Playing with the new Beta and loving the capability to import 3D models in a scene, the problem I am having is the 3D object is too sharp, I need to have the object blurred to mimic the depth of field of the shot.  As it is now, it sticks out like a sore thumb, way too sharp... Thoughts?

Hi, it seems I can not export and render anything from After Effects to Media Encoder anymore.  I get an error:After Effects: AEGP Plugin AEDynamicLinkServer: Adobe Media Encoder is not installed. Please download and install it to use this feature. Go to....This is strange because it has worked before.I've updatedAdobe software, both AfterEffects and Media Encoder.I've uninstalled and reinstalled both... Is there anyone who could help me out here? 

Rotate in AE has stopped working. Position, scale, opatcity - everything else is working. I tried clearing cache, updating to the latest version of AE - nothing. How can sucha simple command, which has been int he programs since day one - cease to function? What did the Adobe programmers DO NOW??

I have drone shots that the client would like to overlay a simulated Lidar look. I'm not sure where to even start. Maybe a "Find Edges" type filter? Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks.

I am sorry if I am asking a silly question but I am attempting to get better by following some guides and tutorials. One thing that has been confusing me for quite a bit is there is a certain source that I cannot apply a track matte to. I will explain everything that I am doing as thoroughly as I can.I am busy creating a 3d wall that is currently only made up of 2 sources.The first source is made up of many rectangles that fade in at random times until they are fully white. I did this by making a line of rectangles that do this first, then expanded it vertically, and then expanded it further to fill the whole composition.The second source only has text in it.The problem is that I want to apply a track matte to the first source but there is no drop-down menu.I am following a guide that I found here: http://ae.tutsplus.com/tutorials/motion-graphics/lear-to-make-a-custom-3d-wall-text-reveal/ and the step I am having problems with is step 48.I am using after effects cs6 on windows 7 (64bit

I am looking for the easiest solution to simply swap in a single video clip (but each have different lengths ) in between some  in and out animated motion. I see that it will take a lot of time to move  keyframes and or selecting each layer individually. Please suggest solutions.  

Hello all, I am using AE 15.1.1 on a Mac running OS High Sierra 10.13.5.For some reason when I attempt to open my preferences in any project, I get the spinning wheel of death. If I wait long enough (5-7 minutes or so) it will open up.  Then, when I go to empty my cache it brings up the spinning wheel for about 10 minutes before finally emptying (at the usual rate).  After effects otherwise runs perfectly.  Any ideas why it's doing this?

I cannot get Adobe After Effects and Maxon Cinema 4D Lite to work together. I’ve successfully used them together in previous versions. Here is a summary: I am running Adobe After Effects Build 23.2.1 on Mac OSX Monterey 12.6.3When I open After Effects and the “AEGP Plugin Cineware - General Error (5027::12)” message is displayed. I click OK and After Effects finishes loading. (see screenshot 1)I have verified that my Cinema 4D Lite license is valid and activated.I have verified that After Effects is pointed to the Cinema 4D 2023 app. (screenshot 2)I can launch Cinema 4D Lite (C4DL) from After Effects. C4DL functions as expected, (except for importing Adobe Illustrator files, but that’s another issue.)I can save work in C4DL as .c4d files. This will load back into After Effects. Please help me!!! This should be a simple fix but I can't find any info online. I designed an 11 minute animation that will be shown on a 14ft x 8ft screen. I made my composition settings 16128px x 9216px after doing the math to get the aspect ratio correct. The frame rate is 24fps if that matters. When I go to render the file, it's HUGE. Like, over 100GB. What render settings should I use so that I'm able to have the video not be blurry when shown on the giant screen but not have a massive file size?  Here are the render settings at QuickTime with Apple Prores 422I tried again with QuickTime and Apple Prores 422 LT, hoping it would be smaller, but it's still so large.Thanks in advance!!

When I save my After Effects Project File, it saves as an Internet Explorer Shortcut and not an After Effects project file. I can only open/edit the project file content If I open it in After Effects, however, it opens an Internet Explorer site if I double-click on the file normally. Any fixes to this issue?

I realise this has been asked before but I'm hopeful now that some years have passed this may have become easier to do. I have a 2D top-down plan of a land subdivision that I need to overlay onto drone footage.The big problems are as follows:Land perimeter is very complex — not square.Land has lots of undulation/fall-off — not flat. I've played around with Boris FX Mocha but that gets very confused by the shape of the land even when the footage has been cut into shorter sequences. To be honest I'm struggling to get the static plan to sit correctly on the footage without any movement.Is there something I'm overlooking or is this strictly a job for visual effects pros?   

I've use JSON.parse() and JSON.stringify() numerous times. For some very odd reason, whenever I try to use JSON now, an error is thrown saying that JSON is undefined.This is a toy example to showcase how strange this is:var jstr = JSON.stringify({obj:12}); // JSON is undefined error herevar obj = JSON.parse(jstr);alert(obj);In AE Scripting guide, it says that it uses  ECMA-262  specification, which includes support for JSON. Has anyone else experience this bizarreness? Is there a fix or should I just bring in my own JSON functions?

I have a person on green screen comped on a virtual stage. I want to make a duplicate of the person and use that layer to cast a shadow onto the floor using a 3D spot. I can get the shadow but I need to hide the duplicate "person" that I'm using to cast the shadow since I rotated it in 3D. I see in older versions of AE you could select "cast shadow only", which would hide the layer source, similar to adding a drop shadow on text and selecting "drop shadow only"...but in current versions that option is no longer there. How now to create a cast shadow from an object that you don't want to see? Thanks!

I'm not sure if this is a bug or user error. I've been using AE for many years and I used to be able to put an adjustment layer between two 3D layers and it would seperate them "visually" in space. This is a trick everyone knows how to do, but it doesn't seem to work for me anymore. Is anyone having the same issue?

I do not want Maxon 4D installing as I use other 3d software. Each time Creative Cloud updates After Effects, it installs Maxon 4d... I have to uninstall manually.... WHY ... I dont want or need this software

Hi, I am working on a MOGRT template where i am displaying two videos alongside each other, like a split screen.The first window starts playing the video right away, as the other window stays paused. Then after a few seconds, the first window pauses the video and the second video starts playing.  I have made the second video keep paused until the first one is playing, but i am unable to figure out a way to pause the first comp video when the second video starts playing. I am attaching a screenshot of my project. I would be very thankful if someone could help me with any technique/expression.Thanks

Hi,I have a composition with multiple layers, each with a different duration. I would like to render these layers as separate files, each with its duration, not the composition duration. How can I achieve it? I tried rd_RenderLayers, but it renders each layer with the composition duration. Please see screenshot attached

I have been trying to create a header with some effect on them to make a template from AE to use in Pr. (mograt format)What is the best way to mix the font weight within one sentence using the essential graphic palette?The problem is that when I change one word, the whole sentence changes to bold in adobe premiere pro?I have tried to create 2 text layers in one mograt, but this is less than ideal. Let me start by saying I am really new to AE, and probably know just enough to be dangerous. I have followed many tutorials to build a projection map on to my house. The process.... I sat outside with my laptop connected to the projector where it is permanantly mounted and then drew all of the elements on my house (shutters, windows, columns, etc.) Then in After effects I animate whatever I want across that whole view since it is a sincle projector. You can get an idea of the results here:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NXTqkQejFQw&list=PLGnWjg0ynQrXEoRhiZ4yTHPdYVYkZwLoN&index=9 You can see in some cases it is not as bright/crisp as I'd like. Some of that is light pollution from the other lights, but much of it is how far away I have to be to use a single projector. My initial plan was over time bigger/better projector, but I've been experimenting with some of the lower cost smaller projectors and for some parts of the house I think they would do quite nice. All the tutorials I see involve selecting items through the library panel. What if I find a clip in a browser window, download a preview and add to my project? Not that it usually works, but within Premier you can license music previews from the app rather than having to download and replace files. Is there a way to license Adobe Stock preview clips without leaving After Effects?
