Please don't phase out Premiere Rush mobile until Premiere for iPhone is up to par!

Amidst all the mobile video editing apps out there, I've always endorsed and recommended Premiere Rush (on iPhone) because it does one thing the others don't: handle multiple aspect ratios well. Often I'll shoot in 16:9, with the awareness that the middle section will be what's shown in a 9:16 version, when I duplicate the project to tweak it for the wide aspect ratio. It's so easy to translate an Instagram video into a YouTube one.

I was excited at the announcement of Premiere for iPhone—finally an upgrade to an already great program in the ecosystem of the industry standard for professional video editing! However, I'm extremely disappointed at its launch version.

My issue with the new Premiere for iPhone isn't a lack of handling aspect ratios; yes, it does that. But I've played around with the new mobile Premiere and am very frustrated that many basic features that are in Rush are not present. Things like Transform for scale, rotate, and position (the most basic thing!); fade to black or white transitions; and, what I always thought was Rush's best feature, Auto Reframe, which would automatically pan-and-scan 16:9 footage in a 9:16 project (or allow you to manually override its keyframes). Also, there doesn't seem to be a way to save custom titles or color presets (which I often use to add magenta or red into scuba footage). Speed ramping is also gone—one of the tools I often used in Rush.

I don't think I'm unreasonable for asking that these tools be integrated into Premiere for iPhone because they already exist in Premiere Rush mobile. With the present launch version, I find Premiere for iPhone to be frankly, unusable for its lack of many basic video editing tools. I feel the developers were so excited to bring AI features to mobile that they forgot that, at its core, Premiere is supposed to be an industry standard editing package—not just a playground for Generative AI.  I will continue to use and endorse Premiere Rush mobile until Premiere for iPhone is at the very least, up to par with the most basic level of video editing software. It is currently not offering basic features that have made the Premiere ecosystem the industry standard.

I totally get your frustration! It’s disappointing when a new version lacks key features from the previous app that you relied on. Premiere for iPhone definitely has some great potential, but it feels like some of the tools from Rush are still missing or not as polished. Hopefully, Adobe will listen to user feedback and bring those features back in future updates. For now, I guess it’s back to finding workarounds or waiting for new updates to fill in those gaps. you can visit here to get more information.
