes. Problem is there is no instruction on actually using the brush and getting the settings right. This brush should be applied to strokes and scattered along the strokes. I can't figure out how to set it for this. Here is a screenshoto of the setting pane. Hope you can help since the author left that out.

I have been having trouble with my computer doing a shut down and restart usually over night. I have checked every thing that could be causing it and changed a few setting but it's still doing it. Now I believe it is Creative Cloud doing this. I would like my updates to be manual with no restart until I do it myself. Can you tell my how to set it like that? I recently upgraded to Windows 10 and now I have this problem. When saving an image, I used to be able to save it jpg and png withou merging first. Now when I try to do that, I cannot get the option to save that way so I have to merge before saving. Is there a setting in preferences for this?
