After Effects

Hello,so I have these elements in 3D space (layers). And I want to connect them with a line. My approach was this:1. Draw a line path (shape layer)2. Make it 3D3. Use the "Create Nulls from Paths" script and create Nulls for the individual points of the path4. Make the Nulls 3D5. Link the Nulls' position to the position of the elements I have in 3D space This seems to work until I enable DOF on my camera. Then all the elements get blurred but not the path strokes.I had a look from the top and I saw the layer with the paths was plane and had no depth. It is some kind of a fake 3D effect with them. That is why there is no DOF. I guess that is the reason for Trapcode 3D Stroke to exist. I attached an example of what I want to create here. I assume that the brain was done using Trapcode Form. But I have no idea how to add the lines that connect the elements (in this case with the brain) in a real 3D space. Another thing that just came to my mind was that it might have b

I have a project with compositions within compositions.For example: Final composition < Pre-comp < Character composition I've added sound to the "Character composition", just like I've done a million of times before, on other projects. Now, if I go to any composition that is before that (either "Pre-comp" or "Final composition"), the sound won't play at all. There is no wave form at all, the audio levels are normal and I am sure it's not muted on the timeline.What's weird about it is that it plays normally on it's own composition. The sound won't render either if I render any of those other pre-compositions.

My project is very simple: several layers of photoshop and one two-minute video in mp4 format. I'm using the wiggle expression on four layers and using the blend mode (screen) on the video. When I'm trying to render a 2 minute video in mp4 format. I'm getting a stupid error. AE uses all my RAM and stops rendering... How do I fix this?My specs:Premiere Pro v24.0.0 (Build 58).OS: Windows.CPU: Ryzen 9 3900X.GPU: RTX 2080s.RAM: 64. 

Whenever I do CTRL + A and paste the same preset I want on all layers, it pastes on the same current time indicator on every layer. But I want it to paste according to the START of each layer, not where the current time indicator is located on the timeline.It's caused me to have to manually adjust my current time indicator to the start of each layer and paste the preset individually and costs me a lot of time.Anyone know how to fix this? because i need to apply text bounce to each individual text on my work but there's over 300 pieces of text!

- Saved and exported video with logo aligned to the centre of the image uploaded (base logo image) and to the animation.- Renewed adobe liscence.- Come back to the file to see logo has shifted to the right of the box containing the uploaded logo image. All effects have also been shifted to the right. In both the rendered video and the original image upladed for the logo the logo was centred in the image/video. 

Hello all,I'm trying to create a simple expression that will clamp an input based on another value. More specifically, I have a slider for a month input and a day input and I'm trying tp set up the "DAY"  slider so that depending on what month is inputted in the MONTH slider, the DAY slider will only allow values that correspond to actual calendar values. E.g. if the MONTH slider is set to "2" (february) then if you put "32" for the DAY it'll just change it to "28". I wrote this expression but I have no idea what is wrong based on the error which is:"Property or method named "A" in class 'global' does not exist or is missing. I have logged in and out of CC, uninstalled the app using creative cloud cleaner tool and restarted my computer and I still cannot open my AE files. I also cant work out how to contact anybody at adobe directly the website is sending me in circles, nightmare ! For reference I am using the most recent version of AE on windows 10. Pls help I've got a deadline tomorrow.

Hey! So basically I had an After Effects comp linked to my Premiere as you do and half way through working on the comp it somehow decided to create a new comp by it self and added a "2" at the end of the file name. So I thught it was weird, but no problem I just clicked on "Replace with After Effects composition" in Premiere once again and selected the newly created comp 2 because half the progress was made in that new one and I hadn't realised. And when I did that it opened up the comp and everytrhing was completely gone. Just a blank project. Is there any way I can get this back? Literally just lost hours of work. I have auto saves set up, but there's nothing there related to the specific comp. Most likely because of the weird way it was automatically just created in the middle of me working on the original.

Hey folks,I'm currently creating new creatives and ads for social media (SoMe) using After Effects. My primary aspect ratios are 1080x1080 and 1080x1920. However, when I finish designing an ad in a composition with a 1080x1080 aspect ratio, including keyframing positions on layers, I encounter difficulty copying all layers to a second composition with a different aspect ratio (1080x1920).The challenge lies in the discrepancy in layer positions and keyframes when pasting into the new composition. This disrupts workflow, requiring extensive readjustment of layers to maintain the original design.I'm seeking advice on the best practices for efficiently transferring designs between compositions with varying aspect ratios in After Effects. Hi, all,I've recently purchased After Effects CC 2019 for my Mac and I'm completely new to the program, and I'm having a few issues with it. I've been watching some tutorials and I see that everyone's able to drag clips/keyframes easily along the timeline, but whenever I try that on my project, it's like they're frozen. I can move them using brackets—[]—but that's all, and it's getting really annoying to do. Even trying to use the little arrows beside the clips to shrink them/make them longer and all of that doesn't work. I'm not sure what's going on.

Hi, Any help would be greatly appreciated. I would like to Pause video layer with an expression for x seconds. after x seconds it should play as normal. The video could be in a comp if that helps. I would like to trigger it either on the video layer or from elsewhere in the project but it must be done with an AE expression.  Thank you! Nick

Hello all, I saw this clip a while back and really loved this motion-tile type of collage, where the individual frames sort of scale and as one scales, the others interactively scale smaller or larger - it gives it a very organic feel. I have been trying to recreate this in AE, what I thought originally was just super simple but am completely dumbfounded and unable to achieve the same look. I have tried finding tutorials but nothing helpful except for just typical boring motion tile type of tutorials that are quite basic. I have become quite familiar with AE but am not as well-versed yet so I am learning but a pretty quick learner so this may end up being just a super simple thing to do and I am overthinking it completely. I have tried all sorts of stuff already but nothing very effective or efficient. I don't want just basic motion tile, again i really want that interactive-ness that the individual frames have with each other. Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated! Than

In short, I'm trying to see if there is a way in expressions to find the next layer up the stack that shares a parent. The caveat is that the only thing I can reliably know is that those layers (and only those layers) will share parent. They might not share any part of their name and they might not be next to each other in the layer stack. I sort of figure it would be something like:"Look one layer up. Does that layer have the same parent? Yes - look at property x. No - go to next layer up. Does that layer have the same parent..." (and so on). I'm not sure how one would code "keep looking till you find something or reach the top" but I think there has to be a way to do this. For context: I'm making a template of sorts for the other motion graphic designers on my team. Hi, I am trying to create some motion text templates in AE. I want it to be easy to use for beginners as imported in Premiere Pro and so I am trying to limit the editing options to the minimum. Only thing that i could not solve is how to limit colors so that in premiere pro , the user could have a choice out of i.e. two or three (brand colors only) of them. Is there any way to achieve that? any expressions maybe?

So I've made a template in After Effects for graphic designers like me where people can update the vector file in Illustrator which updates everything in Ae.. But I ran into a problem with compatibility, even tho' most people can open the template without any problems, there are few that have issues with changing the global colors which are controlled with main Adjustment layer.. Weird thing is that most other things are working just fine, but it seems that the expression that controls the colors is broken when the file is converted to their version of Ae. So my question would be, what version of Ae would be the best for something like this that will be used with many different people with lots of different versions of Ae?  My version is 23.2.0

Hello, This is my first time posting in the Adobe Community, as I have only recently started learning Adobe After Effects. I am trying to create a video or gif of an eclipsing binary star, where the smaller star passes periodically infront of the larger star as it orbits it. Please see the attached gif file. To create that, I used an elipse for the orbit of the star and then created a "trace path" null. I then linked the smaller star's layer to the trace path null, so that the smaller star orbits the bigger star. To overcome the issue of the smaller star being always on top of the larger star (even when I want it to be behind) I used a mask and keyframes to change the opacity of the mask. I am not saying it is the neatest way of doing things but basically my knowledge and experience with After Efects ends there. Now, the animation starts with the smaller star behind the larger star because the "trace path" script put the null there. I don't seem to find a way to change i

Hey guys I am trying to create a neon box around a subject and have the glow flicker to a certain db range of the audio file. I've done this for scale before and the expression is relatively easy to set a thresh hold but opacity doesn't seem to work as friendly. I have got it semi working but I have no expression to control the opacity min/max and no expression to control which frequency the opacity reacts to. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I just simply want the glow to come in and out to a certain range of the beat. Not great with expressions so keep that in mind in case it's really advanced lol. Still learning the expressions side and how the coding works. Thanks in advance for any help!

I'm animating some pages and stacking them on the left side. The problem is that the bottom page should be on top of the already-turned page, in my example, pg3 should be on top of pg1, and not below it. I also have the BCC Turn Page, I don't know if that effect could make it easier. I've attached one pic to better understanding of my little big noob problem.

Hi Everybody, I'm using fractal noise and polar coordinates to try and get a tempest cloud-like look. I'm having some success, but...in using polar coordinates I have this seam repeat at the 0/top part. I imagine this is a known thing, but I can't seem to figure out how to make this effect seamless.  Are there anhy known patches or tricks for this? None of the setting and reversing is working that I've tried.

Hello everyone.The following problem:I have a png with a circle. As you can see, there is plenty of room between the edge of the circle and the edge of the picture.Now I wanted to apply a blur to this image and put it on top of another picture. But that created a hard edge, which is kinda weird, because the image should be big enough to leave room for the blur.I already tried to put it into a sub-composition and to apply the blur onto that, but it resulted in exactly the same result.I am kinda lost here, anyone got an idea?

Original file is a 12 min. 4K 30fps iPhone video that plays back without any problems. After editing down to under 6 min. and doing some color correction in AE, every attempt at rendering in Media Encoder, no matter what codec I choose (including ProRes 4444), always results in certain sections of the video playing back stuttering at a reduced frame rate.   Those sections are always the same in each instance.  I also tried reducing the resolution in ME to HD and get the same stuttered result.

Hi, I want to calculate the angle of a text layer and its transparency when an animator acts on it. I would like to do this dynamically, using a script or expressions.The bounding box calculation is not suitable because the animator does not change the angle of the layer. Its points are not movable.I understand that there is no direct way, but perhaps someone has ideas on this matter?
