1. Bring in SVG data from Figma via Toothpaste script2. Select top shape group and use the ungroup command3. wait for up to 10 min for After Effects to "ungroup" the shapes. I have no idea why this is taking this long, even on simple shape groups. Dragging the shapes out of the group also takes forever.
Creating a new precomp of items with (some) Essential properties is causing AE to crash Video here Import an item (testing .aep here) that has some essential properties - import can be via UI or CEP, doesn't matter add this item as a new layer to a new comp select the layer and precomp it using "Leave all attributes in xyz" AE crashes Observations: seems to be related to Essential Graphics in some way, most likely if the item was created in previous versions of AE removing Essential Graphics from the item fixes the issue and precomp works correctly same issue cross-platform (we've tested 6 computers in 3 locations - Mac and Win) same issue on AE 2024, 2025 and 2025-beta - 2023 works, aep was originally made in AE 2023 very unpredictable - 9/10 results in crash, occassionally goes through without issue tested 30+ variations of the Essential Properties (naming, fonts, types, groups configuration) without replicable success. On this specific item (attached), removi
EDITED textAfter update to 25.4 I have real trouble with rendering simple composition in my project. What was done in seconds, with new version takes tens of minutes.. In the composition are layers with different blend modes, all revealed by animated mask. Cache cleared, restart AE, restart of computer, updates.. all done..The slowdown is really extreme. One frame lasts about minute or more. There are few layers with color burn mode, which takes ages to render ATM..I can post the project.AE25.4 @ Windows 10, 16 core AMD and nVidia 12GB, 128GB RAM. GPU acceleration enabled..
I use After Effects latest version, don't startup app from 16th September.I think latest version is wrong.
I have encountered a bug in Adobe version 25.4 related to EXR files. When applying effects to EXR files (particularly the Extractor effect) the output becomes glitched. The image appears fragmented and unsmooth, which significantly impacts both the preview and the final render. This issue makes it difficult to work with EXR footage reliably.
Hi, When I preview my comp (usually by pressing the space bar) I can't see the red line that tracks the position on the timeline.I know this has been a regular issue, but I've not seen any suggested fixes that solve the problem.I'm using a blank file, I have a seperate drive for disk cache (which is empty), I've reset my preview options, I've ticked Show overlays and controls...Computer: Mac Mini M1AE version: 25.4.0 (build 86)Through pressing everything I have managed to be able to view the red indicator IF i zoom in or out of the timeline once it is running! This doesn't seen like I should need to do this.Attached two images, one just previewing timeline (no red line), one previewing timeline while zooming in/outAny ideas?Cheers Rob
If you resize the composition using the "Crop Comp to Region of Interest" feature in version 17.5.1, there will be a difference in the display between 2D and 3D layers with the same X and Y numbers. It didn't happen in versions prior to 17.1.4.The following reproduction procedure1, Creating a composition2, Create a new layer3, Resize the composition using "Crop Comp to Region of Interest"4, Check the 3D layer.Other than "Crop Comp to Region of Interest", the same phenomenon occurs when resizing with "Composition Settings / Advanced / Anchor" selected other than the center. Also, if you open a project file saved in version 17.5 or later in version 17.1.4 or earlier, the displayed position will change. The workaround I've found is to place the camera layer to restore the display.Thank you.
Hello, I think I found a scripting bug with ScriptUI dropdown lists in After Effects 25.4 and 25.5. When an item is selected from a dropdown list and triggers an onChange function, the code executes, but the dropdown list resets, as if nothing was selected. In After Effects 25.3.2 and before, this works as expected. Here’s how I tested it:To make sure it wasn't complex code causing the issue, I created a simple script with a ScriptUI palette that has two dropdown lists. The left dropdown does nothing when selected. The right dropdown executes an onChange function and shows an alert. When selecting an item from the left dropdown, the new selection holds. When selecting an item from the right dropdown, the alert appears correctly. Clicking “Ok” closes the alert, but it reappears immediately, and the selection in the right dropdown is cleared.I tested the same script in After Effects versions 24.6.8, 25.3.2 and 25.4. It works in 24.6.8 and 25.3.2, but fails in 25.4. It'
I'm using a translator to write this because my English isn't good, so I apologize in advance. The issue is that I've been struggling with this for two weeks now. My After Effects crashes when I press Alt+Tab. The crash happens like this: my mouse freezes, the screen goes black, and then the video card driver resets.I've already tried updating my drivers. I installed the studio driver, tried other ones, older ones, stable versions—nothing helped.I thought my graphics card might be faulty, so I borrowed a different one from a friend. The exact same thing happened.I've even tried reinstalling Windows three times, but the crashes come back after 2-3 days. I've also tried different versions of After Effects and swapped out my plugins. Still, after 2-3 days, the crashes start again.Honestly, I'm not sure if anyone here can help me, but I thought it was worth a shot.I've been using AE for 2-3 years before this without any problems.Thank you for time
Hi all,I’m getting repeatable memory errors in After Effects on two different PCs with the same project (a light 1080p comp). It happens during RAM preview and when running the 3D Camera Tracker.Error dialogs (screenshots attached):“After Effects: 21,820 MB / 132,563 MB of memory could not be allocated … (12803 / Unidentified caller)”“After Effects: Out of memory (23::40)”“Not enough memory for 3D Camera Tracker at frame 0 (25::16)”On one machine we also saw: HuionTabletCore.exe – 0xc0000142 (tablet not connected; driver removed)Once Windows even refused to open taskmgr.exe: “Not enough system resources to complete the requested service.”Project context1080p, standard effects, not GPU-heavy.Errors feel random: sometimes at preview start, sometimes during camera-track analysis. What I’ve triedPurged All Memory & Disk Cache; Disk Cache on local NVMe (hundreds of GB free).Increased Windows pagefile size (also tried “system managed”) → no change.Latest NVIDIA Game Ready driver tested on
In AE 25.3.2, when opening a saved project, all OCIO Color Space Transform effects go back to the default option.Seems to be a visual bug since it does not affect the project or its appearance, and we can still change them manually, but there is no way to know what color space was choosen before saving the project. This also affects presets saved.
i think its because i tryed to do something with the plug-ins idk
OS: Windows 10 Home 64bitI don't know what caused this but this project gets this error every time I hit space to preview it:After Effects error: Scribble internal error (512) ( 25 :: 60 )
Can't figure this out. This happens with every version of AE I've tried from 24.5 up, with a slew of drivers going back to the first version accepted in C4D earlier this year. CC Cleaner and DDU run when testing combos. Exporting a prores 422 file with no sound, from any project simple or complicated with different media. With or without additional plugin or scripts. It's not the cache or preferences, hardware panel render on and off, Multi frame on and off. Aaaaaaand with CUDA disabled. It will typically finish rendering, but occasionally just craps out. No compatibility issues found, and this is a new build. I will note that i get similar not good chime renders from a days old Lenovo Legion 9i that also has a 5080 series gpu in it.Intel Ultra 9 285k (no mods)PNY Geforce 5080192 GB DDR5Windows 11This project is relatively simple, stock footage from adobe (mp4) with only a few gaussian or drop shadows used. My project is set to the ACES 1.2, ACES CG, 32-bit working color space. Okay, this error is very easy to understand. If the blue values of the footage exceed the 100 limit, they are ignored by the spill suppressor. It should be easy to fix, because this effect is not marked as only working in 16-bit color space, but should also be fully usable in a 32-bit workflow.1. Image. show the situation without spill suppressor applied. 2. Image shows, that the spill suppressor is applied only under the 100 mark. but not in the blue Highlights. Thank you and have a nice day! 🙂 Hope you can fix it until next update 🙂
I have a scene with a TV covered in stickers. I applied a mask to these stickers to give them a holographic effect with an image, applying “Hard Light” and lowering the opacity.Well, when I open the .fla file in After Effects, the mask works, but the “Hard Light” effects and opacity are not applied.I understand that there are several solutions, such as converting the symbol to a bitmap, but I want to find out why this is happening and whether or not there is a solution.
When pasting text with "non-breaking space" character (ASCII Code 160) After Effects interprets it as a line break when it should just be a space. Here is a string you can use to test: "Try pasting this intro After Effects" I'm currently on macOS 26 and AE 25.4 but I've encountered this bug for many years. Thanks
I render out Cinema DNG files using After Effects all the time. 24.3 Mac (intel) has something seriously broken with it when it comes to accessing DNG sequences over an SMB network connection. Prior versions worked fine with no issue. Windows version not impacted. Everytime I open an existing project, it first asks to convert it to the new format and then it gives me a dozen or more errors: After Effects error: Photoshop file format error (-1). (45::35) Some details:AE for Mac (Intel) version 24.3.0 (build 50)Footage where this is occurring is Cinema DNG format.Files are stored on a TrueNAS server connected by SMB over 10Gbe Ethernet.Prior to this I have seen PS have issues occasionally opening DNGs on network drives but never AE.Oddly, when previewing C-DNG sequences, it shows most frames just fine. All DNGs are confirmed to be valid and not corrupted or special in any way.Prior versions of AE did NOT have this issue.Does not occur on Windows version of After Effec
Description of the Issue:When editing in Premiere Pro, I use the "Replace with After Effects Composition" feature on a piece of footage. After Effects opens and allows me to make changes with no issue. However, when I try to switch back to Premiere, or click outside of After Effects (e.g., to the desktop, browser, or any other window), my entire computer either crashes or freezes for 3–4 minutes before displaying an error message and crashing the Adobe application. This crash has occurred 100% of the time when using Dynamic Link for the past two months. I’ve created a complicated and slow workaround, but due to the volume of work I produce, I’d really like to find a proper fix.Adobe After Effects Version:25.2.0 (Build 131)(Note: this issue has persisted across several recent versions)Operating System:Windows 11 HomeProcessor:AMD Ryzen 9 5900X 12-Core, 3.70 GHzGraphics Card:NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 SUPER Steps to Reproduce: In Premiere Pro, use "Replace with After Effects Compos
Rotobrush keeps crashing AE. I was on previous version yesterday of AE and I started encountering the error. I only have 1 shot left to complete. I updated AE, and still rotobrush crashes. I made a consolidated version of the project, and deleted current rotobrush all other effects, Started rotoing from strach, and then crash. I've cleared caches, restarted and as i already said, checked and updated AE. I can not complete this project because of this crash. I thought maybe the refine edge might be crashing, so I tried with just normal brush, and it still crashed after a minute or 2 of using it.Crash message:"After Effects can't continue: Roto Brush & Refine Edge plug-in generated an unexpected exception."Mac Studio Apple M2 Max, OS 15.7.1 (24G231)AE Version: 25.5.0 (build 4)
Hi, I'm working on a brand new desktop with After Effects and suddenly after a few moments of uploading a file, the composition freezes and the timeline also stops moving. It seems to happen to all the new projects I open. I have tired restarting the app but it always freezes and does the same thing after just a few moments in. It also somewhat lags behind when I go to other panels? I'm wondering if this is a problem related to my CPU or GPU. I believe my drivers are all up to date as well if that's the issue. CPU: Ryzen 5 7600XGPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060Ti 16GBWindows 11
No crash if loaded onto a Solid (makes no sense but just tot test) When loaded on an EXR layer the effect crashes After Effects. Even the latest beta of AE crashes, the difference there is that it crashes immediately and closes the app instead of giving the windows below. Win 11 AE 25.5.0b4 RTX 3090Ti / NVSD 581.29 Does not crash on a Mac.
I've not had an issue adding rounded corners to a stroke before... been using the same technique multiple times until this suddenly occurred.Made a stroke with several right-angle cornersClicked 'Add' and selected Rounded CornersChanged the value to my desired roundness (in this case, 71)And only SOME of the vertices are becoming rounded... This is new to me. I've purged memory. Restarted (both Ae and computer). Maybe I'm missing a simple detail? Any thoughts?
After Effects 25.5.0 (Build 4). Windows 11. When previewing in full screen mode (full screen checked in preview panel), the timeline zooms way out after stopping the preview. When not in full screen mode in preview, the timeline remains as is.
