Hi everyone,I'm working on an automation project in After Effects using data from a JSON file,but I'm hitting a wall with linking my logos.The Setup:I have a pre-comp named TRING_LOGOS containing a Dropdown Menu Control. Inside this comp,I have a simple setup where the menu selects different logos. This works perfectly when controlled manually.I have exposed this Dropdown Menu to the Master Comp using Essential Properties.My JSON file sends the channel data as a String (e.g., "SPORT1"), not a number.The Problem:When I try to link the JSON data directly to the Dropdown Menu property in the Master Comp,I get an Expression Error. I realize this is because the Dropdown Menu expects an Index/Integer(1, 2, 3...), but my JSON is providing a String ("SPORT1").The Question:Is there an expression I can apply to the Dropdown Menu property that will lookup the string from the JSON, match it against a list of my menu items,and automatically return the correct index number?I have attached a video sh

I would like to report a version-specific issue in Adobe After Effects.After Effects 24.6.8 works perfectly on my system with no performance or stability issues.However, in After Effects versions 25 and above, the Composition Panel frequently freezes during work, while the rest of the interface may remain partially responsive.Because of this issue, the newer versions are currently unusable for professional projects, and I am forced to stay on 24.6.8.System specifications:• Laptop: ASUS ROG Strix 16• Processor: Intel Core Ultra 9• RAM: 16 GB• Stable Version: After Effects 24.6.8• Problematic Versions: After Effects v25 and aboveThis appears to be a regression or compatibility issue introduced in v25+ rather than a hardware limitation.Requesting Adobe to investigate this issue and provide a fix or recommended workaround.

Does AE have a transform mode that allows for selecting and transforming selected path nodes, similar to below:rotating the hand seperatly

When i try to launch After Effects this message pops up. After EffectsAfter Effects can’t continue: An unexpected error has occurred and After Effects will now shutdown.Please check you have the appropriate permissions to launch After Effects as well as read/write access to the After Effects preferences folder.If any other error messages were displayed prior to this, please review, and resolve if possible.

I tried tracking some footage but the analysis failed.  Now my preview has a red banner across it saying, "3d camera tracker doesn't work with time remapping" and I can't get it to go away.  I've even tried closing and reopening AE.  Any tips? 

There’s a playhead issue in After Effects when using Dynamic Link. In Premiere Pro, the video plays without any problems, but as soon as I return to After Effects and press the spacebar to preview the video, it plays for literally one second and then freezes. The playhead doesn’t move, and the video panel itself becomes laggy. This is visible in the screen recording when I changed the zoom level.Restarting After Effects and clearing the cache helps, but this bug happens very, very often, and every time I have to reopen the program. My PC specs:Windows 11Ryzen 9 9950X3D64 GB RAMRTX 5070 Ti I’m using the latest versions of the software: After Effects 25.6 and Premiere Pro 26.6.3I’ve allocated 300 GB of SSD space for cache and 58 GB of RAM. CUDA acceleration is enabled in Project Settings, and I’m using the latest NVIDIA Studio drivers (591.44). Please help me fix this!

Hi!For some time now, every time I use the "align" function on multiple layers, the order in which they are arranged in the composition is not correct.In the video below, I duplicate "LAYER1", then drag LAYER6 down.By selecting LAYER1 to LAYER6, and then clicking on the vertical alignment option, the layers should be "distributed" in order within my composition. However, this is not the case...Do you know why I'm having this issue, please?

Hello.I have noticed this release of the Creative Cloud is being released in Installments, which is weird on its own, but some of the software is still on the 2025 version, 3 months later.I'm noticing there are betas of app versions well beyond the 26.0 release.After Effects, for example, is already on the 26.1.1 beta.I would like for someone at Adobe to let us know when we can expect the 2026 release for the remaining apps.Cheers.

I am developing a simple script and using emojis like '🏷️ 📸' for button icons.On Windows, these icons appear as colorless outlines (white), and I would like to know if they are rendered with color on macOS. My intention is to have them appear without color. I am wondering if the UI on macOS looks the same as on Windows. I am using the latest versions.

Hi, I was wondering if anyone can help me?  Every time I use Dynamic Link and replace a clip in Premiere Pro with an After Effects Composition for some light effects editing. The clips are added into the After Effects Project Panel, but duplicated rather than keeping it to one clip (the same clip), massively bloating up my After Effects Project Panel. I've attached a screenshot. Consolidating the files only does so much and I personally don't want to be consolidating every single time I do a small effect or edit. Is there a setting that I've left unchecked? An intended feature? Do I not understand video workflow between Premiere Pro and After Effects?  Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,Robbie

Hello!I'm working on my own motion blur tool, and I've hit a snag with what looks like a precision limitation within AE. In short, the plug-in is able to do up to 2048 samples. It even processes that amount. BUT, there is no visual difference from 512 samples and above, like in the attached image. It's a rectangle that flaps up-and-down 30 times a second, which renders identically between 512 and 2048 samples. I'm using "A_Time" to determine the temporal sampling, which should technically give me a microsecond of precision.A_Time time_val; PF_FpLong exact_time = (PF_FpLong)in_data->current_time / in_data->time_scale + sample_offset; const A_long high_scale = 1000000; time_val.value = (A_long)(exact_time * high_scale); time_val.scale = high_scale; And my debugger tells me that the desired amount of sub-frame positions are being calculated and rendered, but it seems that they're either discarded in the final render or snaps to their closest valid values. Is this simply an inherent

I'm getting extremely frustrated with Adobe products and I'm hoping that I can't be the only one. I have a brand new Mac Studio 4M and I thought that would take care of After Effects crashing and completely glitching, but NOPE, here we are. I'm still experiencing the same problems I did on my 2017, and now I just lost hours of work because it froze before I could save anything. When I am running through it, it slows down and the audo and video lag. EXTREMELY annoying.I feel like all I am doing is complaining about Adobe, but man--I thought the new comp was the answer here, and it just appears the products cannot perform properly.

My 12 year old is just starting to use Adobe After Effects. Are there any free plugins he can use as a novice. He has found Sapphire plugin which looks great but we can't afford that at this stage. Any help most apreciated as i don't use AE. Thanks

Hi all,  I am creating a flickering text animation using text animators (opacity). I have the same text repeated 5 times on each line. With the text animator set to random, the flickering is great, however, each line (separate text layer) animates at the same time, how do I make each separate layer flicker different characters to the other layers at any one time?Thanks

I'm a bit of an AE noob, but could not find a good answer on how to accomplish this. I have created it in the video, but using a white circle moving along a path to make it look like the object is being "traced" with that circle. Is there a way to make this work with a layer mask and having that mask object move along this path. So when I export it for use it can be placed on any background?

Hi all,  Pretty new to AE, what I am trying to do is have text move down the page but have its colour change as it passes through an invisible shape (rectangle). Can somebody suggest the best way of doing this?Thanks

Quick question about the GPU API. Does AE force CPU rendering if buffer expansion happens? Done some testing with debugging and it seems like SmartRenderGPU never gets called when expansion happens. Do I have to do something specific or anything, or is it not possible?

I want to animate a rectangle with no fill and at the ends with red dots and where the rectangles intersect so I can add nulls and move the position of the rectangles to create this animation of the concorde visor retracting into the nose. All the parts that interconnect. These form the mechanics of the mechanism visor retract mechanism. I can get the position of white lines using the beam effect in AE as then you can animate the start and end positions of the beam but using rectangles it is hard to work out how to do the same, such I can that parent bars together or set nulls to animate the working mechanism of the visor retract. I have tried merge paths of the line over a rectangle to take the difference as a mask, and that wont work as the line is very narrow (and has no volume) against the filled rectangle. Also the create nulls from path feature but that will obviously create 4 nulls for each corner of the rectangle and I want to only manipulate 2 ends.  How is

I have an active Adobe Creative Cloud subscription, but in my Creative Cloud app I can only see the newer After Effects versions (2024 and later).I am specifically looking for After Effects 23.6 (2023) because of plugin compatibility and project stability. This version is no longer shown under “Other Versions” for me.Is there any official way to download or enable access to this older version, for example through Adobe Support?Thanks in advance for any help!

Je rencontre un problème depuis la dernière mise à jour d’Illustrator. Lorsque j'importe un fichier .ai contenant une défonce, un “trou”, dans After Effects, les paths ne se comportent plus comme prévu. Les deux tracés ne fonctionnent plus ensemble comme la délimitation d'une seule forme avec soustraction, mais apparaissent comme deux contenus superposés. Il est impossible de les animer comme si le second tracé était soustrait du premier.Ce problème n’existait absolument pas il y a quelques mois.
