While importing PSD files (that contains multiple layers) from the extension panel in 'After effects' using  app.project.importFile will not provide any option to import individual layers, it always imports as merged psd.We want to provide user option to select any of the layers in the psd file during import.In premiere pro extension panel,if we import the same psd file, using the following code, will give us the option to choose the layers. app.project.importFiles 

Hi, I´ve been working with after effects for quite some time and i have never had an issue like this. It started like a week ago, i tried to play a preview and the timeline wouldn't play and the preview panel stayed in the same frame, after this happens i can pause the preview, i can move the timeline slider but the preview will stay the same no matter what, even if i change composition or create a new comp viewer, the preview will froze and the timeline won't update when i hit play. I still can select everything, move around the software and even add effects or footage to the project but like i said it won't play, then i would save and after i try to close the app it will froze and i'll have to End Process through the Windows Task Manager. If i reopen the project it will happen again, the only workaround i found by myself is to open a new project, create a new comp and then open the project i'm working on to get the preview panel to start working correctly but this only lasts lik

So long stupid story short, I installed AE before I was ready to learn how to use it and didn't realize that the Maxon Cinema 4D files that popped up in the launcher (I'm on a MacBook Pro) were associated with the AE install.I deleted them.  (And no, they're not in my trash for easy restoration like I'm having trouble getting Adobe tech support to understand.)Realizing the error of my ways once I was ready to sit down and learn AE, I uninstalled the program, rebooted and downloaded a fresh install of AE from the Creative Cloud.  It hasn't restored any of the Maxon software now.  What is the next step to fixing my mistake?  I would have assumed a fresh uninstall/reinstall would have addressed the issue, but I'm missing something here.  Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. 

Hello, I have 32GB Ram, and have assigned the page file memory to one of my SSDrives.   (Win10) When using After Effects, coloring and upscale, will it eat up all the Ram and rely on the page file system for more? What is a good setting for the page file memory?   Should it double the ram amount?  In my case, 64GB of page file memory allocated? Page File section reads:Mininmum Allowed           16 MBRecommended                4984 MBCurrently allocated:      64000 MBI have a feeling 65gb of virual memory is a waste?  I read to double your ram's size, but 64gb might be pushing it? Thanks for your thoughts,Letty

I can't figure out how to remove the glitching. It appears on both the image layer (top) and the solid color layer behind it, but only when it is facing the front, the back side is fine. The ony layer the glitching does not affect is the bottom solid color layer (the ribs of the coin). Does anyone know why it is doing this, and how to fix it? Thanks in advance.

I'm trying to export some footage I took with my a7s iii from After Effects into AME (same thing happens when I render internally in AE, though). In the screenshot below, I have AE and AME pulled up side by side with the previews showing. You can see the left screenshot looks like it has more dynamic range than the right screenshot. Well, turns out, AME is forcing the color space into Rec709, and the option to change it is grayed out (second screenshot). The working color space in AE is set to "none." Any tips to changing the AME color space so that it matches what I have in AE and I get my colors looking the way I want? I can provide more info if needed.

Hi all, working on a red reveal style video (red lens glasses reveal cyan objects) and as you can see in the image, the effect works in After Effects (top) but on export (bottom) the pure red has been desaturated which is making the reveal not function properly. Don't know a ton about color spaces or color management so would really appreciate any ideas!

I have watched several tutorials about using the Refine Edge Tool and they all make it look so easy, but almost everytime I try and use it on hair, it chatters from frame to frame no matter what settings I use. The most success I have had is when the person's hair is against a white wall. Any ideas about what I might be missing?

I just got After Effects CC with the free trial. It works mostly fine, but the camera won't move, even though I put and altered keyframes on the position, point of interest, and orientation. I have the view set to Active Camera. When I tried setting the view to front, the frame showed that the camera was moving and rotating, and the transformation settings say that it is too, but the Active Camera view says otherwise. Anyone know why?

Hi guys,  I've been having this issue for around a week now and I haven't been able to find a solution. Basically my After Effects preview is black but only when I use AE on my laptop, if I drag the application over to my second screen the preview plays. I've tried everything in this thread - Solved: My After Effects preview is all black. - Adobe Product Community - 8307052 checked the eye icon is on, toggled all the preferences it suggests (Mercury Transmit, pruged the cache etc etc), uninstalled and reinstalled AE, updated my driver but still the problem persists. I use Windows 11 with NVIDIA GEFORCE studio driver. The fact I can see the preview on my second screen leads me to believe it's something to do with my laptop? Any ideas would be greatly appriciated. Thanks Ollie

hi, i have been using after effects for a while now and ive recently stumbled on the issue that my time reamp graph is appearing as a straight line. ( i have made sure im on the value graph, made sure my keyframes are easy eased, and i have tried holding alt and scroll up in order to make my graph bigger but to no succesion.) If anyone can help witht his issue it would really help. Thanks

The waveform animation seems to just slide across the screen rather than moving when words are said. I don't have any position keyframes on the solid layer so that's not the issue. It just doesn't have an appropriate flat line when silent or peaks when words are being said. I've already tried removing as much background noise from the audio as well. I'm using a wav file. Can anyone help? I've added my settings. Thanks

This sounds like I'm missing something obvious, but as I'm not all that tech-savvy I'll post my question and (maybe) let you have a good laugh. I've just purchased a 1 TB LaCie SSD external drive, as I want to use that to make my AE work smoother. My AE keeps crashing (crashed 23 times over last weekend) I'm guessing because I'm running out of memory using my iMac hard drive. In the AE Preferences - Media & Disc Cache, I've now chosen a folder on my SSD for Enable Disc Cache and Conformed Media Cache and pressed OK. All looks fine.However, when I start to edit all cache goes straight to my old cache folders on my iMac, despite those not being a chosen option anymore. Nothing goes into my SSD disc folders, and my crashing problem remains. What am I missing?

Hello, I use time remape with loopOut().But always I find that the last keyframe is at unactive time(frame), and that leaves an extra frame that is black at the end of the looping.So I was wondering why aftere effects devs still leaves it, I don't see any reason for creating the last keyframe at exactly the end of the comp, even though the end won't show any frames.I hope this change in the next after effects version.what changes basicly?when activating the time remaping at any layer, the last keyframe is on the real last frame, and no any extra frames when using loopOut().Thank you for reading! 

After some problems with mogrt in premiere pro, I create a very simple mogrt for testing purpose :- 10 s long- protected regions at start (from 0 to 1s) and end (from 9 to 10s)- a text box with text.source script : Time- another text box with text.source script : thisComp.durationI create the mogrt and import it in premiere pro (2025)I extend the mogrt to 20 sFor the first second, everything is fine for the first text box, the time is correct. But the second text box show "10" and not "20"After the first second, the time is incorrect, it is stretched. I have created some mogrt with lots of scripted animations (in general, an intro, then continous animation and an outro). The animation speed is ok in the intro and outro but slower or faster in the middle. I hope I could modify my code to adapt, but as duration doesn't adapt if stretched, it's impossible for the mogrt to know the duration in premiere pro. Is someone know how to fix that ?

Hi,  I am trying to change the thumbnail of my MOGRT files to an image that is not present in the graphic itself. This is so when looking at the essentials graphics panel in Premiere, the graphics are categorised. I have tried adding the image, using set poster time then hiding the image before exporting. However it seems the poster time image must be present in the graphic when exporting. I have tried to set the image outside of the graphic timeline e.g -00.00.01 but this also does not work. I have read about extracting the thumb.png and changing this but can't figure out how to then put the extracted files back into a MOGRT file. please help!! Using After Effects 17.5.1 right now, and noticed that there is a new "feature" that turns Alt+Mouse Scroll Wheel into a camera dolly tool when your timeline has a 3D Layer. Normally when you use Alt+Scroll on the Composition Panel, you zoom into the cursor position on your composition. I use this all the time while I'm working because it takes so much less time than using only your scroll wheel or the zooming keyboard shortcuts "," "."and then finding your Comp POI with the Hand Tool. With this new version of After Effects, this functionality is lost once you add a 3D layer. I never have needed/wanted to use the camera dolly tool in this way. Is there a way to turn this off?

This seems like a fairly obvious and simple question, but I can't find the answer anywhere. I'm relatively new to AE--I come from the audio world in which it is possible to trim an audio clip right down to the teensiest waveform--in literally any DAW that exists. So why wouldn't it be possible to do that right within AE? We recorded the audio for our current project in ProTools, separately from the video, and now it's about half a frame off from the video. Ultimately, it will be hard to notice, but even so, it's eating me up--there's gotta be a way (other than going into Premiere---we don't have any cuts, just one shot with green screen and animation, so it doesn't make sense to link to Pr).
