One feature I miss a lot from Nuke is the possibility to bake a texture to UV space. Lots of great comp VFX are created this way.http://www.xuanprada.com/blog/2016/2/22/bake-from-nuke-to-uvs I'm wondering if anyone knows of a way to do this in AE. Plugin perhaps?

Hello, I really hope someone can help me. Please note I am working from a work issued macbook and Adobe account.  SPECS:MacOS Monterey 12.5.1MacBook Pro 16 inch 2019 AFTER EFFECTS:22.0.1 / 22.6 I was working from a mac with the exact same specs as above but due to an IT issue I had to swap laptops with a collague. I was given a wiped macbook so installed Adobe Cloud etc. Since working from this newly issued macbook none of the projects I created last week work. I get a mirage of error messages.  The projects were created and are hosted on Dropbox which we use for a remote network. I am accessing files from the cloud when I open the project. The error messages range from: After Effects reading from file .... 3::6After Effects Error 51::19After Effects Error cannot reopen open file 3:130After Effects cannot read file 86::1 I do not understand this as the projects were working perfectly. Thanks for stopping by 🙂 I have a JSON file with which I control different languages. In many languages special characters are used: äöüéô and so on As soon as I insert even one special character in my json file, it becomes completely unreadable (regardless of whether this part is read or not). If I remove the special character, everything works again.In older posts (2017) this was once recorded as a bug: LINK Is this still a bug and is there another work-around than manually inserting the code for each special character?For example, “\u00e4” for each “ä”? That would be quite a mess... Thank you very much 🙂

I have started animating using Adobe After Effects CC 2015 and I have some issues regarding layers.I am aware that I can trim them using option and the bracket keys, however, what I wanted to do was to split the layer so that it has a gap in between.For instance, layer 1 is visible from 0:00 to 1:00, but what I wanted was to make it appear again at 2:00, leaving a blank section in the middle, from 1:00 to 2:00.The only way I found to do this was to duplicate the layer then adjusting, yet it requires a huge amount of layers.Is there any way of making it in the same layer?

I currently have version 24.6.2 of After Effects, but I want to use After Effects version 24.3! I want to use both and keep both versions on my Mac, but it's not giving me the option too. Does it not exist or is there anyway to make both co-exist?

I often work with colleagues using the German version of AE.Unfortunately, when I pickwhip to different expressions, in the expressions are language-specific, so they do not work correctly.Does anyone have a solution where I do not have to relink every pickwhip to the German-language version  by hand?? I am doing an intro title sequence for someone.It consists of about three separate scrolling credits.    The scroll from bottom to top.I have done the text in Photoshop and imported it into AE.My problem is the text appears jerky as it scrolls up.Is there anyway to get AE to give me the smoothest scroll possible ?

I'm opening AE project files made on the 2021 version in the 2024 version. Whenever I open them, the message  "This project must be converted from version. The original file will be unchanged" Opening the project, all the uploaded movs and image files I added don't show up in the preview, or are completely black. I did follow this tutorial to try and fix the issue, but not only did it not fix the missing assets, but made one of my other projects more confusing. Previously it was entirely black, but now it has these colored squares where the assets are supposed to be. Should also mention that I tried following the tutorial yesterday, but it repeatedly caused Adobe to stop responding. Here are what my project files look like in both versions

Hi, I'm using the After Effect typewriter effect to create text that appears on the right, scrolls leftward, then disappears on the left, all within a fixed portion of the video.  Currently, I have the cursor starting at the rightmost edge of the section, with the justufication set to the right, while shifting the text layer to the left in time with the appearing text, so that the text appears and scrolls to the left, while maintaining the same starting point.  So far, so good. BUT- My issue is with how the text disappears.  Currently I'm using a slightly blurred shape layer as a mask, so the text vanishes softly at the end of its scroll.  (See image)  However, I'd prefer for the text to "un-type" at the leftmost edge of the section, IE: to disappear letter-by-letter, in the inverse of how they appeared.  If anybody has any pointers, I'd be grateful! -Jonathan

I was rendering some video wall stuff and the source was some pro-res files and on export the GPU spiked to 100% and the rendering took about 10x times as long as it should.  When I uninstalled the NotchLC plugin performance went back to normal.  Not sure if this is a notch problem or a Adobe problem but would be nice to be able to disable codecs that might be highjacking native adobe decoding such as ProRes. I still need notch for endcode, but don't need it to gum up the works on decode if this is the performance! 

Bonsoir à tous, Je viens vers vous afin de trouver ce que je fais mal lors d'un export depuis After Effect 2024 sur un mac avec le dernier OS à jour. J'ai une séquence de 15 secondes (ma première) réalisée en apprenant tout de A à Z avec des videos. Une fois ma création finie, je vais dans fichier --> exporter --> ajouter à la file d'attente de rendu. Puis dans la file d'attente de rendu, je clique sur Module de sortie. Ce qui me permet de choisir  dans le menu Format --> Quicktime et surtout dans le menu Couches --> RVB + Alpha car mon but est de n'avoir aucun fond sur cette séquence. Je lance ensuite l'export, aucune erreur, je retrouve mon fichier dans mon dossier. A l'ouverture sur le Mac j'ai une erreur du logiciel Quicktime qui me dit : Le fichier n’est pas compatible avec QuickTime Player. Savez-vous est l'erreur ?Merci par avance pour votre aide, bonne soirée.

I'm currently working on a project file that requires motion tracking VFX to a piece of footage. I want to have the footage not to appear and only have the adjustment layer present with a transparent alpha background. The problem is when I try to hide the footage from the render, the adjustment layer disappears as well and leaves nothing but the transparent background. If ayone has any input about only rendering the adjustment layer without having the background footage in the render, it would be very helpful. Thank you.

 Hello everyone,I'm having a persistent issue in After Effects 2024. When I create a new camera and go to the **Camera Options**, the only setting that shows up is **Zoom**. I’ve tried multiple solutions, including:1. Ensuring that at least one layer is set to 3D.2. Creating both 1-node and 2-node cameras.3. Resetting the workspace and preferences.4. Switching between GPU acceleration and Mercury Software Only.Unfortunately, none of these steps seem to bring back the full set of camera options like **Depth of Field** and **Focus Distance**.Has anyone else experienced this in the 2024 version? Hi! Ive recently installed BCC Plugins and I can see it on my effects and presets tab but whenever I try to use it my after effects crashes. How do I fix it?

I literally don't even know what to Google to find an answer  so I'm just going to explain step by step here - I'm brand new to After Effects and know next to nothing about it (much more well versed in PS and AI) and I'm trying to do a very simple logo animation following a tutorial on YouTube.In the tutorial we're animating the LinkedIn logo.I import the logo image, add it to the timeline, and duplicate it to animate the text and icon separately.I put a rectangle mask over the text layer and then one over the icon layer.I then use the pan behind tool and set the anchor point in the center of the icon layer.I then set markers at 0, 1, and 2 seconds and move my playhead to 1 secondHere's where I run into my issue:In the tutorial he simply selects the text layer and moves it to the right, holding shift so they beginning of the layer snaps into place at the 1 second marker where the playhead is In my file, when I try

Hate to be repetative and bring up an old topic; however, it is extremely concerning that it is impossible to uninstall Maxon cinema 4D due to the software (creative cloud) forcefully reinstalling Maxon cinema 4D, without consent. There is a topic on this in the forums with lots of incorrect answers and so my goal with this post is to clear up confusion and welcome truthful, honest answers about the automatic installation of Maxon Cinema 4D First, uninstalling the software does not work. The software reinstalls itself automatically. The steps published in this article are false. Second, there is no mention of Maxon Computer Gmbh as a licensor in the 3rd Party Legal notice for after effects. Third, the software is unusable without creating an account with Maxon. All in all, this behavior is extremely provocative and counter-productive. In fact, it is bizarre that this is still an issue in 2024

      When selecting a Composite Tab the search bar automatically turns white and is ready for me to search for some. I haven't selected this but it is automatically ready for me to search something.

So im trying to recreate Spectrum like in that video.But, It supposed to be "bigger", isnt it? Also it has an invisible barrier even though i applied Motion Tile and set Output Height to 260. Whats the matter? 

Hi!I'm doing a crazy thing where I animate gaming video subtitles from Premiere Pro into After Effects to give it more quality. I'd love to have in the library a way to this: - Go to in point- Add a "0" value scale keyframe- Go forward 5 frames- Add a "100" value scale Keyframe- Go to out point- Add a "0" value scale keyframe- Go backwards 5 frames- Add a "100" value scale keyframe And then continue to the next layers. Also, It'd be really useful an "Un-precompose" action too, where the elements of precomposition come out of the precomp and places in time in your main comp I used to do this actions with another automation application, but now I'd love to rely more on Automation Blocks for these tasks If these work, I might have some more ideas in mind for these same kind of videos which are actually very requested. Thank you very much in advance!

Layer below the adjustment layer goes invisible in after effects, please help!  

Does anyone know if you can use the linear function to deform a path?In below, the triangle goes from left to right, but its path deforms slightly.If the triangle was moving to the right from a position of (0,0) to (100,0) ...I thought of using something like this in the Path property expression:A=path.key(1)B=path.key(2)linear(position, 0, 100, A, B)But it doesnt work because path is not an array, it's a path object. I tried using pointonpath but to no avail.

I've been using After Effects for 2.5 years, but I never understood this problem. People can see the fill in the videos made for this, but when I click on the solid layer, the fill disappears. please i need help...
