After Effects

I just got some files from a contractor and I'm unable to open them on my machine.Files were delivered on a hard drive. I've tried to open from the drive, I also dragged the files onto my desktop and tried to open them. Getting the same error. I've attached a screenshot of the error I'm getting.Running a 2019 Macbook Pro, with the current version of After Effects. I use AE all the time, and have never had this problem. I've tried renaming the file, resetting my preferences... all the things I've seen online to help with this problem, but they still won't open. Any help would be much appreciated, otherwise I'm going to have to patchwork this thing together.

This is the highest on my list of improvements that After Effects can make."

After upgrading to AE 22.6, I am unable to render a comp that uses a CSV file to assign colors to multiple shape layers. I keep getting error 512. After rolling back to 22.5, the project works again.The mogrt I created from this project also crashes Premiere 22.6.1 when I try to render. Rolling back Premiere to 22.5 fixes the problem.

AE reports 9 expressions error but in theres only 8. If I select and delete CC Toner effect on v2 the app crash. Manually deleting each expession individually is the only way to go but during the process the expression warning message reports an astronomous amount of errors (see 2nd screenshot). Bug has been reported on multiple machine.

If you paste HTML code into a text box in AE (like copying and pasting the source code of a website), the interface freaks out and goes into a never-ending error alert loop. The text appears to render correctly on the canvas, but the timeline goes black, suggesting it's related to how AE sets the name of a text layer based on its contents

When attempting to add a sourceRectAtTime() expression to a Mask Path property that references a text layer, After Effects will immediately crash upon evaluation. Reproduction steps:1. Create a new project2. Create a new composition (tested with HDTV 1080 29.97 preset for repro purposes)3. Add a text layer4. Create a comp-size solid5. Add a comp-size mask to the solid by double clicking the mask button6. Since a couple of updates I've had this weirdest glitch.On imported RAW images, when the preview resolution is set to anything less than "Full", the layer's gamma suddenly gets waaaaay off.This only happens if "Linearize Working Space" is checked in Project Settings.I've also reproduced this bug with .dng instead of .RAF, so the RAW image format does not seem to matter.Currently using AE 18.1 on windows 10, Camera Raw is up to date and this glitch happens whether GPU acceleration is on or off.Unfortunately I can't seem to find on which version thig bug appeared, since I do not have access to anything prior to 17.7 and the glitch is still present there.It is possible to compensate the layer's gamma offset manually, but it's still a major workaround to get the preview working properly.I have attached two images and also made a small project to show this issue. New After Effects versions since version 22.3 are incredibly lagging in preview performance on Intel Macs. Simple animations like a text animator take a long time to preview. Tested on iMac Pro 2018 on macOS 10.15.12 and 12.4.After Effects 22.2.1 works as expected, performance is good. Please bring back acceptable performance for Intel Macs so we can use the newer versions.

I believe I just found a current problem related to the "Invalid Menu Operation" warning that has been discussed on this forum several times before. I'm working on a project that has a lot of compositions. If a composition is used more than 1168 times and I try to right-click it in the Project panel, I get an "After Effects Warning: Invalid Menu Operation" popup. I tested it in CC 2020 and CC 2022 - same bug. I had four different pre-comps used over 1168 times in other compositions. As a test, I just kept deleting the comps that used the pre-comps, and as soon as I deleted enough comps that the pre-comp was used 1168 times or less, the bug went away - no more pop-up and I could right-click the comp and use the menu. This happened for all four of the pre-comps that were used over 1168 times. I searched, and haven't seen anyone else report this specific problem / cause / solution.

Just noticed that I am not able to set a source location while using the clone tool (inside of the liquify effect). When pushing the option key (Mac OS), the 3D camera tool shows up.After Effects version: 22.2.1 (german layout)

(MacOS - AE version 22.0) When selecting multiple path groups (not the properties) and attempting to hit the shortcut to arrange a layer forward or backward, the program will crash.I only came across it accidentally when I thought I had the layer selected and not the path groups.I've also attached an error message that pops up when only one of the groups is selected. It seems that what's causing it is when path groups are selected, it's confusing them for masks, as seen in the menu command for arranging layers.This doesn't seem to happen on Windows from what I've seen.

In the German UI, effects for “Blur and Sharpen” appear in two distinct categories, „Weich- und Scharfzeichnen“ and „Weich- & Scharfzeichnen“, the former containing the “CC”-prefixed effects (Premiere Pro), the latter all the others (Media Core).This is neither helpful, nor is it probably intended.Fortunately, there's a simple fix:The After Effects Dictionary for the German language (Support Files/Dictionaries/de\_DE/after\_effects\_de\_DE.dat) needs to be updated so that the values for “$$$/MediaCore/FiltersAndEffects/Category/BlurAndSharpen” and “$$$/PremierePro/AEEffect/Category/BlurAndSharpen” are aligned.Best regards

I wanted to parent the position of a PNG to the Advanced Lightning effect’s “direction” of strike. However when I try to, I get an error saying that Advanced Lightning HAS no “direction” attribute. I used the pick whip to parent, dragging the PNG’s position to the “direction” in Advanced Lightning. I don’t know if this matters, but I’m using the “two way strike” preset.

As you move the mouse around in a Comp panel, the Info panel displays the RGBA values under your cursor.   If you leave the mouse pointer still, and use PgUp/PgDn to change the frame being displayed, the Info panel doesn't update, leaving you with out of date values until you move the mouse again. If you're trying to triage an issue with footage (eg trying to diagnose where in the pipeline a colour shift has occurred), that can be a problem. It can be worked around, but seems like something that ought to be corrected.   This is easily reproduced: animate a white shape moving across a black background. Position your mouse so it's over the shape, and the Info Panel will correctly show values of 1/1/1/1. Now use PgUp or PgDn keys to advance along the timeline until the white shape is no longer under the cursor; the Info Panel will still show 1/1/1/1 despite that no longer being true.   Can you please force the Info Panel to update on frame_change as well as mouse_move event

Hi, everyone. I have this issue and I cant't fix it.When I oppend the file after working it, AE gives me thtat error. I've been tried re installing, deleting all preferences, re booting, and nothing happens.I'm not using any plugin in the project. I'm working on a MacbookPro M1 Max with Monterrey OS.Anything else that I could do?Thanks!!!

Bonjour,  Je n'arrive pas à intaller after effect, le creative cloud m'affiche erreur 183 et me demande de reessayer l'instalation (ce qui ne fonctionnne pas evidement). Quelqu'un peut m'expliquer comment résoudre ce problème ?  Merci 🙂 

Bonjour, Je tente de visualiser ma composition en ébauche 3D ... Malheureusement l'affichage sur la composition reste noir ... Qu'avez vous à me proposer comme solution ? J'ai pourtant mis ma capacité de RAM.. À FOND ( 50G) et j'ai vidé le cache.. et je suis sur Windows 10.. s'agit-il de mon ordinateur ou du logiciel ? Bien à vous Jeanne 

I know that it's possible to preview the effects of ADOBE AFTER EFFECTS with ADOBE BRIDGE. But when I click from Adobe After Effects to preview the effects, I have a window with a warning that tells me to install ADOBE BRIDGE. Yet BRIDGE is already installed and this is the latest version updated. So I tried many times to uninstall, repair and install the entire ADOBE suite from CREATIVE CLOUD on my mac but still the same warning that BRIDGE is not installed. How it's possible ???? Even more strange, is when I open BRIDGE and I browse the effects (.ffx files) I can not preview them.The files are fixed and i saw in many tutorials that normally the .ffx should move to preview the effects. Can somebody help me please ? I am with Mojave 10.14.6 and also the latest software versions of the Adobe suite.
