Yes, sometimes it works. But, as John wrote, YouTube will change the "handshake protocols" and then it doesn't work. YouTube has evolved so that it accepts a wide variety of formats but the standard is an MP4, with an H.264 logo in either HD or 4K. Output your video using one of the defaults to a standard format and then use YouTube's uploader. It is two steps, but, in the long run, it will save you time.
