This is so dumb. I just used it the other day and now I'm going through a whole process just to be able to use the app that I pay hundreds of dollars for. Adobe - work on QA before releasing an update.

I recently got a new mac mini m4 pro and downloaded Premiere Pro to it. I like to use the metadata ratings for reviewing clips and this new UI (version 25.1.0) has them too large to fit in the default row height. I have to increase the height of the rows significantly before they'll fit. This wasn't an issue with my previous version of Premiere. I didn't import workspace settings, I created it from scratch. Brand new Premiere Pro download so no chance of old files causing issues. I tried quitting Premiere and restarting - didn't fix it. I tried turning off ratings in metadata settings – the column disappeared but the stars remained. Then when I re-enabled the rating display, it showed the stars duplicated on top of each other but offset.... what a mess. Any ideas on how to fix it or is this just Adobe's bad QA... adding issues that weren't there before?

The INCONSISTENCY is the worst part: If you try to scale an image the default behavior is to lock the dimensions. Shift enables free transform If you try to scale a shape the default behavior is FREE transform. Shift Locks the dimensions! WTF? Why would Adobe change this? It makes no sense. Btw, EVERY. SINGLE. OTHER Adobe program uses the original schema of default free transform and shift to maintain dimensions (After Effects, Illustrator, Indesign, etc.). Wildly inconsistent and completely unnecessary. Is there any place to actually make a suggestion and ask them to remove this? Or is Adobe going to be stubborn like always and just carry on despite widespread user frustration.

Thank you for mentioning this! I have been frustrated all day clicking in the wrong place for the selector tool. What a terrible freaking idea to place that there when it serves very little purpose.

Yes, 100% agree Nate. Just out of curiosity to confirm my suspicion, I went into Illustrator, Indesign, After Effects.... not a single one follows this new Photoshop change. All of them maintain the common sense long held UX of free transform being default and maintaining dimensions with Shift. Photoshop is the only program that was changed in this regard. So besides being inconsistent within Photoshop itself, Adobe was inconsistent across its entire suite as well.

JJMack, I first got an email saying the thread was approved by a moderator. Then I got an email saying it was disapproved by a moderator. Though someone just commented on it, so perhaps they re-approved it? Idk. No nudity of course. Just a single "s***" that was starred out automatically.

Then why the inconsistency between images and shapes? That is my biggest complaint really. Thats just confusing to users.

Btw, when I tried to post this as a new forum post, Adobe deleted it. Hopefully they won't do the same to my comment above. If you're going to make a change like this at least make it reversible in preferences.

Seriously Adobe? Who thought this was a good idea? For years, muscle memory of all your users is ingrained to hold shift to resize with dimension lock and to not when wanting to squish or widen. Now you just reverse that overnight for no clear reason?? Here is the REAL problem with the matter - the inconsistency: 1. If you drag image corners, it defaults to LOCKING dimensions. Shift allows free transforming. 2. If you drag a rectangle shape, it defaults to FREE transform. Shift then locks the dimensions! Look, it would have been bad enough if Adobe just reversed them overnight. That already was frustrating. But then to implement it so inconsistently just makes no sense and will drive me and everybody else crazy. Then... the only way to DISABLE it is to write some code in a text file and upload it to your application? Seriously? Adobe... please get your **** together. You're not a Alpha build game on Steam trying to figure things out as you go. You're a massive company with a huge share of the professional market.

Now instead of a random black frame, I'm getting a distortion effect like an old TV. @Adobe... any ideas? Any fixes?

Btw, I think when I just cleared my cache, it stopped showing the frames for a bit. Eventually, it comes back but at least its a temporary fix so you can render them out without any black frames. My cache is 100GB btw. Adobe, please fix this.

I have consistently had this exact same problem for many months now. It is VERY annoying and unprofessional to have in final videos. It only affects my video file layers (the video file will go black for a single frame, but the other layers will not). This happens in the project window, in the source window – even though the original file when played outside AE does not contain the black frame. It is very common and seems to not be consistent when it will show up, but does so several times per video. I have gotten on with Adobe customer support chat twice just tonight! Both times, they removed any third party plugins, cleared preferences, and caches. Both times the problem came back shortly after closing the chat. I am on a 27" 5k iMac running latest osX and the lastest CC.

I actually do have RightFont... and that might have been when the problems started actually. I've downloaded the latest version of both PS and Right Font. Will see what happens.

I've been having this exact issue for the last year or so. Very annoying. Drives me up a wall every time I encounter it -- its entirely random too. Sometimes when I restart Photoshop it happens and sometimes it doesn't.

Shawnna, it would be one thing if this was a standalone product that you purchase once and then never pay for again... but guess what - Adobe is taking money out of our pockets every month for more and more bugs each time.... and they just INCREASED THE FEE! Pretty unacceptable.

OP Here..... Came across a new problem with Photoshop & pngs.... I had cut this woman out in Photoshop and saved it as a png. The new png file that was created added some odd little bits and pieces beside her face that were not in the actual working document. They were random parts of the image that were duplicated and pulled there. I even put that resulting png file in After Effects and the odd glitched elements showed up in AE as well. When I quit Photoshop to restart it, it actually removed the glitched elements from the png file and therefore AE updated to not show them as well. Very odd.

When making any sort of change to an image, from overlaying a gradient, to resizing a box shape, to editing the levels, etc. Photoshop will not immediately reflect the new action done to the image. It will appear exactly as it did before I made the change UNTIL I either zoom in/out or make another change (in which case it shows the prior change, but not the new one until I do the same thing again - rinse/repeat). This does not happen every time I open Photoshop, sometimes it works fine and sometimes it decides to do it. If I quit Photoshop and reopen, it does not fix the problem. If I restart the computer, it may fix it or it may decide to do it that time as well. This is a very very annoying bug that seems to plague me fairly often in Photoshop ever since CC 2018 (which has been very buggy overall). \\ I have deleted all Photoshop preference files, uninstalled the app, reinstalled it and restarted the computer. Does not prevent it from happening. Photoshop 19.1 Mac osX 10.13.2 iMac 5k

That would be too generous of Adobe. They like to make us wait 3-4 updates before fixing any glaring issues like this one.

I am having the exact same issue. I have not only rebooted, but I removed all Photoshop preferences, uninstalled the entire app and reinstalled. Still happens with png files every now and then. If I quit Photoshop and reopen it then it works, but will randomly happen later that day or the next. Rinse/Repeat. Very annoying.

From time to time, when I open a png image, it will appear as bright, distorted lines. I have deleted all Photoshop preference files, uninstalled the app, reinstalled it and restarted the computer. Does not prevent it from happening. When it happens, I can quit Photoshop and reopen it and the png appears correctly. But then it will happen again later that day or the next. Rinse/Repeat. Freaking hell Adobe. You remove a great feature that I used constantly while adding 100 bugs. Someone needs to make a complete suite of competing products and I'll switch in a heartbeat. This is getting so annoying. I feel like Adobe doesn't actually care about their users anymore. They just do whatever they want and know they can get away with it.

Every since I upgraded to the newest AE CC 2018, I have had nothing but very annoying and unexplainable font problems: Some of the problems I've seen: Not finding fonts that are enabled on the system (and available in Photoshop et al) When opening a project, it will say fonts aren't enabled and it needs to sync from Typekit, even though the font (Raleway) wasn't even in the project at all and WAS enabled in RightFont. When I clicked ignore, it replaced all of my current fonts in the project (Proxima Nova which is synced from Typekit) with Raleway. Also when opening a previous project, in a random composition, it will choose to replace all of the type with crazy weird glyphs and characters. In this case it was Proxima nova. I tried to do a new text box in the same comp, same glyphs. I would select a different comp (in the same project) and type with Proxima Nova - no problem. CC 2018 (all products) have been the buggiest I have ever seen (most of them revolving around typesetting). This is absurd for such a huge company, with such a huge market share to put out such a crappy upgrade and cause simple things that worked perfectly before to go absolutely haywire. I use Typekit syncing and RightFont I have 2017 iMac 5k on the newest OSX.

The update didn't fix the snapping problem. Adobe, kindly... get your s*** together. Basic basic problems like this didn't use to plague the Adobe suite until you went to cloud-only. Now I guess you feel you can skip quality control and just slowly roll out updates over time. Please hire a better quality control team and give them time to do their job before you release a new version.

Agree. I feel like ever since they moved to rolling updates on cloud, they have gotten very lazy in catching very obvious and frustrating bugs. I feel like each big version release prior to cloud was much better at quality control.

I had the same problem (very annoying!). I was able to rectify it by uninstalling Photoshop (choose the remove all app preferences option) and reinstalling. Could probably do it simpler by removing some sort of preferences file somewhere, but the one I found and removed didn't seem to do anything. So this is probably best solution.

I simply fail to see how a company as large as Adobe who deals with professional software that has a majority market share in the industry allows such a basic obvious problem to go out to millions of clients. This is not the first time and it won't be the last.

I dont know if this is a new "feature" Adobe decided to add or if its a bug... but its getting very annoying. I like to work in full screen mode and will often zoom into areas of the document or have it slightly off-center of my screen just by nature of arranging layers, etc. -- natural things that happen when working on a project. Ever since I updated to CC 2018, then simply moving a text layer for instance from one location to another automatically moves the entire document to center on my screen. Trying to zoom into a certain area of the document is very difficult as well as it constantly tries to center it as I'm zooming in. This is really frustrating and not conducive to an efficient workflow. Anybody experiencing the same? Any ideas on how to fix it?

Hi, I bought a brand new iMac 5k a month or two ago and I had the same problem from the start of using Photoshop CC. So freaking frustrating.... and makes working almost impossible. HERE'S WHAT FIXED IT: I contacted Adobe support, the guy did a screen takeover and just deleted my preferences file (why he couldn't have just told me to do that, idk.). I restarted Photoshop and I haven't had the issue again. Try it and see what happens. Your preferences file should be in the User or Computer library / application support or something. Can probably google it.
