After Effects

I'm trying the new After Effects 3d model import workflow on my Studio M1 Ultra and when I import a 12mb .glb model it all works fine. However, when I include environment light with cast shadows enabled and create a shadow catcher, the shadow appears for the first frame but then the render is stuck and doesn't render any of the remaining composition. Fast scrubbing along the timeline sometomes renders a frame or two but I switch to Draft 3d mode to be able to render the composition and the shadow is completely gone. Finally, when I want to do a final render of the whole composition, the rendering process takes forever and the progress bar (both in AE and MEdia Encoder) doesn't move at all, even after 30min trying to render a composition that is 30s long. When I deisable shadows completely the rendering works as expected. I know that the Studio Ultra M1 is no super computer but I I was al least expecting to be able to render shadows on the lowest setting. BY ACCIDENT I FORCED RESTARTED MY COMPUTER AND NOW MY FILES IR CORRUPTED/DAMAGED AND IVE TRIED IT ON OTHER COMPUTERS AND IT SEEMS LIKE ITS THE FILE I WAS ABOUT TO RENDER TO IF ANYONE CAN HELP ME FIX MY FILE I WOULD BE HAPPY ( IVE TRIED MOSTLY EVERY METHOD THE DRAG AND DROP AND IMPORT FILES, CHANGING THE NAME THEY DONT WORK) IF ANY CAN HELP I WOULD MUCH BE APPRICIEATED.

Hi All,Im a bit of a novvice in certain areas of after effects, I work for a small agency so enevitabley end up creating everything for a brand. I have recently seen this animation https://ashfall.studio/work/fifth-row, and other changing pattern animations. this one in particular caught my eye and and wondered if anyone had a good resource on learning to create such a dynamic looping pattern.It could be expressions controlling line widths and lengths in a very clever way but I would love some kind of tutorial on this. Im not sure where to start. Any ideas?Thanks 

Hi, I have a serious problem with a live concert footage (see attached) where one of the monitors recorded zebras from my GH5 camera settings, which means that a lot of the highlights are showing up with zebras. I've tried multiple ways of erasing them but it seems a lot more tricky than I thought, and unless I want to spend days editing every frame on photoshop, I'm wondering if anyone has a clue of what the easiest process would be... I've tried some bluring, wire removal, and others, but nothing really works and it's a very painful process so far... Obviously deleting zebrasfrom the main light spots is easier because i can sort of replace the lights, but it gets much harder when it comes to the small zebras on the skin or on the instruments... And because the light changes a lot, any rotoscoping other tracking is difficult because zebras will show up anywhere on the screen from one frame to the next...Anyway, any help appreciated ! It would save me a lot of time !

New version, same problem with RAMpreview render…Here's the crash report

Basically, I'm trying to add a skew transition to one of the clips in my edit for Tiktok. The whole composition already has motion tile and wiggle position added onto the adjustment layer to create a panning/shake effect. The tutorial video i'm following says i need to add motion tile onto the individual clip too in order to acheive the skew transition but every time i do, these black lines appear around the edges of the clip, and no amount of adjustments to the position or scale gets rid of them. I was thinking it was because i already have motion tile added to the adjustment layer but i have this issue quite frequently when using AE. For example, I'd finish the whole edit and add the adjustment layer last for the shake effect, and the black bars appear again despite no motion tile being used anywhere else.  I would very much appreciate any help on this issue. Hi everyone,I have three keyframes on the Position property of an object. I want the third keyframe to automatically move the object by the same amount of distance as the movement between the first and the second keyframe.Is there a way to automate this using expressions or another method, so I don’t have to calculate and input the values manually? Thanks in advance!

Hello fellow users !I need to set the highest or the lowest point exactly at the left side of my comp.My wave width is set with a simple expression : W=thisComp.width/(effect("Slider Control")(1)*2);If my slider is set on "2", it'll ge me 2 waves.According to the AE reference : "Phase : The point along the waveform at which a wave cycle begins. For example, 0° start the wave at the midpoint of its downward slope, and 90° start it at the lowest point in the trough."Weirdly, I need to set the phase angle to 64,6° ish to have my waves start at the lowest point. And -64°ish to have it start at the highest point.Which isn't at all what's written in the AE documentation mentioned above.Can someone enlighten me ?I'll be much obliged.Many thanks in advance !

-Loaded up an older scene from AE 2016? some exrs, mov's amd png's (Some plugins from RG were missing, removed them and saved over, scene loads without warnings.)-Scrub back and forth in the timeline updates as expected. Looks okay.-Press spacebar to generate preview, begins to generate around 20-30 frames, then freezes AE, have to end task in task manager every time. Using brand new Windows 11, Ryzen 9 machine ,64MB ram Rebuilt the same comp from scratch  (2025.2.0 build 131) Works fine!

HiI wanted to render a comp but I encountered this error:"After Effects has encountered a failure related to GPU-enabled effects on this frame. This is likely because your GPU is out of memory."The render stops when gets to a glitch and zoom transition.I monitored the task manager during the rendering but the GPU uses not more than half of the memory capacity. However, AE can render the comp in both Open CL (using integrated Intel® UHD Graphics 630) and Software Only.My GPU works well with other projects. But in this case, it just uses 6% in the task manager before the failure.How can I solve this problem and use my GPU to help the rendering process?My system info:Intell i5-10600KGPU: GTX 1650 SUPER (4GB)All drivers are updatedNo CUDA toolkit installed. 

Hi community. I have set in trapcode particular Emitter type to text. And go into the designer to pick a preset style.I can see the preset style with my text appearing, but when I hit the apply button, and go back into AE. I only see my font without the preset applied to it.  What other setting am I missing? Thank you.        

Hello AE Community, I have a weird issue that came up today. I cannot get ANY After Effects project to open in ANY of the 2023 After Effects versions. Whenever I try to open a project, it just hangs on a blank Open Project Window (screenshot attached below). Here is what I have tried so far, but didn't work: -Open project up from another drive-Open an autosaved version-Start a new project, and import an existing project-Reset After Effects settings to default-Uninstall and reinstall After Effects without migrating any settings (fresh start) Again, none of these worked. Everything would just lock up After Effects entirely. The only way out was to "End Task" in the Task Manager. Also (not sure if this is related), My mogrts keep going offline in Premiere Pro, which originated in After Effects. Any additional thoughts on what I can try?  Computer Information:Edition Windows 11 ProVersion: 21H2OS build 22000.1574Processor: 11th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-11900 @ 2.50

Cant open After Effects, I already give the permisions to adobe and I wont open.  HELP!

I try to open AE and a window pops up saying "validating software license" then it closes and pops up again saying the same thing. It does this over and over again and it won't open AE. This is incredibly frustrating as i need to work. This is unacceptable for a software program relied on by so may as a means to make a living.

Hi, when rendering my 4k comp I get the Error Code 19969 saying that GPU accelerated effects are causing the render to crash. When I switch to Software-Rendering, it works but takes a long time. I don't understand what is happeing here, there is nothing special in my compositon, just a buinch of footage and Lumetri Color Effects along with some Optical Flares. Happens in AE 2022 as well. Here's my setup:Latest AE Version 2023intel 9900k64gb Ram2x Nvidia RTX 3080 (10gb)Downloaded and installed the latest Nvidia Studio Driver.

I wasted 2 hours on tech support in India today and wanted to see if anyone know how to solve this issue.  A layer is not selected. I create a path. I want to annimate this path. The bug is you can not just change the size of the stroke. I put all sorts of numbers in and thge size does not change. I absolutely dont want to fill the line because it gives me crazy shapes. Asos, after you create the vectored path, you can not locate he stroke and fill options anywhere. 

I've tried exporting both as mp4 and mov. I have the noise effect on both a text and video layer. Neither of them are showing up in the export. Both the effects are toggled on, and I can see them when I playback the timeline. As it's rendering, the noise effects vanish and aren't in the exported final. Any idea what the issue could be? 

HiI try to import layers made in Illustrator into After Effects.I released to layers sequence in illustrator and after import an AI file in AE.It works well except my colors become white. No colors at all…I'm in RGB mode in Illustrator. ThanksS

Hi I'm having trouble rotobrushing  when I try to remove nothing happens? The video looks rendered so I am not sure why its not removing 

I made a looped animation. How do I export it to use later? There are also some adjustable variables, I want to be able to change them in Premiere Pro.

I downloaded VideoCopilot's Color Vibrance (v1.0.6) and VC Reflect (rev14), and both .zip folders came with just .aex files (as well as some data for MacOS, which isn't relevant to me, as I'm on Windows 10). I can't make AfterEffects open the .aex files, nor can I use the Bridge to install them. I'm lost, since VC Saber was also a .aex, and that installed just fine? Is there something I'm not doing right? I keep finding many conflicting tutorials. There were no .jsx or .jsxbin files in the .zip folders, either. Just .aex files and MacOS-relevant folders/files. 

Breaking down three different ways to control the visibility of layers by adding an expression to the opacity property. All three methods provide you with easy to apply transitions.   Fade based on position keyframe The first example is controlling when a layer shows up so that you can quickly highlight part of the screen just by setting the position.   Fade based on in-point and out-point When you add a layer to your timeline, have it fade in and fade out without setting keyframes, just let the in- and out-points be the trigger.   Fade in and out by layer marker  Imagine you want to set a layer to appear, then disappear repeatedly. With this example, I use even numbered layer markers to trigger the opacity to go from 0% to 100% and odd numbered markers to do the opposite. Working out which is odd and which is even is incredibly simple, thanks to the remainder operator (%), but don't worry if you're unfamiliar with that, I break down how it works.
