After Effects

Hey all! I'm building a fancy template thingy again. This time I have rounded text boxes (created using Simple Choker -> Minimax -> Tint -> Roughen Edges) and that works fine. However, the text will be up to three lines long, and this box method only looks good on a single line, since it only adapts to the outline of the whole text block, not per line.So my idea is: I'll have a separate text box for the input (which is invisible in the final output). I'm taking the text content from there, split it up on each manual entered line break and send each bit of text to one of three text layers.Text input:This is someText with threeLayers.Box 1: This is someBox 2: Text with threeBox 3: LayersIf there are only one or two lines, the other boxes won't get any text and stay invisible.I'm a bit rusty in terms of expressions, can anyone help me out?I think one piece of code on the source text of each box should be sufficient, reading the text, splitting by line breaks and putting

HeyI am new to after effects so if you can explain to me what to do. I need to smoother animation for this text expression.How can I do it? I am working on creating a AE template that will pull information from an Excel spreadsheet and place that information in various locations within the comp. One of the cells in Excel will be a comments section and this section can get lengthy at times. So, what I am trying to do is setup a text box that is W:1300pix by H:720pix, and when the texts reaches W:1300pix it will break and start a new line below it and when it reaches the max height of 720pix it will auto scale down so that the paragraph will fit inside the box.  The text box works great with adding the line breaks but as soon as the texts go past the max height it gets cut off. Is there an expression that I can add to the text box or source text that when the paragraph reaches it max height it will auto scale down?

I'm having the reported 'Memory Leak' issue. It occurs when I simply create a Comp from a video clip. If "Cache frames when idle" is enabled for the Comp, the memory usage shoots to 97% in a few seconds, and no other work is possible due to 'Out of Memory' errors.I've tried with several different 1080P clips, H.264, H.265, Apple ProRes, and even an uncompressed AVI exported from AE.Interestingly, when I turn "Cache frames when idle" off during the session, the Memory Leak seems to stop, but AE does not release the RAM that it consumed during the leak, the usage holds at 97% until I restart. Hello i have ran into a bit of a problem, i am trying to create a simple line in after effects with the pen tool but nothing is showing up, the line is basically invisible.. i have checked the fill, stroke and opacity settings and everything's okay, i have no idea what to do and i need this done asap! help is appreciated! 

Hi everyone,I'm trying to figure out how to make an Illustrator layer with content overflowing the artboard visible in After Effects. Unlike Photoshop, it seems content of Illustrator layers outside the workspace(artboard) are excluded when imported into After Effects, even with the "retain layer size" option selected. Unfortunately, this results in a cropped layer upon import.Current workaround: For now, the solution that I come up involves creating a reference layer with a rectangle matching the composition size in After Effects. Then, I manually expand the Illustrator artboard to encompass the entire overflowing layer. While functional, it feels awkward and time-consuming.Seeking a better solution: I'm hoping there's a more efficient and elegant approach to handle this situation. Does anyone have experience or tips on preparing Illustrator files with content exceeding the artboard for seamless import into After Effects?

so I just started using After Effects like last week and I thought it was fine because the layout that I'm seeing is the same as the layout of the AE of many youtubers but when I tried to use the graphs, i tried to move the yellow thing, it only move horizontally, i can't move it diagonally. please help me fix this.

I cant get the Skeleton to even test properly.No new code written , open it up and try to do the Local windows debugging - and even then i get some error - "There were build errors ".This is not even at any scripting level - this is just trying to get the simple basic setup for testing and debugging. When i use the Local Windows Debugging ( macros are fine ), running all as admin, but nothing goes in the plug-ins folder and After Effects opens without the Skeleton plugin. I get an error - C22220 "the following message is treated as an error ".  Getting really ticked off. This is all before even starting to write code and just testing with the Skeleton solution. Any ideas how I can get this mess to work?

Iam trying to create an AI ORB effect in after effects far a project of mine and i came across this footage on reddit which would be perfect and i was wondering if anyone can help me create a version similar to this.

I have a script that should take a template image -500x500, and any image I use to replace it should fit within the 500x500. So if I use a source image that is 900x900, it should scaled it down to fit the template image that is 500x500. How can I determine the templates image size (dimensions), and then use that to determine the the scaling that needs to be done?

It's probably simple, but I just want to make the text flow like it was a rollercoaster. I tried grouping the line and circle in the shape layer, then auto-traced the shape layer which then has two masks. I paste them into the text layer and select one for a path, I get a similar action, but it's going on a path I would like it too... is there an easier way, or some way to modify the mask to go around the way I want. Below marks the path I'd like it to go on, very simple. Cheers! 🙂    

Hello community,I'm encountering a problem with After Effects where I'm unable to minimize the window by clicking on the top bar. Clicking on the top bar doesn't initiate the usual window minimization like everybody do.I'm using After Effects version 24.2 on windows 11. I've checked preferences and attempted various workspace and project resets, but the issue persists.Has anyone else experienced a similar problem or have suggestions on how to resolve this window management issue? Your insights would be greatly appreciated.Thank you for your help! 

Hi Guys, I am new to After Effects and still learning on a course.The problem I have with the file I am working on is as follows:I can select objects but via the layers panel in the timeline. I cannot select an object/graphic from the composition window because when I do so, it is selecting the top layer from the layers panel in the timeline.When I select an object via the layers panel, the resizing handles appear but around the whole composition size. It no longer appears directly around the object. Sizing handles around the entire comp makes it extremely difficult to find the center point of the object I want to animate. As an example I have attached a screenshot which will show you the object I am trying to animate and where the resizing boxes are (off the comp stage). Is there a way I can correct this or am I in trouble here with no solution? Any help is much appreciated!Thanks

However, when I disable the integrated GPU, the dedicated GPU gets detected, but I'm experiencing performance issues. I have a shape selected in the composition panel, but its shape Layer is not highlighted in the Layer panel; such that, when I disable the visibility of every layer/content in the Layers Panel, the shapes are still visible in the composition. 1. Shape Layer of selected shape not highlighted in Layers Panel2. When every layer is hidden, shape is still visible in the Composition Panel. I want to add Trim paths to the shape, but I can't locate it's layer. What do I do? 

So im working on a video where at the end, a cellphone footage is place. Premiere is automatically upscalling the footage where it detects blackspace?  I tried setting to frame, scale to frame, I tried putting it into a new sequence with the footage scaled up and blured in the back. But premiere still detects the black space within that footage if its within frame.    My guess that I could place Artificial Black images and maybe premiere will not scale the footage, but whats the correct way to stop premiere from scaling this footage? 

I have just got a new laptop from work - macbook pro running on Big Sur 11.6. I have installed after effects and I am trying to run ease-copy (a plug-in) on it. I keep recieiving 'Unable to execute script at line 1. null is not an object' as a warning and ease copy is empty. I've tried uninstallung after effects and reinstalling it as well as deleting the script and reintsalling that. The script works on several other computers too - any ideas on how to fix this?

Hi all Two compositions Comp1 and Displase have been created in the applicationComposition Comp1 contains three layers (Blue Solid 1, Magenta-Red Solid 1, Green Solid 1).The Comp1 composition is placed within the Displase composition and the Displacement Map effect is applied to it.The displacement layer is set to the Gradient layer of the Displase composition.As a result of applying the Displacement Map effect, the position of the layers (Blue Solid 1, Magenta-Red Solid 1, Green Solid 1) changes. Is there a way to get the new position of these layers without using the Motion Track utility?     

Hi! I'm trying to insert a special Ö character from my open type font into After Effects. I am aware that After Effects does not have any built in open type features but I'm trying to copy a character from InDesign/Illustrator/Photoshop to paste into After Effects but no luck.  Is this not possible?!
