After Effects

This problem only seems to start after 10 minutes or so of using After Effects.Every effect I add or try to edit in the effects panel in my project causes After Effects to jump into a pre comp and select a random solid layer. Really frustrating.  The only way I can continue working is by going back to the main comp and having to edit the effect properties in the layers window rather than the effects panel. This is really tedious when dealing with multiple layers with multiple effects. Copying and pasting the effect has the same result.I moved to 24.0.2 release due to an error that was stopping me from previewing anything with the Cinema 4D 3D renderer enabled - but this new error is even worse!Any thoughts on a solution?Window 10AMD Ryzen 7 5800X 8-Core Processor64GB RAMEVGA GeForce GTX 1080ti 11GB FTW3 Graphics Card

Aunque ya he hecho varios vídeos de AE, me considero un usuario novel. En estos momentos, estoy con un macOs versión 12.7.4, procesador 3,2 GHz Intel Core i5 de 4 núcleos, 32 GB de memoria, tarjeta gráfica AMD Radeon R9 M380 2GB, y casi 400 GB de memoria SSD. Anteriormente estaba con un equipo inferior en procesador y memoria, pero a veces también me pasaba el problema que voy a contar. Es más, vídeos que hice con el anterior equipo y versión 22 de After Effects, ahora los abro con el nuevo equipo (más potente se supone), y con versión 23 o 24 de After, y también me hace el fallo. El problema que tengo es que el procesamiento de vídeo a H264 no se realiza correctamente ni en la propia cola de AE ni si lo llevo a Media Encoder. En uno y otro lugar, la previsualización la hace correctamente pero cuando abro el mp4 resultante, o bien sale un vídeo negro, o bien sale un vídeo en el que no está la animación completa. Hi, I am prototyping an interactive installation and need to trigger a local server over TCP/ Socket.I'd like to use layer markers to set the point in time when this call is happening. I managed to bild a script that compares current time and marker time, but it only works when manually placing the playhead and not during playback. I also looked into using expressions to track the markers with the same result. Is there any way to monitor and trigger during playback eg. pulling the previewtime as reference? Appreciate any thoughts or ideas!

Hi Everybody, I tried importing an MP4 with excellent color and upon import the color is terrible, really washed out. (image attached). I looks fine in the browser window or Quicktime, but in After Effects it looks awful. I had the same problem in Premiere and updating the display color fixed the problem, but I can't find the resolve for AE (or Photoshop). Can somebody please tell me why this is happening or what the fix might be? 

I'll be able to use After Effects as usual for 5-20 minutes before it freezes for two and then shuts down my whole MacBook for 10 minutes. Once I've got it on again, I get this error message from my MacBook and another from After Effects. I've tried creating new projects (so it's not a corrupted file), uninstalling and reinstalling the application, and clearing the cache, but still, nothing has fixed this. Both my MacBook and After Effects are fully updated. I've been able to use After Effects fine before, so I have no idea what has caused this.

Complete beginner here...do be kind. When I import a video clip into AE to stabilize camera shake, the image is tiny. I'm assuming I need proper settings on my dslr, which I did set according to the manual. Do I need to alter them at import? Any help greatly appreciated.

I have the following expression in a template:comp("_CHANGE_LANGUAGE_HERE_").layer("Story01_End").text.sourceText.split("§").join("\r"); text.sourceText.style.setFont("Oswald-Bold"); The first part grabs a text from a tsv file, selects a language using a dropdown and adds line breaks based on the "§" symbols in that text. That works fine. We've recently added a new language that requres a different font (Omnes vs OmnesGreek, both from Adobe Fonts), because it can't display the greek letters. So I'm planning to change the font to the Greek version, if the dropdown "GR" is selected. However, as a basic proof of concept I'm trying it without any of that logic here, just trying to override the font panel font with the new font (in the example Oswald-Bold is selected, that's a copy error but I can't edit the code snippet, ignore that). But this doesn't work. I am trying to make it particles look like they are shooting out from the large circle like shape at the bottom, and I am using CC Particle World due to it having the look I am going for. The particles' emitions are tied to music, and this is causing me an issue. I can set the producer to be the shape of the large particle so that the particles shoot off at the correct angles, but then the travel for those particles is very long making it not actually match with the music when the particles appear. I can set the producer to be smaller, but then the particles shoot off at the wrong angles. I wanted to ask if anyone had any advice or solutions to fix this problem. Thank you! 

I'm trying to import a stepped sequence into After Effects, with one frame every 10 frames.Is there any way to import this as a sequence, ignoring the missing frames and showing the last frame for the duration of missing frames?So if I'd have frame 0,10,20 etc. frame 10 would show for 10-19 in the sequence. I know I can do this manually by dropping all frames on the timeline, cut and sequence them, but I'm hoping for some script or quicker way to do this. Thanks

When importing from After Effects, the psd file comes as a photo but does not open as a composition. I check the layer layout and there are no problems. 4 studies have the same problem, but one does not. Why could it be? They were all prepared the same way.

I'm having the hardest time applying the tracking data to a video file that is supposed to go onto a phone. After using Mocha to track the screen, when I create the tracking data and apply it to a solid or a video, the content moves into the frame correctly but it won't track throughout the rest of the shot. Appreciate any help!

Hi! I love the new built-in feature "create nulls from paths." However, sometimes I get an issue where the newly created nulls are not where they should be. Please see the examples below, where the front leg of the bicyclist kicks out four misplaced nulls. Anyone else having this issue? Any workarounds? Fixes? Advice?Thanks!

(Images attached below) I recently updated my version of after effects to 24.3, but now it won't open and all i'll receive is this message stating my last session crashed:It gives me about 2 seconds before this screen will pop up, giving me no time to interact with any of the options above:When I view the report It looks like this, and I'm not sure where to go from here:I can't open any past version of After Effects as the same issue occurs. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling, and every other Creative Cloud app works just fine. I also have no plugins so I'm not sure what else could be causing the crashing. Arguably the best video use for AI generated images is Matte Paintings. While you can use generative AI for all sorts of things, it often has limitations for films, movies and TV show, not to mention web content - mainly because its static and a bit lifeless. AI video generation looks impressive, but that could be a while before it becomes main stream. In the meantime, the artists who create matte paintings have been finding ways to get movement and life into their artwork using techniques perfected for over a century of movie making. In this video, I take an image generated by Adobe Firefly and animate the clouds, add water, make the leaves on the trees flutter, animate a 3D camera to push in and even add stock footage of birds! All to bring the scene to life. And as always, I'll try to introduce you to tools in After Effects that you may not be familiar with, like the liquify effect, adding layer markers and track mattes.

Hi, im using your SF-Subtitles Plug-in on After Effects. After the last update(24.3), it stopped working. I'm encountring an error which says "Unable to execute script at line 27. Uncaught JavaScript exception: (object Object)I tried some of the possible ways which i saw here or other helpful websites. (like delete and install again, changing between "Scripts" and "ScriptsUI Panels" folders.) but nothing change. It's because of the latest after effects update i guess but i had to do it bacuse when yout hit G button on keyboard you couldn't reach the pen tool before this version.That was a huge problem too.. Anyone experiencing same? Can you show me a possible way ASAP please. I got a long video to sub 🙂

Hello! I have followed numerous tutorials on YouTube to extrude a 2D PNG into a 3D object so I can make it rotate, but no matter what I do, whenever I duplicate the layer enough times to make it 3D, the object has a weird line going through it from the side view. It looks like the layers are perhaps not close enough together. It does this with ANY 2D PNG I try to use. It looks like this before and after exporting. Changing blend mode did not help. I reset and updated all my preferences and nothing. It looks fine from every angle but the side, so  I can't rotate it! I have managed to create a working scrollable container that gets it's height dynamically increased, but as soon as i dynamically populate content, it kind of not render more than ~90 rows of content. The script reports number of rows correctly, and even scroll scrolls the proper amount. However after these ~90 rows nothing is being displayed there. I have even tested if these rows are there, and the script sees them. They are just not displayed for some reason 😕😕 Trying to troubleshoot it, but cant find any information about some hard limits i might not know of. Do anyone know of such limits of panel area? Perhaps its not just height but the total area like width*height that after reaching some threshold is being cut off?  

Hi guys,i installed after effects 2 weeks ago.And I wanted to install some plug ins but there is one problem.I don't have the file support files.I watched YouTube videos how to install plugins and you need the file support files but I don't have it.Why and how can I install plugins?

I'm doing some online training for After Effects but they're using AE2020.They refer to 'Compositing Options' applied to individual effects (here to apply effect specific masks) which are visible under each effect in the layer dropdown. See image for ref.Can someone point me to these 'Compositing Options' in AE2024 please?Thanks,Robin 

Hi everyone, Is there an issue between the essential properties and source text (that has been put in Essential Graphics)? If I make a text layer in an otherwise empty composition, and I put the source text property of the text layer in Essential graphics, I can edit the text via the Essential Graphics panel.But if I want to edit the text via the Essential Properties panel, and push to primary comp, I get the following error "After effects error: internal verification error (unexpected match name searched for in group (29 :: 0)" and it deletes the text layer, and sometimes AE even crashes completely.  The problem also occurs with text labels from the Animation Composer plug-in, but with those text labels it gets even weirder, 'cause when I want to edit the text in the textlayer itself (so going into the label composition, not via the animation composer of essential properties/graphics panel) it shows the text I type backwards, and after that it gives me the sam

Hi, I'm trying to make an animation with one shape layer that rotates, and another layer that moves with the rotation, but horizontally. Is there any way to parent the rotation property to the other shape layers horizontal position? To explain the attached photo: I want the lines under the round shape to move when I rotate the round shape, like a scroll effect horizontally. Thanks!/Jo
