After Effects

I'm on Windows, using a UHD 4K monitor and running 175% display scaling.After Effects scales the UI correctly, but the performance of the Timeline panel especially is atrocious. Merely trying to scrub the timeline is very laggy. There are also visual glitches, like vertical black lines, and the playhead not redrawing correctly when using J & K to move between keyframes (the playhead gets disconnected from the line in a redraw glitch). Even doing a RAM preview on a fully cached timeline causes frame drops.If I use the Windows high DPI settings dialog to override the scaling behavior (set scaling to be performed by System), all these performance and glitch issues go away. Scrubbing the timeline and resizing panels is smooth, and no visual glitches appear. Does anyone know a Mac program that will convert older .mov files and preserve the alpha? I cannot import them into AE since they are no longer supported. I've downloaded a few free trials, and when I convert to ProRes 4444, I lose the alpha and gain a black background. Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks,Denise

Hello! How can I create an expression for checkbox Control to "Fill" effect in a PNG logo? I would like that when the checkbox is marked, the logo takes on the solid color filling, and when disabled keep the original colors of the logo. Can anyone help me with this issue? Thanks!

I’m trying to automate a trapezoid shape, that can be resized along the x or y axis (preferably with slider controls), but maintains four set angles. For instance, 90°, 90°, 100°, 80°. See attached image as an example: 

Since upgrading from windows 10 to 11 I have had this issue where After effects crash on startup once Bridge is installed.The only way to get it to working normal is to rename/delete Microsoft.AI.MachineLearning.dll from the plug-ins folder. Both programme will open and operate as expected but I lose all AI features in Bridge including masking which is a big part of my workflow.Has anyone solved this issue without deleting important .dll files?

I have had this before in earlier AE versions, but it's back, or still here. About one third of my keystrokes are not registering. It's not the keyboard, all other apps work fine. Just typing to rename a layer will ignore some of the letters, copy-past via keyboard is totally unpredictable because a lot of the times the copy or paste keystrokes are not registered. Changing tools, entering numbers, anything that uses the keyboard is becoming unpredictable because a lot of the keystrokes are just ignored. Sometimes I have to press a key several times (like 4 or 5 times) before it’s registered. Also there sometimes is a lag before a keystroke is registered, which is extra super annoying, having to press 5 times, and ending up with 2 times the keystroke with a delay.This is becoming unworkable, I fear my keyboard will not survive my frustration…I’m using a Mac Studio Ultra with 128GB RAM, macOS 12.6.2, AE 23.1It wasn’t doing this before, nothing was changed or updated in my setup.Only thin

I am trying to download After Effects 2026 onto my new laptop. It’s a high-end HP Omen and is equipped with all of the requirements. I have been looking at my creative cloud to see if its available to me to install but it hasn’t been there. I need to get it installed so I can see if a bug I have had problems with is gone. I have an adobe account through my school, so I don’t know if that has something to do with it or not. 

Hi all,I’m asking for some help about a project, for which I have a scene sitting on a couch, and on the coffee table in front of me, I’d like to place small demogorgons (from the Stranger Things show).I haven’t tried the environment light, the use of HDRI for lighting/shadows, and the direct import of 3D models, since all this became possible in AE. I’ve done this in Blender a few times and by no means am I an expert. So I got a free model of the creatures with different animation type hardcoded and I chose the ones I like. I found an HDRI that mimics the warm, orange colors I need for lighting and used it via the environment light. I also used a 3d solid , aligned with the table’s perspective and used it as a shadow catcher.The result for the shadows wasn’t good, though. No matter how I change the environment light’s rotations, I can’t get proper shadows from the proper angle. Even worse, they appear somewhat distorted with missing pixels and some jitteriness. Hi everyone, I have been having this issue with after effects that has confused my professors and I. I will be editing on the app and eventually the preview panel will freeze. Not only on the frame but when I try to start the preview it will go forward a frame and stop. Even when I switch to a different composition it will only show that frame and nothing else. When I do try to edit anyways I can’t see the edits I am making but when I come back to the project they are still there. On top of this I tried starting a completely new project without restarting after effects and even though the composition is blank it still shows the frame from my previous project. I purged my cache, restarted after effects and my computer, reset preferences, and tried uninstalling and reinstalling the current version along with the one directly prior, I also have tried changing my drivers and that hasn’t worked. My professors have never seen anything like this. The app doesn’t crash but literally just freez

I have brought a new laptop, new MSI Stealth A16 - 5090 RTX, AMD Ryzen 9hx. For some reason when using after effects for just a minuet, the compositon will free, cant zoom, nothing updates. but the app contiunes working, I can add layers, add effects, delete, import.. but the compsiton freezes and I can see the zoom going up and down but nothing in the viewport changes, add new solid, nothing changes in the viewport.  After effects 2025 25.3.2Windows I have tried all the recommendations:Clearing cacheram allocation disable gpu accelerationupdating driversvideo rending and effects multiframe rendering off Its a brand new laptop, any ideas? 

When setting Loop to a value greater than 2 under Interpret Footage > Other Options, it appears that the cache does not behave correctly from the second loop onward.If I duplicate the same footage as multiple layers in a composition and place them sequentially, the timeline clearly shows that the second and subsequent layers are cached as expected.However, when using the Loop option, the footage seems to be treated as one very long single clip, and it appears that playback triggers reloading even in the second and subsequent loops.This feature is very useful for cases such as overlay textures, so I would like the cache to work correctly when looping footage via Interpret Footage.Duplicate layersLoop 100 

After installing AE 2026. The application opens but then freezes. ALL UI panels present has white and the dark mode gradually appears. When any click is attempted the application freezes. Requiring a re-boot to clear. I’m running a Yoga 9i Pro with an RTX 4070 Laptop GPU. Hoje eu estava editando um video no After Effects, e aconteceu o seguinte erro: "Aviso do After Effects: formato incorreto ou ilegível", isso se deu depois que eu reiniciei o computador para a atualização do Windows Update, após esse erro, tentei restaurar o computador para um horário antes da atualização! Assim fiz, e o problema ainda persistiu, não sei mais o que fazer, já olhei diversos videos no youtube e não tem nenhuma solução para esse tipo de problema, alguém poderia comentar a respeito, se tem como recuperar o arquivo ou eu posso abandonar?!

After effect version 25.4.0 After importing a sequence of exr images that were used as a black and white mask for rotoscoping, the silhouette was offset or cut off completely. After refreshing the composition and sequence, these offsets randomly appear in other places. I checked in the program "nuke" and there was no problem with these exr.

Hello community! I recently updated to AE26 and now when I paste text from illustrator, the formatting gets lost. Did anyone experience this? Please, is there a workaround in order to keep the text formatting, specially OpenType options??
