After Effects

I'm having a recurring issue where I open a particular AE file, and either the Composition Panel is immediately white, or after a few seconds it turns white, and then I can no longer scrub along the timeline and the program crashes within a few seconds. Sometimes my screen will go completely black for a second upon opening, and then when the screen comes back, the Composition Panel will be white.  It seems to be an issue with one particular project file. While I've been using AE on this computer for a few months now, this project file is the first one where I've really been using it intensely (aka, dozens & dozens of pre-comps). This also happened shortly after I started a LinkedIn Learning AE course, which involved downloading a number of AE files from old versions of AE. Not sure if that is at all related. The issue seemed to be fixed a month or so ago and I worked in that project for a few weeks without issue, but I just now imported the comp into a premiere proje

Hello Community,Please see my screenshot below, I can't figure out how the position property in a group transform is derived.  I understand the relationship between the composition coords and the layer coords re. anchor points and position; but the group position property is confusing me; I can't relate its coords to the layer or the comp.  I've searched for info but to no avail.  Please adivse or point me in the right direction.  Thanks in advance for your help!  

In general, I did the animation of the shape, and now I need to add this effect as in the video https://youtu.be/XWw6sxAQYDY?feature=shared , I tried to add blur and glow, but they went beyond the boundaries of shape 1 (I created two shapes: shape 1 and shape 2, shape 1 is the main animation and shape 2 is trail, and blur and glow 2 trail shapes went beyond the boundaries of 1 shape). Can you tell me how to make sure that they do not go beyond the borders? 

Hi, I'm new to C4D lite. I built a simple text animation in the software, when I brought it into AE, the live link was disabled, and I couldn't edit nor even scale the imported file.I went through some tutorials and discussions online, but there's no " enable live link" option in my C4D preferences. I don't know what to do. I opened a new Maxon C4D file and created a cube to test it out, this time AE didn't even show the C4D panel in Effect Control.I'm sooooooo confused right now and hopefully, someone can help me. Thanks soooooo much!!!!

I'm working on geolayers3 content in which I have to import 3D Objects like "airplane, cars etc ". I tried .glb .gltf .obj but whenever i import them this happens as showing in SS. Please anyone help me to solve this issue 😞 

command option shift G isnt scaling the picture to full frame. i can still see like a micro hair of alpha channel in the background. see attached screenshot. Mac os sequoia 15.1.1, after effects version 25.1.0 (build 68), its been doing this on a few templates now

i dont know what happend,yesterday every thing was working great and file was working smothly.today when i opened the file again this happend to every composition is seletced but in the tab below nothing is select and file is very slow now i cant find any thing about this 

Hello community! I'm working on a 3D comp with a bunch of black tiles scattered along the XYZ axis, which are supposed to get whiter the farther away they are from a camera that moves along the Z axis. The way I want to achieve this is with some sort of white 3D cube parented to the camera which has 0% opacity at Z position 0, and progressively reaches 100% opacity at its maximum Z position (let's say 5000, AKA the opposite end of the cube). Is there any way to do this? Thanks a lot in advance! I've attached an image that better showcases what I want to achieve for the cube so that you can get a better understanding of what I mean, & a handmade reference of the final result.

If a mask is applied to a layer, and then scale keyframes are added to that layer, the ability to use the Selection Tool to click and drag the position of that layer within the Composition Preview Window breaks. Strangely, the effect of this bug is also dependent upon the position of the layer on the timeline. The bug's severity increases the farther to the right the layer is positioned in the timeline. So, for example, if the layer begins at the start of the timeline, the click-drag on the layer in the Composition Preview Window works as intended. The farther you move the layer to the right in the timeline, the smaller the active clickable area is in the Composition Preview Window, and instead of dragging the layer when you click on it, it drags the mask instead. I've attached a video showing the bug in action. Up to :33 seconds, you see the expected behavior. After :33, you can see that the Selection Tool can no longer drag the layer and instead drags the mask. AE 25.1

I am trying to use an expression to set a text layer to the name of the comp,  but the text is somehow getting reversed.    I am using this expression for the source text :  thisComp.name  - but when it appears in the comp,  some of the characters are swapped around.   See attatched where the yellow text is the dynamic live text generated from the white comp name below. But notice how the yellow text has swapped the "010" and "0500".  Maddening.... 

Hello everyone,I’m new to After Effects and I’m encountering an issue with the vectorization of texts and tools. Just to clarify, I’m only referring to native After Effects tools and texts (not projects imported from Illustrator or Photoshop).Here’s the situation: only solids, rectangles, and rounded rectangles appear to be vectorized. Texts, however, are not. The Continuously Rasterize button is grayed out, and I’ve set the resolution to Full. I’m also using the latest version (25.1) and haven’t changed any default settings.Could you please let me know if I’m missing something or if there’s a specific step I should follow to resolve this issue?Thank you in advance for your help, and have a wonderful day! 😊

Hello everyone, I’m creating this topic about an issue that has been discussed many times before: preserving colors for videos shot on an iPhone in HDR (15 Pro Max, in this case).I’ve watched every YouTube video imaginable: some are outdated, while others offer slight improvements but don’t achieve perfection. First point: all the tutorials I found were for Premiere Pro, not After Effects. I'm having a minor interface inconvenience. I don't know if it's me or After Effects... I am working on multiple comps, and switch between them via the Timeline Panel. The problem is that there are certain Comps/Timelines where the search box panel in the timeline is always activated when I switch to it. Meaning I might quickly switch timelines, hit the keyboard shortcut for a ram preview - but nothing happens because all I've done is type 0 into the search field. I have to click away, then hit 0 again to get my preview. I might then work on other comps with no problem, but the search panel on this particular timeline will always be pre-selected when I return to it. It's a minor frustration. Anyone know what's going on?

It's hard to rotate where you want in AE? Hello, I am using adobe after effects 2025 and I want to be able to move this raindrop over to the left but everytime I do, it wont attach the straight path and the other drops with it. Once i select everything and move it over, only the path of the big raindrop moves but it moves in a diagonal. I am not even sure if this makes sense as I am new to after effects. I have attached images below.

Hello!I'm having trouble with the Corner Distor effect. I've had similar issues with warp & distort effects in the past but just work around them. Now I'm not sure how to and think it would probably more efficient to learn what the actual issue is and fix it.I used Corner Distort to make a Composition (two animated stickfigures, comp named "Whiteboard Drawing Small" ) fit the whiteboard. It works in the original composition (Composition named "Office Client POV" and even in a Compositon further up when in original size, but completly moves out of place when I scale the composition. Why does it do this? How can I lock the distorted composition so that it is scaled just like the composition it's nestled in? Thanks in advance!

I'm on Creative Cloud 24 and I can't stop Cinema 4D from installing whenever After Effects is updated. Cinema 4D by Maxon is checked as Added in the Add-ons tab and I there is no way to uncheck it. I just updated to AE version 24.4.1 and, of course, Cinema 4D installed. I use Blender and do NOT WANT TO INSTALL Cinema 4D every time After Effects updates. Initially, I had Cinema 4D not selected in the Add-ons, but somehow it changed to Added somewhere along the way.How can I permanently disable the installation of Cinema 4D and turn off the Added in the Add-on tab? I never want to see Cinema 4D installed again!  

In AE 25.1 (and also 25) content of script UI panels often disappear and only AE restart helps to bring it back.This issue is new to AE 25 and forces me to not use it (AE25), because I use lot of handy scripts with their UI panels. I attached both states - When it is OK, and after finished render. Sometimes it dissapear sometimes not. This bug affects all script UI panels but not affect panels from extensions (like you can see on Kbar on the left)
