After Effects

I want get my .aep file frame range and comp name in background.I wannna render it in windows cmd,I need the comp name from render queue,is there a way to get it whitout open .aep file 

I have the graphic I'm working on where the letters slide up, but I want to have the bar I put below the letters to expand out from the center. I googled and googled and googled for tutorials, but haven't been able to find what I'm looking for. I just want it to expand out from the center to the left and right. I tried thinking of whether I could do a mask reveal from side to side, but I don't know how I would execute that. 

A day ago I was working on a project in After Effects and I closed the project because I went to install a new font. When I tried opening the project again the "not responding" sign would come up and  not let me do any sort of changes to the project. I have also noticed that I can not go back in previous project because the same problem has occurred again. I came up to the conclusion of scrapping the old project and starting fresh but within 2 minutes of not even adding anything to my project the problem happened again and just stopped responding. I've tried restarting my computer if that would help at all but it didn't. I've heard of re installing your AE but I wasn't sure if it would take away my projects or not so i'm a little worried to try.

Hello, I am very scrupulous. I am learning animation and then I see this. I have attached. why the position of the shape layer  becomes zero after I make the null parent. what is exactly happening here?  The shape layer is exactly where it it. I copy paste its position to null's position. but why it (shape layer's positon)  needs to be zero? please someone tell me, otherwise I can not sleep 😞 . Thank you. 

Hello everyone, I am new to AE (and the CC environment in general as I edit in DaVinci) and have been messing around with the 3D Tracker Camera. One thing that I have noticed is that for my projects, which have a lot of transitions and jump cuts, I have to split each segement off into its own layer for the tracking to function, otherwise it just says "Analysis Solve Failed" because it's trying to track the whole project. This is fine, what isn't fine is that I only seem to be able to do this with one of the segments I've created. No matter what I do, it won't track for more than one segment/layer at a time. If I remove the tracking in the first clip, it will track properly on the second, but then I can't track the first again unless I remove the tracking effect from the second. Unlike what happens when I try to track the whole thing, in these cases the tracking appears to think it's worked as it doesn't throw up an error, but it won't actually create any tracking points (no m

Hi, I'm having difficulty using Red Giant's Supercomp plugin with After Effects on my MBP. I'm getting the following message and it won't launch: 'Unable to execute script at line 1. After Effects error: Unable to call "applyPreset" because of parameter 1. Path is not valid. Path: "/Volumes/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Common/Plug-ins/7.0/MediaCore/Red Giant VFX/Supercomp_AE.plugin/Contents/Resources/SupercompEM.ffx*  I have confirmed that SupercompEM.ffx exists and the path is correct.I've tried the following to address this issue:Clean installation of Adobe software, including After Effects.Launching After Effects with all plugins and scripts except Supercomp disabled.Checked permissions and access on my Mac.Attempted using older versions of the software.Uncheking "Enable Home Screen"  Interestingly, I have transferred the settings from this MBP to a Mac mini, and Supercomp launches without any issues on the Mac mini.The conditions should be the sam

I don't know why but the timeline started to repeat itself over and over. I was trying to decrease the lag and followed some tutorials on youtube where I changed some things in the preferences and display. Now when I press space the video I have plays for a couple seconds and restarts even if I move the Current Time Indicator to a different place in the video. The customer support is out on the weekend so if anyone has any info on this I would be extremely grateful. Thank you in advance!

Hi everyone! few weeks ago i used after effect for my animation project (AE ver 22.x) . when i checked "activity monitor" in my macbook m1 pro (1tb, 16gb), it was about 30-40gb in swap memory line and my performance was good and smooth preview.but recently when i use AE (ver 23.6) for this project, the swap memory just take about 2gb. So when i preview in timeline, i just can see about 2-3 seconds smoothly ( after caching) and repeat again.after that i try download the older version in CC ( ver 22) and my problem still there.I dont know it happened by Mac OS system changed or AE preference?plz help me. =>> may be i will downgrade to macos moterey and hope it'll be fixps: my "real" RAM always full

Hi all, I was working on a simple motion graphics project and suddenly my preview doesn't want to play anymore. Whenever I press space or click the play button the preview window goes to black for a split second and then goes back to the frame the time indicator is on.I can scrub throught the comp with the time indicator no problem. but playing it back just does not work.I already cleared the cache several times, deleted AE and installed the latest AE version (24.0) My system specs are:RTX 2070 Super (Latest Nvidia studio drivers: 537.58)Ryzen 9 5900x32 GB DDR 4 ram I'm not sure if there are any other specs relevant for this problem. I'd appreciate all the help, because I'm at a loss right now.

Why can't I find the 'Pop' effect? Has it been removed or am I unable to see it? 

Apple M2 Ultra, 64 GB, Mac OS Ventura 13.6Install through CC app to local HDInstalled After Effects twice now, letting the add-on Cinema 4D install. Hello together, i have currently the issue, that the Cinema 4D Exporter in After Effects is not working for me. I just tracked my Footage and created a Camera and a Solid. This i wanted to Export via the Cinema 4D Exporter, but when i clicked on it, nothing happens. I tried in Native Apple Silicon Mode, aswell as with Rosetta. I attached a Screenrecording, of the issue. I'm running AE 22.4 on M1 Macbook Pro (macOS Monterey 12.4)  Thanks in advance. Best regards,Marc

Windows 11 64GB Has anyone else lost the shortcuts to creat/jump to numeric markers on the timeline?I also found the F9 easy ease shortcut disabled even though it is listed as active in the shortcut window. There are probably more but I went back to an older version as this was killing my workflow...  

Hello,I just updated my AE to version 24.0 on Windows 11. The app works fine for the first few minutes, but then whenever I open the menu (Layers for example), the app freezes for a while, sometimes even crashes. I just started a new project, so I believe the workplace is not heavy yet. Anyone with similar problem?

Hello, I am learning espressions. So The tutorial am following explains that which I understand, But what I dnt understand is what is the use of it? position I can manipulate applying keyframes, but manipulating a fixed position using another effect is so weird., why would I do that when X,Y allows me to move the shape/text... I googled to udnerstand but all of them just explained what it is, but none of them say where, in what scenario/case I can apply it on. Can anyone give me some expamples? like where I can apply it? I always practice when I learn something. But in this case I cant practice it because I dnt understand where I can apply this on. thank you.

HelloIn the film there is a two minute section where the woman is bending down that shows the bald area. Is there a method to fill in the area so that subject appears less then suffering from hair loss? In Photoshop I could use the clone tool.  Don't know the method in Premiere Pro CS6. Let me know the method where I could add texture to that bald area to improve the visuals of the film.Thank!

Hi, I have been struggling with this After Effects for 2 days now and badly need to fix this.When I try to preview what I am working on in my composition by pressing my space bar and clicking on the play button, I get this pop up message: "Cached Preview needs 2 or more frames to playback". When I click OK, I usually get the following pop-up: "Fresh layer cache check-out failed".I cannot seem to get more than one frame in green or blue (cached). I have already tried Purging the memory, cleaning the database & cache and emptying my disk cache. I have also tried working on my other after effects files ( which all worked fine a few days ago) and they all have trouble previewing. I also tried working on earlier versions of After Effects and that either did not change my situation or could not open my files (not compatible versions, which is confusing to me because I have switched versions in the past when having a problem in AE and never had files not open because of version compatibil

I just found out when importing an MOV/Prores or MOV/h264 Files into After Effects 22.2.0 it gets a slight hue shift. I compared it with an exported EXR, also mp4/h264 files which I exported out of Davinci Resolve with the same Settings. In After Effects I do no color interpretation and also Preserve RGB values.I also compared the files in Nuke. There is no difference noticable. So it's definitly a problem how After effects loads MOV Files.Does anyone has the same problem?Would be really helpful if someone is experience the same problem.  

Hello there,What I am doing is animating my text to create a smooth intro, and in one of the sentances it fades in and I would like for one word in that sentance to have a gradient on it. Except I just cannot figure it out for the life of me. I have tried a few things and some suggestions from other posts on here, for instance creating a mask or shape layer, but then when I do those not only is the animation that I have on the text messed up, but I can't add a stroke around the text either. I am unsure if this makes sense but I will include some images as well to help anyone who wants to help gather a better understanding. As you can see, I would like my text to have that -50% off sign in a green gradient, exactly like how someone else managed to do it in the example image I attatched, except theirs is red. Best Regards.
