I have a corrected PSD version, but when I want to save 'as', png isn't a choice. I don't remember how I did before and didn't find png in search of manual.

Is this possible. I try to follow the help direction for editing typ but I can't select the type. When I go to the type tool and then to where I want to change the type, it instead puts what looks like script Lorem Ipsum. I don't remember how I created the png, and I have a PSD with the right type I could replace it with but in help it doesn't give a choice to do so. Seems like this should all be so simple. Unbelievable how useless the help is. I search for creat png, and nothing relevant so then just png. and stell get a whole list of generalized things to spend hours reading it seems.

So on my task bar is this older version. It doesn't update, so each time I want the latest, I have to click the Adobe Creative cloud icon and choose that Bridge, and though I've chosen update, that taskbar thumbnail remains unchanged.

Coincidentally, it was right after I myself officially complained about this feature being dropped, that about a day later they reinstated it. I was using it for sometime, but after a recent update I found it wasn't working again. But after just checking now, I find that, though I have updated several times, the version on my PC is not the latest one, so it's only been when I've used the cloud version. So how do I get that version updated to my PC as I don't always have Internet access when I am using Bridge.

For ahile the Bridge could have multiple Windows by pressing control N. That was too simple, so it seems they changed it again. Now how to?

Due to the fact that one of my websites is too large and can't be backed up, I've been deleting hundreds of images and putting on my other site where size isn't a problem. But to get as many as possible off, I've been choosing the larger families instead of small ones. I have found that since the exporter results in a lot of parentless keywords that then have to be moved, one by one from the bottom in Other Keywords to the parent folder, it has been better to rename the parent in keywords, with all members selected from using () to comma. This has worked well when a subfolder also has () which is also changed with after unselecting all and then selecting those with the comma format and the original () then is deletable. But I'm having a big problem with subfolders below this, such as Tribes in Subfamilym which are just one word, with no common name, such as Saperdini in Lamiinae in Cerambycidae. I find all those genera that use that keyword, and uncheck them. Then I delete the subkeyword, which is both places, I add it back to only the comma format parent. And rising from the dead, it reappears in the old place. Then I selected all of the parent Laminae with () and made sure there were none left with that keyword. Deleted that parent with all its subkeywords which were also deselected and deleted. I select a genus that would use that keyword and check in the new version and both the old version and its parent reappear. Just can't get rid of the duplicate.

Since I thought I updated all dates and changed all () in the SORT folder and subfolders, I've been busy adding corrected ones to my website and then moving to their phylogenetic folders. I'd find anomalies such as some NEFs had dates, keywords and descriptions but the rest of the metadata, location etc was gone. Strange as it was in my access database where metadata was exported before any tiff making or subsequent processing. Not many and added back data from nearby files which had the same info. Also in folders I thought had all corrected dates, and didn't need the exiftool, there were outliers mixed that had apparently been processed differently. this is because there was a lot of moving files after getting IDs and put in NAMED subfoldrs. Then I discovered that the NAMED grasshopper folder files all still had the () format. So I removed the old export/import and downloaded the new circumscribed one and followed the directions and it was much quicker without all the extra fields and it worked great. Thanks, so much! I still have a lot of NAMED folder stuff to move before getting to the really big stage of changing the metadata format in the phylogenetic folders where tens of thousands of images are in their essential archive locations, and still not sure how the keyword structure will be reconstituted so that all these new format keywords are largely parentless in regard to the order of the previous phylogenetic scheme. Once I take care of most of the NAMED folder duties, I'll take a look at a smaller Order without many subkeywords to start with.

Definitely. I went through the named beetle folder and copied 322 with bad dates to the test folder and it did all. Strange how the xmps which hold the data for RAW files are ignored but the actual RAW files they refer to are changed, just as in the exporter I used originally.

When I first had the exiftool(-k) icon on the desktop and dropped folder on it, it opened with files listed and I typed the command but it didn't work. I went back to the instructions and followed, renaming and putting in the Windows directory and creating a new shortcut on the desktop. But when I then get the command prompt and drag the folder or files there, I get red slash in circle, so nothing more appears, and I can't do any further steps as nothing is there to work on. If I instead drag to the new shortcut made by dragging from the Windows exiftool.exe then it's just a flash open and close. Is it the path, when it said ' any other directory in your path' ? Nope, moving exiftool.exe to c"\users\rob, no difference. Can't drop any folder to window.

This is Windows 11. So I renamed the exiftool(-k) to exiftool.exe. I moved it to the Windows directory, got a command prompt and typed exiftool with a space and not recognized, so I typed exiftool.exe and got the window. I dragged a folder and nothing happened. I dragged the files in the folder to the window and nothing happened. since the icon disappeared from the desktop after moving, I created a new shortcut from where it now is in /Windows and dragged a folder. There is just a flash while it opens and closes and likewise with a single file.

robirdman1 AUTHOR Engaged , Oct 1, 2023 So I downloaded and put exiftool(-k) on my desktop. I copied a few bad date format files into a tester folder and dropped the folder onto the icon, allowed it to run and then I pasted and pressed enter. I went back to the test folder and looked and now they have the correct date format. Everything else seems normal. Opened in Photoshop and saved one raw as tiff and normal. Is that all I need to do, with larger selections? Amazing! Thanks!

Strange anomaly. I had downloaded on my laptop as I was reading my email. I opened in Bridge and it had the name and date and most of the other fields were empty. So I was then going to take a picture as you did. I made it to fill the middle panel. I accidentally pressed control ). And it turned sideways. I did Control ( to get it back. And all the data appeared. I went to my PC and downloaded and opened in Bridge there and all the data is there. I would definitely like to try to use the exif tool on some sample batches as it would be great to not have to change all manually.

I found that the reason I was not seeing the opportunity to omit fields was due to the way I was opening. I would create a new blank worksheet and then open the text file. I would get to choose the 65001 and tab, and that is all. But if instead just open the txt file, then, though I don't see the 65001 in the choice menu, it allows me to skip fields so I can just have the few I want to open. Also this way it doesn't have a unchangeable green header at the top because it also asks if there are field names. They come at the top but are not green and are recognized on import. So I would hate to delete that original exporter/imported where in some circumstances I might want to have more categories. Is the new one completely replace all that or is the Earlybirder a specific set within that, where I can reinclude fields. I wasn't sure, thanks.

I found that the exporter only affects RAW files when their XMPs are not hidden and selected during export. Otherwise the RAW files are unaffected. The RAW files are huge, like maybe 20mg, But some of the exported files for keyword correction were performed on files that had already made into tiffs and jpegs, so I can attach one,

That was buried above in this long thread. Exported dates were changed to a format that Bridge doesn't recognize, so when a RAW file is opened in Photoshop, a warning is given that data can't be read. the resulting tiff is stripped of all metadata. The incorrect date format is in the IPTC core, while the correct fomat remains under the thumbnails and in the camera data (exif). I can copy and paste that from the exif into the IPTC core Date created box and the problem for that file is solved, but there are about 3800 files that were changed, and attempts to re-export and change the format in Excel were unsuccessful because the seconds are actually gone.

For years, I have used another custom exporter that I use to eventually get the data in a form that my MS Access database will recognize, after tweaking in MSWorks SS. It includes some camera data such as GPS but not some other fields that I wish it did. I don't use it to import back into Bridge and I'm sure the dates would alter. Your script is great and I just wish I could get the right procedure to open into Excel where I get to choose the fields. For the keyword purpose only, I think the file name, path, keywords, and description would be most useful and minimal. It would be great if there was a script or macro to manually cut and past the date/times. Based on the time to do several, it looks like over 10 hours to do all.

But when I would paste the data from a sheet with columns row at the top to one using the imported fields as the top, the receiving sheet was always one that I'd used the exporter before. I'm just uncertain why some had the column row and others didn't. Must have had a slightly different process. In the future I want to have the procedure so that there is a step to omit columns, and never import the dates again. As far as I can tell with those format altered dates, they all seem correct. Most were from a recent trip and the dates are from that period.
