Hey everyone!I am new here and from what i see this is a great forum! Hopefully along time ahead for me here!I am normally pretty good with fonts, but this one has me stumped. I was asked by a client to reproduce his logo as he lost his original high res file ( i know haha). Seeing as this was going to be an easy task I took the job. This font has caused me hours of stress... If any of you have seen it around I would greatly appreciate the name. I have tried whatthefont and every other font resource. Here is the link:http://images.clubzone.com/company/images/14195.jpgThanks in advance guys!!Tayler
If the designer of a GUI for an embedded industrial product uses an Adobe font (like Helvetica Neue) for display of numeric information, can the manufacturer of the GUI include static, bitmapped images of numerals from the font in the embedded software, thereby negating the need for the font file, and thus negating the need for an OEM/embedded license for the product? To put it another way:Licensing the font software itself is almost certainly cost prohibitive for this kind of application. Because only a few characters are needed, can licensing costs be avoided by including those characters as bitmapped files (created in Photoshop with a licensed copy of the font) instead of the original font software?Thank you for any help.
I'd like to add more fonts to my font library. Are they hard to install? I haven't tried that yet.Thank you
Has anyone used FontXchange or Trans Type Pro for converting pc fonts to open type fonts? Are there issues with special characters and glyphs? I need to purchase one of these and was wanting to get some feedback on which works the best. I know they can both do this but was wondering if people preferred one over the other and why. Thanks in advance for any tips you can provide.-Kristie
To all you graphic designers out there, can I get some feedback on your font handling techniques? I understand all the different font programs out there, and I try not to keep too many fonts in my Windows Font folder... but my dilemma is, I am not a master typographer... when I need to design a new web site or logo etc., I know what theme and feel the font should have, but I cant equate that to a specific font in my head. So basically what I have been doing is using AMP or Font Xplorer to basically look through all 7000 fonts if this is an important aspect to the design. So unless it is one of the 10-15 fonts I know, I have to spend 10-20 excruciating minutes looking through all my fonts with the text I need. There is no way every designer who doesnt have 7000+ fonts memorized do this every day for a new project. And even if you can group them in folders, are you supposed to suck it up and spend one day grouping all these fonts yourself? And even when you d
I have a lot of fonts in my fonts folder (3,960) and whenever I click on the type tool in photoshop, illustrator or indesign it takes forever to load.I use them just when I have a project. Is there a way to stop loading fonts or just load Windows' default fonts without removing them? Thanks! OS: Windows 7CS: CS5 (Middle Eastern Version)
Hi all,After many fruitless hours of Googling, I'm really, really hoping to find some help here with a small InDesign CS5 issue I'm having. I'll try and keep this brief.I'm currently designing a book in InDesign CS5 that has chapters that run one after the other. Whereas in most books a new chapter will start on a new page, here they flow together. For each chapter heading, I'm using a font called Orial, size 18. For the main text, I'm using Adobe Garamond Pro, size 12. When I have two solid pages of 12 point Adobe Garamond Pro, all is well. The alignment of lines on both pages are level with one another. That's just what I want. However, if I have a double page spread and one of the pages has an 18pt Orial title on it (within all the 12pt Adobe Garamond Pro), this throws things out of whack, as you can see in the image below:As you can see, the lines on page 79 are not level with those on page 78. Is there any way around this? Many, many thanks for any help you can offer. I'm rather tea
Can anyone recommend any good free fonts to replicate the look-and-feel of a period piece from the 1920's, 1930's or 1940's? I am looking for fonts from any of those periods, the idea is just to have something that makes someone think of those days when seeing the fonts. I'd like a headline text and body text if possible.Thanks.
Hi all,I tried http://new.myfonts.com/WhatTheFont/ and http://www.whatfontis.com/ and both tools could not tell me what font was used in the attached JPEG. Can you help? Thanks, Mike
I have nowhere to turn to... this may be a most relevant forum I can find on adobe.com. How can I install all the fonts simultaneously? I have to go into each fold and add fonts from the ATM Deluxe 4.1. Would take me hours to click thru each folder. What to do? Help! Glenn
Forgive me for copying this in the Type area also (in addition to Indesign). I was not sure where it belongs.Hi there. I just redesigned a magazine using the Hypatia Sans family, Avenir family and Arno Pro family. Avenir is the one font I have been using. With both Hypatia and Arno, the ligatures totally drop out of the pdf when viewed on a PC. And, when the editor made the edits in the "comment-able" pdf and sent it back to me, really none of the fonts appear right. Nothing looks like Hypatia or Arno or Avenir. The font flow seems to stay put, but that is about it.I'm trying to pinpoint this a little tighter. But while I'm doing that, I wanted to put this out here on the discussion boards. Since this is an entire magazine, it's not going to be acceptable to proof it this way. I don't know if I can send a pdf to someone at Adobe to look at and see what they think is happening? I'm not finding much on the boards about this either so I don't know if it's a widespread issue or not.-K(I'm
What would you guys recomment as a non-traditional font for a blog? I'd like something that's different from the rest and catches the eye, but I still want it to be easy to read.Right now I think I'm using a version of Arial with a dark blue color (it looks black). Thanks for all ideas!
In writing a system for cataloging music, I need a font with all the usual alphabetic content (including all those pesky Eastern European diacriticals!) which also contains the musical key symbols for "sharp" and "flat". This needs to be usable in a Windows environment.Bob Morse
I have been working with Adobe Font Folio (OpenType) for 4 or 5 years now, after having a Linotype library of PostScript faces which I used for at least a dozen years. My concern now is that every time I want to use a symbol font such as Carta or Sonata or even ITC Zapf Dingbats, I end up having to revert back to my PS fonts as the characters don't work with the Adobe OpenType fonts. This is a problem in all the programs I use (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, etc.), not just one. I also use Extensis Suitcase Fusion (now at version 3, but same issue with previous versions). Any thoughts on what I may be doing wrong, or reasons for this deficit with the OpenType fonts? Thank you!
I am a Graphic Design student, and we just started a project with these specifications:Take one noun and one adjective to make a 'word pair.' Basically we are making what might be a logotype. No use of additional shapes is allowed. No changes of the letterform design are allowed. (Scale and rotation are allowed, but no subtraction or addition of points/shapes)Considerations:- find similarities in letter forms, possible ligatures, descenders/ascenders- look for unique relationships between the letter forms and the words- find more than one typographic relationship- vary baselines, type sizes (scale), typefaces- use proper kerning and tracking- maintain legibility- maintain balance- keep each word's individality through hierarchy or contrast- do not have a letter do "double duty," using one letter for both words- do not make pictures out of your wordsNOW, the argument I have with my instructor is this:The students are being told to do this using InDesign. I however feel that this is a task
I just bought Font Folio 11 (gulp!) So now what do I do?I don't want to drag/drop 3000 fonts onto my system and boggle it down. I guess I was under the assumption that for $2500 it came with at least a basic viewer/manager, but no.I got a trial of Suitcase Fusion, but I can only seem to install one font at a time.Help, please!
Hi,I wonder if it is allowed to embed any font from Adobe Font Folio 11 family to use in a paid mobile application. If not, could anyone please give me a suggestion on the best font solution for a multi-language mobile application? Thanks in advance,Genc
hiI moved the fonts on my PC and the FH doesn't recognise themwhere do i have to place the fonts (Hebrew) so it will be recognise again??Dov
Since the December 2011 patch Tuesday I am having trouble with an instance of the Adobe MultipleMaster font GraphiteMM. The instance I installed now defaults to Arial and reinstalling it changes it to a new name which means we need to change fonts in existing documents.Anyone have a clue which patch may have done this? My operating system is XP Pro 2002 with sp3.Thanks
Recently upgraded to Leopard (Mac) and Univers doesn't appear to be supported. I have hundreds of client documents designed in Univers. Any solutions?
Installed Adobe InDesign 2.0 then attempted to install updates. Was able to download three updates, but I can't get them to install. I'm using a MAC OS X operating system. Anybody have any ideas?
Hi, I'm struggling with a problem regarding Type 1 fonts.I have FontAgent Pro4 for managing my fonts and I recently got a hold of some PostScript Type1 fonts that I'm gonna use. They import to FA just fine but when I activate them they dont show up in either of my CS5 programs. They do however show up in Wordpad and Office etc.I can get rid of this problem by either installing the fonts manually (open the fontfile and pressing install) or putting the whole shebang (pfm/pfb) in Adobe Illustrator CS5\Fonts\ for example. But doing it this way is really tedious and time consuming. And it kind of defeats the purpose of having a font managing program.Am I missing some kind of plugin or what? OpenType and TrueType shows up when activated. I'm on Win7x64Thanks in advance!
HiAnybody know a quick tool to convert Type1 fonts to Open Type? How is the leagel aspect? Are you allowed to do it?M;ic
I had a logo designed that used Placard MT Condensed and Incised901BdCn BT. I am creating my website in Adobe Creative Suite 5. These fonts are not appearing in any font list. I wanted to have the test on the site to compliment the fonts used in the logo. Can anyone help identily comparable Adobe fonts, or how I can solve this?Thank you.
Wondering what new fonts ship with CS4 (Design Premium). Anyone know?
