This version doesn't read Cryptomatte layers correctly for me, does anyone else get broken cryptomattes?

Dear Adobe Team,I'm writing to report an ongoing issue that's frustrating many motion designers, including myself.I originally reported a similar problem back in 2023 (), and unfortunately, it was never fully resolved. I managed to work around it by juggling older versions, installing and uninstalling as needed, but it's unbelievable that we face these kinds of problems with such an expensive Creative Cloud subscription. The situation has become much worse with the latest 2025 and 2026 updates.I regularly work on large projects with 500+ assets (PNG, JPG, SWF, audio, video files, etc.). I collect files properly, start working, and everything seems fine at first. Just started working with AfterEffects & interested in working in C4D Lite. When I open a Cinema 4D file, or use FILE > NEW > MAXON CINEMA 4D FILE, the Cinema 4d Launcher window appears. After a moment, a popup from Maxon requires me to register an account on their website. I made sure that I registered on their website with the same login as my Adobe CC account. However, no c4d files can be opened, it asks me to activate a Cinema 4D trial instead of reflecting some kind of Lite license.  I'm not finding much information online about this license manager at all. In all the tutorials that I see, there is absolutely no mention of this License registration or MAXON account requirement - they all seem to just open straight into the 3d editor.  Is Cinema 4D Lite no longer included with After Effects in v17?   EDIT: I restarted the app again, and now when I open a Cinema 4D Lite app, this very confusing screen blocks me from doing anything:

Maybe someone here would know if it's possible to get rid of the " i " symbol below the playhead ? It's hard to find my keyframes ! Maybe a checkbox in UI settings… I don’t know what’s the purpose of them by the way... 

Acabo de comprarme una Mac Studio M3 Ultra, luego instale After Effects 2026 y estuve trabajando con inteligencia artificial tratando de resolver el problema de la previsualización y no logré nada. Cuando muevo una imagen en el pre Visual izado de After Effects se comporta como si estuviera trabajando en cuatro o tres cuadros por segundo y a veces más. Cuando comienzo una previsualización tarda entre uno y dos segundos en arrancar el previo. Es imposible trabajar así. No tengo ningún otro Soft instalado en la Mac.

I was working fine until last Friday. Then it was the weekend, I didn't touch the Mac, and on Monday morning I get this fine error message from AE.  This is on a MBP M4 Pro, 24GB RAM, MacOS Tahoe (latest version), a fine machine that is working properly on anything (Premiere, etc), and was working properly with AE until three days ago. Nothing changed from the time AE was working to the time AE decided to throw this error and stop working. No new files, no new plugins, no new installations. Contacted Adobe support, allowed remote control, the support guy spent an hour trying to change folder permissions all over the place, nothing happened. All permissions seemed proper (that is, my user had R+W permissions on most of the folders, and “system” had R+W permissions on other folders that I guess just need system permissions). Nothing seemed out of place. Cleared everything, removed AE version 26, rolled back to 25.6. still the same message. I followed every article I found online, checked

Hi, I've just dowloaded Overlord 2, hoping it would offer a seamless way of working between illustrator and after effects but I'm still getting a lot of issues. I've attached a snippet of some of the illustrator drawing, I am trying to import and the one on the right is how it got imported to ae. Does anyone have any ideas what I've done wrong? I used the overlord panel to perform it. I just want to create a simple video with text values that change over time but is proving to be incredibly difficult.  

Issue - After Effects 2026 crashes when enabling a layer's 3D switch under the "Advanced 3D" renderer, specifically when the Windows Computer Name contains non-ASCII characters (affecting Chinese/Korean localized versions).Steps to reproduce -In Windows Settings, set the Computer Name to a string with Chinese/Korean characters (e.g., "我的电脑") and restart the system. Launch After Effects 2026 (v26.x) with the UI language set to Chinese or Korean. Create a new composition and set the renderer to Advanced 3D in Composition Settings. Create a new layer (e.g., a Solid or Text layer). Does anyone know how to resolve this? I uninstalled and reinstalled and getting the same error. After Effects can’t continue: The Common Extensibility Platform (CEP) suite couldn't be loaded. You may need to reinstall. After Effects can’t continue: unexpected failure during application startup. I'm running (Mac) Yosemite 10.10.5, using After Effects CC 2015 v.13.6.1. Any help is appreciated!

TLDR; Adobe Media Encoder renders my project for about 8 seconds before it begins rendering the "Effects Heavy" part of my project, then COMPLETELY freezes. Attempts to render through AE2025 are arguably worse- as it stays stuck at 0%. GPU and CPU usage in task manager are not anywhere close to 100% utilization. Pausing, then closing AE in Task Manager, then resuming DOES work, HOWEVER- it only allows it to render another 1 or 2 seconds worth of footage. Detailed Story:I've gone down the rabbit hole and done an insane amount of research regarding this issue since for the most part, I just got AE and was really thinking that purchasing this product would SAVE me time and effort. The most common fix for this issue, at least to most people, has been to go into task manager, force-closing AE, allowing it to re-open, then resuming the rendering in Media Encoder. Although this does infact work, it only allows Media Encoder to render about 1 or 2 seconds worth of my project before f

I need to use some animated Arabic text in an After Effects file that I'm working on, but I don't have the'Text Engine' option in my menu to change it to ‘South Asian and Middle Eastern’: 

I have a plugin with a bunch of parameters. I also want to show/hide some of these parameters depending on a checkbox. I do this by setting the flag AEGP_DynStreamFlag_HIDDEN. The part of hiding/unhiding parameters works but the panel size and scroll won’t update. This means that the parameters at the bottom go out of view when some other parameters change from hidden to shown, since the size of the panel doesn’t update. Expanding a group for example fixes the issue. Edit: Just found out that calling PF_UpdateParamUI after a parameter was unhidden, fixes the problem. It’s still a bug though.

Im working wit AE for about 15+ Years. Since i can think AE was reliable in terms of opening old files in newer versions and also saving files from newer versions to older versions. As it turns out this is no longer valid. Ive tried to save an downword compatiable version off a new macbook AE 2026 to work on an other station with a AE 2023 on it. Since the other workstation has old but yet reliable hardware its not able to uptate AE higer than 2023. Now its just not anymor possible to save downward compatible files. you guys are just out of your mind.

I have a LaunchKEY MINI MIDI controller. I wonder if I can use it in AE and Premiere for additional control? For example: assign a certain function to any of the keys. Or assign zoom or something else to a knob/pot. Is that even possible? Because I was thinking about buying a Stream DECK or something like that. Maybe it's not necessary if you have a MIDI controller. What do you think about it?

Hi community. Im using Element 3D plugin by videocopilot. I have a question regarding how 3D nulls behave. If I use the Create Null by the element 3D plugin, when I rotate the null object, the shape keeps its depth.But If I use AE null object, I also need to create a camera, and parent it to the null object, but when I rotate it in 3D space, Y Position, at some point during the rotation it becomes paper thin. But this behavior doesnt happen when Element 3D makes the null. This is the example for the null which element 3D creates, also camera is not needed when I rotate this shape.  Here is the 3D depth, when I use AE null at 90 degree Y axis, and I also need to use a Camera, because without the camera, the Null isnt animating any X.Y.Z positions. just the gizmo box animates.  Appreciate your help.

Hey everyone,I’ve been messing around with some GTA San Andreas gameplay footage, and I really love that stylized, slightly gritty look the game has — the colors, the outlines, and that almost comic-book vibe in some cutscenes. I want to try recreating something similar in After Effects for a short fan animation/video.I’m curious how other After Effects users would approach this. Do you focus mostly on color grading, use edge detection or cartoon effects, or maybe add some subtle motion graphics to capture that vibe? Are there plugins or techniques that really help bring out that “GTA” style without overdoing it?Would love to hear different workflows or tips — especially if you’ve tried recreating classic game aesthetics in AE before.
