After Effects

I had to pick up a project again that I had finished 2 months ago. I was working on v24 but now I am on v25. Every single .ae file from that project crashes on opening: previouse versions, autosave...I have tried unistalling ae, reinstalling both 24 and 25, restarting computer, restarting with plugins disabled, clearing cache, importing in a new project... nothing works. I am on a Macbook Pro M1 Max. I tried opening a couple of the .ae files of this project on my old PC and they open just fine with no issues. I then tried to save another copy from my PC by either just saving incremental and opening a new blank project, importing the ae and saving a new file. Nothing works. this is the report file, can anybody help me understand what could be the issue? Is there a way to export SRT or VTT file from AE for CC videos?

Hello guys, I am trying to export from AE with a transparent background logo in 3D to MP4 format.It's not working with RGB + ALPHA, only separetly - one file RGB and another alpha... I want to have it as one in MP4 format, any tips?

I have created a BG in photoshop to be used in the 3D camera in AE.There are several layers and folders in the psd -file so there will be many subcomps.As I understand it you need to make all layers into 3D layers to work in the camera view.Is there a way to mark a layer in a comp and it's subcomps in an easy way.best regardsMattias( using AE 2018 at this time )

Bonjour,J'ai un projet contenant un fichier première pro et un fichier after effect, ces fichier sont sur mon disque dur externe. Mon fichier Premier Pro s'ouvre mais les lien adobe dynamik link venant de mon fichier after effect se casse dès que j'ouvre mon fichier sur un nouvel ordinateur. Le problème s'est agravé puisque maintenant dès que je tente d'ouvrir mon fichier After effect mon logiciel crash. Concrètement : - J'ouvre AE, je clique sur ouvrir un projet- Je sélectionne mon fichier, il y a la petite fenêtre de chargement- Puis After effect ne répond plus et ça me met le message windows" fermer l'application ou attendre que l'application réponde"J'ai essayé de réinstallé AE, sans succés, j'ai éssaye de copier collé mon fichier sur mon ordinateur en me disant que le problème venait peut-être du disque dur, mais apparement non. J'ai supprimer tout mes plugins (je n'avais que les plugins DUIK que je n'utilise pas pour mon projet) Il s'agit de la derni

Do somebody know how to get rid of that TIME CONTROL black rectangle on my After Effects Screen? It appears also when I export my video or gif animated.

Hi, I am a complete newbie to AE expressions. I have 24 comps that I don't want them all to start to play at the same time, I would like them to start randomly, essentially randomly delay each comp by a few seconds. I don't want to stagger the comps as the project may grow and I would rather use an expression if possible. I found the code below but I am getting an error. Can someone please advise me? Hi I'm totally new to after effect and I'm trying to follow tutorials along, but i encountered one issue. when i create 3d objects (sorry if i don't know the technical names yet) and i activate the 2 view camera to edit the depth, sometimes the bars doesn't move at all, and then if i try to get out of that view (going back to 1 view), to try a different approach, instead of going to the main composition, AE only shows the black screen that's supposed to control the main comp. I cant seem to find a solution for this other that reopening the program completely, even if i rest the workspace, no matter what i do it just wont go away. Any solution to this?PS: Also sorry about any grammatical mistakes, English is my second language.

Hi there,I am experiencing a continuous lagging issue while using the Roto Brush on my 8GB Ram M1 MacBook Pro. Whenever I try to apply it on a clip, it stutters and fails to preview the footage making me unable to proceed. I have searched for this issue and tried every possible troubleshooting such as: 1. Reducing the RAM reserved for other applications and giving After Effects all the installed Rams.2. Clearing the cache and the desk3. Trying other versions of Roto Brush from version 1 to 34. Closing any app working in the background and leaving AF only active.5. Using proxy footage and working with it.6. Updating the AF to its latest version.7. Tried to divide a 2-minute clip into fewer portions and try on everyone individually but I keep facing the same issue and can't use the tool as well. And other workarounds as well but I keep facing the same issue, please provide me with a solution as I need to use this tool ASAP. Thank you. 

I'm working with a 3D object (cube) in After Effects and aiming to cast realistic shadows for it. My composition includes 3D camera tracking data, and I've encountered a problem with the object's position relative to the viewport.In After Effects 25.0.1, I've noticed that shadows are only rendered when the 3D object fits within the viewport from the top view. I've colored the shadow red to make it more noticeable.Here is an image demonstrating the object inside the viewport from the top view, where the shadow is rendered correctly.However, according to my tracking data, the object often falls outside the viewport from the top view, resulting in the shadow not appearing at all. Is there a solution to render the shadow even when the object is positioned outside the viewport from the top view?Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.Thanks in advance! 

Hi! I'm using the 3D Camera Tracker to integrate text in a scene, but the text looks very fake. What could I do to blend it better?Adding grain, noise, blur, and matching the depth of field are great initial steps, but they often aren’t enough to fully integrate the text into the scene. I was hoping for something like Photoshop’s 'Blend If' to better match lighting and textures.  Thank you! Christian.

I have a new Project. I import a 20 min 360VR video sequence, and drag it into the interface to create a new composition.  After a few seconds, After Effects starts caching the frames into RAM (A green line above the composition timeline.) I can see the RAM usage go up and up very quickly. And will simply keep filling up RAM memory with the cached frames until After Effects errors out.  I can turn this off in each individual composition by going to Composition>Preview and unticking "Cache frames when idle" First. After Effects should not be filling the memory with cached frames. A bit of memory sure. But NOT the whole thing. Especially since I have a nice speedy SSD that I've pointed the cache folders at. Second. There is no option to turn off the Cache Frames when Idle for new compositions. ESPECIALLY given this huge problem that should be an option. I have been trying to find if there is any way of limiting the RAM cache. Either when preview

Hi there, I opened a few months old project which used the Wave Warp effect and noticed it had completely broken, it didn't look like the final render. After some detective work, it seems Adobe increased by x8 the resolution of the effect from version 24.5 to 24.6, but that seems to also have altered the way the "phase" value works.So for example if you had something looping with Phase going from 20° to 70° for the wave to loop, it will not loop accordingly now as the parameters have changed. The solution I found was multiplying all phase values by 8 and that brought things back to normal. But it's a pain and I think the most reasonable would be for Adobe to update the Phase parameter on their end so old projects with Wave Warp still work. Hope it gets solved soon.Thanks

Hello!How can I recreate this animated infinite strokes scene from Ariana Grande - Problem ft. Iggy Azalea.I plan to mask the subjects in my video using rotoscope but I don't know how to replicate this infinite strokes effect. All suggestions are very much appreciated 🙂  

I use the shift key a ton to snap layers in time to each other, but notice it's very inaccurate unless the timeline is zoomed way in. Example is moving a layer ajacent to another when the timeline is zoomed out and holding shift key down, it almost always overlaps by a frame. When I zoom in, the snapping will happen very precisely then. Hope that makes sense!
