Since upgrading to 2017 Sync Settings is no longer available. My CC account is connected but Sync Settings is greyed out. Sync settings under prefs show me as signed in but "Sync Settings Now" button is greyed out and "last sync" shows as "none". Totally broken.

It works fine with the card removed. All the CR2 files are there. It is only using Import in LR with the camera connected via USB that the CR2 files do not show in the import list. They are there on the card but LR will not import them from the camera.

Yes, see previous post. I am connecting the camera directly. This is most straightforward and has worked in the past. I would rather not use the card reader, the direct camera connection is supposed to work.

Thanks for your quick response. There is no error message. It is just when I do an import from my camera (plug in the camera and click import inside Lightroom) the destination folder only contains jpegs after import. No CR2s, which I can confirm are still on the camera

When I do an import to Lightroom from my Canon 70d the RAW files are not transferred. They are saved in the camera as JPEG/RAW but Lightroom only imports the JPEGs and he CR2 files are left on the camera. Lightroom version is 2015.8 and Camera Raw is 9.8.

Hello David, have you heard anything back about this? I can now confidently report that disabling Dropbox in startup doesn't stop the problem as I mentioned previously. It is ongoing.

As far as I can tell it is coming from Creative Cloud, given that it's coming up in a Creative Cloud error message in the Windows Notification area. I have also noticed on rare occasions that it has occurred (once or twice) while Dropbox isn't running (although it occurs every time Windows starts if Dropbox is running) There are certainly no common file locations, as they each have entirely unique Windows folders.

Thanks David, I have now tried another account (which works) and various startup configurations (which all work except when Dropbox is in startup mode) So starting Dropbox manually after everything has started eliminates the problem. The problem is also gone when I start Dropbox automatically and start CC manually, so I will not not accept "because Dropbox" because CC and Dropbox are interfering with each other somehow. Can anybody tell me what "Some error occurred during cloud switching" actually means?

Your suggestions in the links provided say that it is advisable to uninstall all the apps – and what I mean by "safe" is that the uninstallation (and reinstallation) of CC will not affect the apps and not require reinstallation of the apps (which I thought I made clear in the original question). Therefore your answer appears to be to say that is is not "safe" (as above) to simply reinstall CC desktop app alone to overcome possible (and even that is not certain) corruption of the CC desktop app. So it appears in order to investigate what might be a possible cause of my problem MUST involve the full uninistallation and reinstallation of the entire CC suite and resetting of prefs and possible loss of settings, taking perhaps half a day or more. That is like making a car where you have to remove the entire engine to check the spark plugs.

Thanks David, I have disabled it in the Startup list in Task Manager and launch it manually after Windows starts which works so I'm living with that for the time being. I will try disabling Google Drive One Drive and Drop Box and set CC back to start at some point as a test when I have the time. Why do I need to create a new admin account? What would be wrong with uninstalling and reinstalling CC in the current account?

Thanks Brucgovn When I tried uninstalling CC it gave me a scary message about CC apps no longer being able to work after uninstalling CC. I wasn't sure from that message if it meant it would then have to re-download and reinstall all the apps again after I reinstall CC. I'm still not sure after reading the information in your link.

It is NOT a duplicate thread. It is a DIFFERENT issue (syncing) in a DIFFERENT forum (File Hosting, Syncing, and Collaboration) The title, the content and the forum on which it is posted bear absolutely no resemblance whatsoever. I have only added a link from this discussion to the other thread which is NOT about this issue but relevant to what I am going through. Please unlock it. And don't lock this one. If you are referring to the message that is linked to from this thread being a double posting perhaps you should respond in that thread or its original posting and not this one. The reason why I might have double-posted that original message (not this one!) is that other one had been moved from where I posted it (this CC forum) by the moderator (you?) but I couldn't find it. I could only find the original one which had the message from the moderator that it had been moved to the syncing forum. But the link only directed to the forum, not the message. And if I searched for the message it directed me back to the original one. With the link. Etc. Etc. And I needed to add more information to that message. So I posted it again, in the forum it was sent to originally, because as I say I could not find it in that forum. So the new one which I posted in the Syncing forum (which is linked to from this separate issue in this CC forum) ihas all the relevant information (to that issue) and I don't want it locked. Lock the original one if you like.

That's not what I wanted to hear. That sounds like the nuclear option. I have a frustrating problem here: Some error occurred during cloud switching - syncing paused, will not restart I thought reinstalling CC might help if it had got corrupted somehow. However I'm not about to commit half a day or more to a possible, not likely, solution to this frustrating issue. If CC is corrupted there has to be a much easier way to fix corrupted files. It would be fair enough if Adobe was paying me to work for them, but I thought it was the other way around.

If I uninstall CC will it mean that, when I reinstall it, all the apps and settings will need to be re-downloaded and installed again from scratch? Or will it simply mean that the CC desktop app only is reinstalled, and everything else will just continue to work?

I keep getting this message briefly every time I sign into Windows 10. "Some error occurred during cloud switching" and syncing fails. I have no idea what this message means. The cloud icon has a blue "paused" button and when I try to restart syncing it just gets stuck "syncing" and nothing happens. The only solution is to quit Creative Cloud, then go into task Manager and close all the instances of Creative Cloud related apps, then restart Creative Cloud. This is not a useful solution. This is just getting very frustrating.

Thanks, yes I am aware of this, however I am wanting to just use the pencil icon in the links panel. I assume because of these responses that it can't be done. Which is unfortunate, as I find it the easiest way to work with PSD files, and it would likewise be good if it worked with other files in the same way. From a UX point of view I consider it defective. As I said, if Adobe can make files with particular extensions editable from Bridge, without changing the default "open" association in the OS, why can't they do it for InDesign? Is this not a fair question?

No thanks. That is not the solution I am looking for. Bridge is too slow to open. I just want to use the native viewer. It needs to be simple and user focused. It is not. If Bridge is able to open these extensions for editing in Photoshop while keeping the native viewer for opening the files generally then why can't ID do this? ID could even use whatever protocol is set up in Bridge. It is highly unsatisfactory the way it doesn't work at the moment. I'm really surprised you can't see this.

That is exactly what I don't want to do. As I described above. I don't want to have to open Photoshop every time I just want to view pictures on my computer. It is the worst photo viewer ever. It is a magnificent image editor - not a photo viewer! (I thought I made it quite clear in my question. Maybe you just skimmed my post and didn't read it.)

Since upgrading to 2017 clicking the pencil icon now only opens the Windows 10 native photo viewer "Photos" for jpegs pngs and tiffs. It used to open Photoshop. Searching this in Google or these forums only results in the advice that I have to reset the associations in the OS. That's just stupid. Why would I want to do that - why should I have to open Photoshop every time I just want to view a photo? Ridiculous. Surely Adobe does NOT expect its users to suffer so. So how do we set the EDIT default to open Photoshop from InDesign for these filetypes while retaining the OPEN default with the native viewer? If Adobe can make it so for Bridge, why can't it make it so in ID where it is actually more essential?

Since updating to CC2017 I've started getting more SideBySide errors in Windows 10. They had stopped but now they are happening again frequently. why does this keep happening?
