This issue could be related to your LMS rather than anything being wrong with your Captivate module.   I would suggest you upload your SCORM module to SCORM Cloud and thoroughly test it there to see if you can replicate the issue on the different LMS before trying any changes to your settings.   Your screenshots show you have multiple attempts allowed on your quiz question, but do not show if multiple attempts are allowed at the overall quiz level.  It would also be good to confirm that you have Resume Data Bookmarking turned on in Quiz > Reporting > LMS Advanced Settings.  If resume data is not turned on, or is not supported by your LMS, then you can expect similar issues to some of those you report. ... How did you create the SCORM zip file?  Did you let Captivate zip the published contents, or did you zip the published folder AFTER Captivate published?  If you did the latter, then that is likely why your SCORM file is not working.  Captivate creates the zip archive with the imsmanifest.xml file at the root level of the zip file.  If you just zip the folder containing the published output, the manifest file ends up being one more level down deeper in the structure and the LMS cannot find it. ... I will assume you are using Captivate Classic and not Captivate 12.  If this is not the case, please say so.   If you want users to be able to terminate a session without completing it, and then later resume where they left off, that functionality usually requires that your content is being served from a Learning Management System.  It also requires that you have Resume Data Bookmarking turned on in your SCORM settings for the Captivate module.   If you are NOT serving your content from an LMS, but ARE delivering from a web server, then you may be able to use the Self-paced Learning bookmarking that can be turned on in Captivate's Project > Table of Contents > Settings > Self-paced Learning checkbox.   So, can you please clarify: Which version of Captivate you are using. If you are using Captivate Classic this isn't always possible.   Sometimes the variables are still linked to Advanced Actions or templates that are no longer accessible via the Advanced Actions dialog.  The recommended process when deleting redundant Advanced Acions is that you are supposed to edit and remove any references to custom variables before then deleting the actions.  Most people don't follow that workflow. So, the problem here is the project file can have"phantom" actions that cannot be deleted and are preventing their linked variables from also being deleted.   The only way to usually resolve this issue is to create a new blank project and copy your slides over to it.  But that's also a lot of trouble and can result in other problems.    So if you can live with having a few redundant variables in the project, just ignore them. ... Did you happen to have Scalable HTML Content turned on when you published to HTML?  If so, that might be your problem.  Sometimes the scaling throws out the alignment of the button hit areas so that clicking on the button does not cause it to react because the hit area is off to one side or the other.   Sometimes if you click around outside the buttons you will get them to react.  That indicates that the problem is the location of the hit areas.   If you had Scalable HTML turned on, try publishing without it. ... Your screenshot shows you have only opened the Quiz Preferences to the point where you see the Quiz menu item in the left column of the Preferences dialog.     Click on the small triangle icon beside the Quiz menu item to open the submenus underneath it.  One of those is the one that opens the Pass and Fail screen.   In order to have Closed Captioning in your final output you need to have the closed captioning text in the Slide Notes area, and then you need to select the option on that interface to have this text appear as Closed Captioning by selecting the checkboxes down the right side of the slide notes panel.   You need to break the slide notes up into small chunks of text that would fill just a line or two at the bottom of the slide (or where ever you intend to display the text).  If you have too much text in each slide note line then it usually overloads what the learner can take in while listening to the audio.  As a rough guide, I usually do not have more than 10 to 15 words per line.   Closed Captioning is actually part of the output skin, which includes the playback controls, Table of Contents, etc. Once you have your slide notes set up to be displayed in small groups of text, you also need to go to the Project tab > Skin Editor > Playback Control and select the Closed Captioning checkbox near the bottom of the dialog.  The Settings button just underneath that checkbox  opens more options that allow you to configure the look and feel of the CC text. ... Captivate's published output is HTML5 and that means it is designed to run in a web server environment.   When you do a Preview as HTML5 or a Publish from Captivate, the output opens in a web browser, but what you might not have noticed is that the URL in the address bar of the browser has the word localhost near the beginning.  This is telling you that Captivate is displaying the content in a temporary web server that will close when you close the browser.   When you try to launch the same published content by double-clicking the index.html file in the output, it does NOT open in a localhost web environment and that is why things are not working for you.   Upload your content to a web server and you will see that it works. ... The zipped file is likely to be a SCORM output version of the CPTX project file in that same folder.  The third file in your list will be the cptx.bak backup file which is a copy of the project file at the last save date.   From the description of your problem, and the fact that your screenshot does NOT show the CPTX file with a Captivate icon, I would suggest that you do not currently have Captivate 2019 (Captivate Classic) installed.     Is that correct? ... If you want to allow users to have more than one attempt at a quiz during a single user session, then you need to configure the options under Quiz > Settings > Pass and Fail.  Your screenshot does not show that specific area of quiz settings so I cannot confirm if you have it set up correctly.  You can even set the option there to give the user Infinite Attempts to successfully complete the course. If you do, don't forget to also check the box to Show Retake Button, otherwise you will leave your users stranded at the end of the quiz.   However, you need to pay attention to the fact that I have mentioned this applies within a single "user session", that is,  a single launch of the Captivate course module from your LMS.  If your users do not have multiple attempts allowed to complete the quiz, or they close down the module before successfully completing it, then you would need to configure your LMS to allow multiple launches of the module in order for the user to reattempt the quiz again. ... I think you find that changes to the RDL files only take effect on new CPTX project files, not ones that you have already started under previous versions of the files.  This is because certain data is cached inside the structure of the project file when it is created and cannot be edited or changed after that point.   So, now that you have changed the RDL files, try creating a new fresh project file and see if your changes then appear. ...
