Is this a bug or a feature? Since the most recent update PS is not remembering my layout. I have to expand the layers pallette every time I open PS, and its driving me slightly loopy. I have tried creating a new workspace and the option in prefs is off... I used to be excited for new releases of PS, now there's usually a bunch of dumbing down features I have to roll back, and stupid annoyances like this. Any idea how to fix this one?

The good news is that Adobe now knows about this, and it will get onto the list of things to fix. So either way, you're covered! By @gary_sc excellent! thanks 🙂 There is one more bit of usibility I hope they address - the option to open the new destination in an existing tab. Because otherwise, you'll end up with bridge rejecting the new location because the tab quotient is full. (and also - is it jsut me or is there really no other way of closing a tab than right clicking (or hamburger clicking) and chosing "close panel")?

Hi Gary thanks for responding, and sorry for the delay. I'm a windows user Yes, that's correct - double click opens in bridge. Primarily I'm a photographer, but I also use illustrator and indesign. This workflow means I can jump from any folder open in file explorer to Bridge where I can see all my images already cached and ready to be viewed. I don't navigate in Bridge. I use Everything (https://www.voidtools.com/) to find image files and folders. Much quicker than navigating to them - especially when you have 30 odd terabytes of data. Once I'm in bridge All of its tools are available to me, which I use a lot - collectsions, smart collections, batching, sorting, labelling... I dont want to give these up. But the only alternative at the moment is for me to swtich to one of the (URGH!) thumbnail browsers like IRFANVIEW or XnView

I've used bridge the same way since it was released: I associate all my image and design files with it - so I can click any image in a folder and bridge will open that folder and let me browse. If bridge 2023 is already running it will not open an associated file in its folder. To get the same behaviour you have to close bridge 🤦 I don't know why I'm posting this here other than out of frustration because I know that a) nobody will take the slightest bit of notice b) people will tell me I'm using it wrong If anyone knows a workaround, please tell me to save me from having to use one of the bloody awful thumbnail browsers out there.

it just occurred to me that my workflow over the years is throwing away a bunch of data that could be handy. So rather than converting my nef raw files to highest quality jpeg, I exported to tiff. However: bridge>image processor> tiff only produces 8-bit tiffs. Does anyone know a way to batch create 16-bit tiffs, or other high bit depth format images that can be imported into premiere? Searching around this topic, I've only found a bunch of noise.

Been using 22.0.0 for a month or so. From my perspective its the best update for years: it fixed a couple of show stopping bugs, and generally it has been incredibly stable especially for a .0 release. However in the last couple of days suddenly Premiere is very slow to respond. It's taking much longer for the playhead to stop after I hit space, there us a visible delay before the context menu appears and overall it just feels *sluggish*. I have tried importing the old project into a new one, that saw a little improvement, but overall, its not what it was. windows 10 21H1 Creative cloud is reporting a billing issue: I'm waiting on a new credit card to arrive after I was scammed online. Adobe doesn't play with performance does it in this scenario? Premiere is sitting at 14% CPU when idle. Ram seems high and climbing even when its not doing anything

I'm not sure why you're sighing. What did you expect? You posted into a thread with obviously frustrated people, trying to figure out a problem to denigrate their problem. The what-you-might-see-as-OTT-reaction from me, is not a measure of your response. Its a measure of the frustration courtesy of adobe. And not just for this issue, but for all the other hundreds of niggles and snafus across their product line.

My workflow for exporting my pics to the same relative folder every time and applying my styling action: Lightroom > export This does it all in once step. It means when I come back to it its all done. Your proposed workflows have a crap more steps and a tonne of cognitive load. Thats why I developed my action in the first place. Otherwise I'm left waiting for one step to finish before doing the next. It may not sound like much but when you do it every day for 15 years, you know its kinda annoying when it breaks

OK ridiculous though this is: Clean install failed until I had run PS as administrator once (and that failed) and then ran it again no as administrator. Suddenly, and for no apparent reason, everything is working again - same droplets in the same location as previously. So in other words, try that first and see what happens: Run PS in admin mode, attempt to run droplet. Wait wait wait for it to give you the error (it took a long time), then quit and run again normally

@J453 from that page: "Note: Droplets (and other things) that communicate with Photoshop lose the connection if the last thing you did was uninstall. For example, if you started with Photoshop CC 2015, then installed CC 2017, and uninstalled CC 2015, the droplet connection is lost for Photoshop CC 2017. This issue revolves around the Windows installers. If you want to remove CC 2015 and only keep CC 2017, to keep droplets running, uninstall CC 2015, then reinstall CC 2017. You can keep both versions on your computer if you want. The key is having the last thing occurring be an installation, not an uninstallation." When the CC installer removes previous versions, does it, perchance, do this after installing the new one?

I've been reporting this bug on and off for at least 12 years. All my original bug reports and forum posts predate the current bug reporting pages and forums. I vaguely remember uninstalling and reinstalling photoshop seems to work. its a pain in the arse, but that's where I'm going to start and I'll report back. Some people have had success 1.making PS run in administrator mode, 2. and/ or the droplet, or 3. running in ps mode and re-creating the droplet variations of the above 4. Sacrifiding a goat to the gods of adobe none of them worked for me though

woot! thanks! It must've been photoshop where this happened to me before and PS overwrote my old presets when it upgraded. Unbelievably one of my showstopping bugs is fixed in this release. 😲 I've been reporting it and generally moaning about it for years. The consensus was that I should just move on with my life, which is what I've resolved to do 😉

Came to use ppro 2019 (version 13, I believe) today and its gone. I've been stuck on this version for years because of show-stopping bugs. Even if the bugs are fixed in the new version, it will have updated from my presets in the version above, because I still had that installed. Meaning all my presets from the last 18 months+ have gone forever. On top of that v13 is not available from the creative cloud app. Does anyone know where and how I can get it?

I just wasted an hour trying to get a powerpoint exported PDF to print without its black background I ended up exporting to word and deleting the background there because it was too slow in acrobat dc. Plus there seems to be no way to select all the text and change the text colour in a whole document. Turning on accessibility preferences got me most of the way there, but then could find no way of printing what I was looking at: it would print as the document, not what was on screen. can anyone tell me if its possible to export what I'm looking at, or if not a suggested workflow for dealing with powerpoint PDFs (ie removing background on multiple pages, changing text colour).

Jeff, If you feel like venting is in some way a waste of your time, by all means, please ignore the venting posts. If, however, you could use your time and any contacts you may have as an adobe community professional to elevate this bug then that would actually be useful. People vent here because they have gone above and beyond what is reasonable to draw attention to a bug that stops them using the software. We have quite good consumer protection laws in Australia, and that is about the only avenue I haven't explored in trying to resolve this and a couple of other issues. To give a rabidly frustrated user a telling-off for following up on a bug post *from 2017*, that has gone not only unfixed but unacknowledged for 3.5 years frankly feels like bullying.

Dood, do you have any idea how insulting it is to have this post marked with a correct answer? Since 2017 I have posted on uservoice, phoned Adobe, posted here, contacted various Adobe employees directly, tweeted at them. In fact the only things I haven't tried are semaphore and carrier pigeon. Not only have I never seen any evidence of Adobe responding to feedback about bugs Ive never seen anyone who has. You have YouTube film makers with hundreds of thousands of followers who try, give up, switch to resolve. The only reason I'm still here is because I'm a multimedia masochist. Adobe removed it's bug reporting feature entirely, leaving only uservoice. If you look me up on it you'll see I have outlined this and the other showstopper bug in great detail. Conplete with demo videos. To everyone here that has experienced Adobe's lack of responsiveness I say, vent away.

and since ppro2020 there have been bigger time-remapping bugs with interpreted footage. I've learnt to live with this the nested sequence bug, but the interpreted footage one is a show stopper for me. I'm still using ppro2018. I wont upgrade until it's fixed (which in reality means I'm more likely to move to resolve).

Rubbish! It's there, it should work. This is the adobe version of "you're holding it wrong". Making the user workaround it's crapness is exactly the reason it's full of bugs. I'll change my workflow to resolve, I should've done that years ago. I keep banging on about this out of principal.

Bugs glorious Bugs! The one that has made me ditch it is the UI becoming unresponsive: start playing timeline and it wont stop. (Trying to grab the playhead or hitting space does nothing for 10+ seconds). Editing a brand new v15 project using cineform movs, and nikon h.264 files (very editing friendly, usually) gave me a crash every 15-20 mins. This is not a solution: as I said in my OP. 29.97 to 25 fps is 83.41675008341675% The rounding causes stuttering playback and it's a total cludge. Why would you make apologies for Adobe's inability to address a bug? yes it will drop a frame every 100 seconds of input clip. A lot of my aerial clips are 5 mins long. If you hit a dropped frame during a lovely smooth track... I don't know why I'm even discussing this, why should we be working around this mess?

Hey technicians! This bug will apply to a bunch of folk who do more with premiere than just edit material shot at one framerate. All those photographers and media creators out there as opposed to old school film-editors. Settings: CUDA rendering on Take a mov shot at 29.97 (or 48, or 50...) a long clip will work best. Mine are cineform quicktime movs. Interpret footage to 25 fps Put it on a 25fps timeline Do a speed ramp on it (the bigger the more obvious the bug is) Please watch the "software only" screencap for the expected result then "Cuda playback" to see the bug in action. I have tried to draw attention to this bug since the first few weeks of version 14's release. Every single project has this workflow. I shoot all my aerials at 50fps, I shoot 29.97 to get slight slow mo *all the time*. This isn't a minor inconvenience with a workaround possible: I just tried to workaround it by setting my 29.97fps clips to 83.42% speed. Some work, some drop frames and stutter. Working with CUDA switched off is so slow as to be useless. I have phoned adobe, tweeted at adobe staff, used this forum and uservoice. I have made youtube vids, sent leaflets into the stratosphere and released a thousand carrier pigeons with bug reports attached. I am willing and available to help with this issue.

a new release, a new attempt to get a bug noticed that has kept me on version 13!

Whilst this is a niche bug it is a bug that completely stuffs my workflow and makes premiere 14/15 unusable.
The workaround is to not use footage interpretation but to set the clip's speed to eg 83.42% complete with all the nightmares of dropped/or dupped frames that that entails.
If an engineer would card to spend 5 minutes with me I would happily demonstrate the bug, and all I know about it - which is loads. I have been trying to get Adobe's attention about this - and a previous time-remapping bug - for 4+ years. What a masochist I am.

Why is it some projects work fine, and others are flaky as all buggery? Current one is pretty big, but I'm having to re-start it every hour at least, and ditch my media caches in order to keep the thumbnails Also why does premiere not generate thumbnails for a whole bin, either than just the portion that is on screen? The is mind bendingly stupid and annoying. And it will re-generate them if you jump out to another bin and back in again.

I've just had to move a whole ton of footage to a new drive. Is there a quick way (like in lightroom for instance) where you can say "hey dont look in D:/video/blah/whatever look in E:/video/blah/whatever Edit: a symlink appears to be working! (IE I created a symlink from D:\MYVIDEO to E:\MYVIDEO and it appears that it's finding all the subfolders correctly) are there any drawbacks to this?
