Subscribers do not need the DNG converter Who decides about this ? I'm a subscriber, I need this tool which I do not necessarily use from Lightroom. I'd like to be automatically informed when the tool is updated and to be able to update automatically instead of having to check manually.

Hi, I'm wondering why Adobe DNG Converter doesn't appear in the list of applications available from the CC Desktop tool. A lot of CC subscribers use it, especially those using PS and Lightroom. With exception of the beta versions, it should be available directly from the CC app, like Adobe Camera RAW.

Maybe they are still looking for the correct algorithm ? Let's help them a little (we are already doing the job of the quality assurance dpt. for free, we can certainly donate a little more of our time) : - In Library mode, in the left panel, when giving the focus to another section (Catalog, Folders, Collections or Publish services), memorize the selected item in the current section and de-select it. - In the panel section that has just been given the focus, retrieve the last selected item and select it. Should work in Solo Mode. In non Solo mode, focus could be given when hovering a section. That's it. No more 2 simultaneously selected items in the left panel. Don't bother Adobe, it's free advice. No invoice sent and the job can be done by a summer student (although I'm not ready to wait until yet another summer to get a fix).

I agree with JC. Adobe, make a pause and focus on fixing bugs that are lasting since years in PS and LR. It's useless to build on non stabilized code. Just do it and explain. Most users would certainly agree with this approach.

By the way, when such a "minor" problem appears in DxO Photolab (formerly DxO Optics Pro), it is usually fixed within a few days (versus 2 years to not be fixed in LR). Obviously less features in DxO (but better post-processing engine) but more responsiveness and customer service.

Hi, [Running Windows 10 Pro 1803 build 17134.376] Since a few days (probably after the last Windows cumulative update KB4462933), Acrobat Reader DC is no longer working. When I double-click its icon or a PDF file, the sand hourglass cursor appears for a few seconds and that's it. No error message, no main window appearing, no pdf file opening. However, 2 instances of the acrord32.exe process are created, even if I double-click only once. During each attempt, new COMRuntime errors are listed in the Event Viewer : The application-specific permission settings do not grant Local access permission to the COM Server application c:\windows\system32\svchost.exe with APPID Unavailable to the user yyyy\xxxx SID (S-1-5-21-3830724593-899982153-72885144-1000) from address LocalHost (Using LRPC) running in the application container Unavailable SID (Unavailable). The application set this security permission programmatically; to modify this security permission contact the application vendor. So it's obviously a permission problem. Which one ? I have tried multiple times to uninstall/re-install, to run it as an administrator, in Win7/8 compatibility mode, also tried the various "fixes" that can be found on the web, including the eula.exe fix, disabling antivirus, resetting the preferences... Nothing helps. So the program is now totally unusable. It seems that I'm not alone with this issue. Any other fix that would work ? Thanks in advance.

This Bridge update contains support for managing media cache files ...but you can't specify the media cache folder location. Someone from the support told me that since the media cache folder location is shared with Photoshop and Lightroom, I should set this location from either LR or PS. But in PS and LR, I can only change the location of the ACR cache and the scratch disk (in PS). I don't see any way to change the location of the media cache and changing the location of the ACR cache doesn't affect the location of the media cache. The only way to change the media cache folder location is to edit the registry : HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Common 12.0\Media Cache | DatabasePath & FolderPath scratch files Many users have a dedicated partition for cache folders and scratch files. I can't understand why the ACR cache folder can be set by the user while doing this for the media cache folder is only possible by manipulating the registry. Not a problem for me but many users won't even try to edit the registry anyway.

This problem also happens when using the full screen display option (F key) and zooming in and out in the full screen image. Sometimes, after zooming out, the full screen image is displayed in low resolution. Yes, I'm using an adequate size for the standard previews.

Hi, The latest version of CC Desktop (4.7.0.400) seems to have fixed the problem. Never got this error again since then. Also, I no longer have the login problem (waiting forever for the app to login). After all this time, Adobe CC Desktop now appears to work normally. Hi, This announcement raises a particular question. Contrary to what is said here and there, it's not a problem of not supporting older OS because newer versions have more features. Windows 7 is supported, Windows 8.1 and early versions of Windows 10 are not and recent versions of Windows 10 are supported. So, there's something inconsistent here, and it's legitimate to wonder why intermediary versions like Windows 8.1 are neglected. As a Windows developer, I can testify that Microsoft (almost) always maintained ascending compatibility of the programming interface. Exceptions have always been very rare and were always justified. So I don't think that it's an API issue. So, what has changed or what is missing in Windows 8.1 that is available in Windows 7 and more recent versions of Windows 10 ? The only thing I can think of is : device drivers. I guess that it's not really a programming issue. Just, compatible device drivers are not available and nobody wants to write them. So the above statement from Adobe ("In an effort to simplify its product development process while still taking advantage of new OS features.") is irrelevant. Hardware vendors were not interested in supporting Windows 8.1 and early versions of Windows also had their share of problems in this area. In the latter case, you can upgrade (I admit, not always). However, if you fell in the Windows 8 trap, you're out of luck. My two cents.

Since the same image (built from a single file) can be added to multiple collections, deleting the file from disk doesn't make sense unless LR is sure that no other collection contains this image. So I can imagine that when LR receives a Delete command for an image viewed in a collection, it could make a quick search to check whether the image also belongs to another collection. It is however safer to consider that collections are a set of references not pointing to files.
