After Effects

Looking for ANY testimonials or suggestions for best video card for AE. I am looking to get a new laptop and wanna spec it out so the graphics card, processor(s), memory, RAM, SSD & whatever other specs are needed.  If more info is needed, I am a daily-casual user and want to expand my AE skills and not be limited by a slow PC/Video card. 

Hello, I have a problem with my after effect, every time I tried to work on it, it only works for the first 2 minutes and then the preview freezes, everything else works, I've tried several hints from the internet but nothing works, could anyone give me some advice please? 

Hello everyone!I'm stuck whit what I think is a newbie problem and I would appreciate any input on how to solve it.The thing is that I have a keyframed animated linear wipe on several rectangles that are mirrored so they act as a "curtain" and reveal the video underneath when they open from the center. I have keyframed the In & Out animations. The problem is that I can't find a way to add a wiggle effect on the linear wipe that works only in the span of time when the curtains are open.All info I can find is related to keyframe the wiggle effect with the slider control. Is there a way to add a wiggle to an already keyframed linear wipe?Thanks!

After Effects was working and very smooth for me. I have 32 gigs of ram. One day out of no where is started being EXTREMELY slow. 500 ms now, 0 ms then. This doesn't make ANY sense.

So I put a time icon in my song so it can have a little more visual appearance. Just one issue...It's a few seconds ahead of how long the song actually is. I’ve created a Pseudo Effect that has multiple slider controls, amongst other things. I need the slider controls to have default expressions already applied to the Slider whenever the Effect is applied.I am able to apply default values, but is there a way to apply expressions in the same way? Can someone tell me why my After Effect Preview stops workong every time when I put some heavy/hard effects on my timeline? I have my laptop system here shown too. I think that I have a good MSI Laptop that should render out my effects easily. 😕😕 Please help Me.

So I've been racking my brain trying to solve this problem for awhile first by checking other community posts, but it seems to have been to no avail. I am trying to use the 3D camera to apply some basic floating text effects without the hassle of keyframing (that's a big part of what it's for, right?). But for some reason, every time I try to apply it, it gives me this at around frame 10-16 of analyzing, usually frame 16.Some info for my setup and program settings:- Binned M3 Max 14 inch MacBook Pro w/ 36gb of RAM running MacOS Sonoma 14.4.1- 4000x3000 25fps GoPro Hero Black 11 Footage (mp4)- Comp Settings match pixel size and FPS of the footage- After Effects Version 24.3 So far I have tried the following, naturally to no effect: - Restarting my Mac and trying again- Starting After Effects in Safe Mode- Changing the 3D Renderer to Advanced 3D- Copying ALL of the files from my working drive and directly onto the computer's hard drive and opening the project file that way.- Re

I can not get my layer to show in the layer panel of my composition in after effects, therefore I can not use the clone stamp tool. Anyone know why the layer does not show up? The layer is visible, and is active.

Generative fill extreemly slow. Like taking upwards of 5 minutes to generate 1 frame. 1 was 4kslog3 footage the other was 4k hlg footage from two different devices so format isnt the problem. I normally shoot/edit 4k footage and thats buttery smooth I have no problems. What seems to be the issue?

Can you get a camera position from the perspective of a still image in After Effects? I know you can track the camera motion in video clips , but it doesn't work for images or footage shot on a tripod (where there are no camera movements). I know that one could use the corner pin effect and pin whatever you like on a wall for instance according to the perspective. That is not what I'm after here. I want to get a camera position or a 3D plane from the perspective of the still image/video. Do anyone know how to achieve that? Thanks

AE is too complicated for my liking, and I rarely have to use it anyway. But I need to make use of it now, and some questions have popped up. Ques 1In general, do effects applied to clips/nests in Premiere, travel with those clips to AE when replaced with an AE Composition? Or in all cases, is it just the clips that arrives in AE? Ques 2If I have interpreted clips in Premiere as Upper Field First, will that information travel to AE? Ques 3What about "De-interlace" when applied to clips in a Premiere timeline? Does that info come through?

After converting the .r3d material using the OCIO display conversion effect in the OCIO environment, I could not restore it even if I applied the same inverse conversion effect. The dark parts are a little different. This symptom has been confirmed in 2024 and 2023. Am I doing it wrong?MacOS 13.6.6

Hello, I've cut out a moving person from a video using the roto brush tool and added a new backgroud. In the preview, everything looks like it shoud. But as soon as I start the rendering, the cut out person disappears and only the background is displayed. Also, the rendered video only contains the background. Is there any beginner mistake that I made?Thanks & CheersPaul

I've created an illustration in Illustrator which I would like to animate in After Effects later. To create less of a 2d illustration, I've added some shadows and structures using the draw inside mode. As the structures I want to use are pixel based, I've created graphic symbols to keep the file size low. Then I created a clipping mask to be able to change the color of the structures.Everything worked perfectly fine but now when I tried to import the file as a composition in After Effects the structures don't appear at all or are being imported with less intensive colors.Does anyone know what's the problem or what I could try to solve this?Thank you for your response!

I have a 500 fps shooting and i want to edit in 25 fps, but when i drop the footage ae doesnt ask me to "change to match comp settings" and it slows the footage, how do i enable that again???

Hi there, I'm wondering if anyone has an expression that returns the realtime coordinates of a null that is parented to a rotating precomp. The issue I'm having is that because the null is parented to the precomp, the position and anchor point of the null don't technically change, even though it is rotating based on the rotation of the precomp. Let me know if you need more info. Thanks!Matt

Hello,At our studio, we have updates our computers from Adobe 2019 to Adobe 2022.We are dealing with major performance issue with After Effects 2022. (2022.2 & 2022.2.1)Here is a list of our complain:1. Opening After Effects : Very slow to open. about 25 to 30 secondes every time (With blank windows freezing and hanging like 10-15 seconds). 2. Closing After Effects : The software take very very long time to close. Even when there is no project load. It take time from 10sec to a whole minute to complety close after click on the closing cross. What is it doing that whole time ?3. Not responding UI : When we switch the view from an other software (Like Chrome, Firefox, Photoshop, ...) to get back on After Effects, the UI is very laggy the first 4-6 secondes. Making click, selection, timeline scrubing not smooth at all.4. I wasn't sure where to post this as this is just happening generally across most Adobe software, it's particularly bad in After Effects though. Every time I go to name a file it won't let me, it keeps highlighting a word and kind of greying it out (not sure how else to explain this), to the point where I can't click in the search bar to rename the file at all. It feels like there's a lot of bugs with Adobe right now along with the dynamic linking also not working. These things are really slowing down my work process, making me late for deadlines and making me reconsider paying so much for this software. I appreciate that many have told me the dynamic linking bug is being sorted out but it's been going on for such a long time now and the work arounds become so complex.
