Olympus EP-L1 raw files have serious jagged diagonals. They're visible on sharp curved surfaces but not on straight sharp diagonals from 0o to 45o. Below is a comparison between in-camera jpeg and .ORF converted to DNG in Lightroom 3.3, ACR 6.3. BTW, this is visible on .ORF files as well as DNG. I took these photos with RAW+JPEG at full resolution, highest quality. Notice also how the Bayer decoding affects complex texture. I have updated to Photoshop CS6 and I'm having a problem with camera raw adjustments.When loading a batch of images into camera raw all is fine then after a few images have been adjusted everything slows down. Adjustment controls take 1-3 seconds to activate when clicked on.Using MacPro 2.66 Nehalem 8 core, 32GB RAM, OS 10.6.8, ATI Radeon HD 4870Any suggestions welcomed.Have tried:disabling all plug-insLaunching Camera Raw from Photoshop and BridgeClosing all other programsAdjusting Camera Raw Cache(currently 10gb)
Adobe's web page "New Downloads" refers to a new download by "Adobe Camera Raw and DNG Converter"—but when downloading the self-extracting archive then it will contain DNG Converter 7.2 only (plus a bazillion of camera and lens profiles) but no Camera Raw 7.2. What gives?
When I try to update Camera Raw from 6.7 to 7.1, from the 7.1 setup file I downloaded, I get the error:"Update failedUpdates could not be appliedThis patch is not applicable for you. Please check for updates from the help menu in your product to see a list of latest updates available."If I go to help in Photoshop CS5 and click on updates, it says that all of my programs are up to date, but Camera Raw is still 6.7. It absolutely refuses to update to 7.1I just traded in my Nikon D3100 for a Nikon D3200 and 6.7 does not support it, but 7.1 does, so I REALLY need it to upgrade because I like to shoot in RAW.Please help????

It's been my experience that I am unable to view RAW images shot by my new Nikon D800 with ACR 6.7 installed, or with Photoshop CS 6 beta which includes an ACR 7 plug-in. This is true whether I'm shooting in Live View or not.Anyone else having difficulty with RAW images shot by the Nikon D800?
I'm reading the part of Martin Evening's "Adobe Photoshop CS6 for Photographers" dealing with sharpening in ACR. As in his previous edition for CS5, he seems to be saying that putting the Detail slider at 100 is akin to USM in PS, while placing it at 0 minimizes halos. I would gather this means the 0 setting is deconvolution sharpening. As I recall, Eric Chan indicated that the settings were the other way round: 0 was akin to USM and 100 deconvolution. Bring the "Chart" tab from the DNG Profile Editor under the Camera Calibration tab. This Camera Calibrator software is wonderful. Who wouldn't want to use it once they saw how fast and easy it is to do? I was thrilled when I finally found it and put it to the test. Suddenly the whole Camera Calibration tab in CR came to life. The code is already Adobe engineered, and tested, so implementing it shouldn't cost much. The extra value added is worth far more. I have many friends I want to share this jewel with, but they will be overwhelmed by the complete DNG Profile Editor tutorials. All they need is the camera calibrator to start their journey into better color control. Don't hide such gems!
After upgrading to Camera Raw 6.4, when I have it open I cannot view my windows taskbar. I have "Keep the taskbar on top of other windows" checked under Taskbar and start menu properties dialog box. With the earlier version of Camera Raw I was able to toggle between various applications using the taskbar while camera raw was open. Please advice. Thanks.
I have no idea what kind of impact this has on Lr's dev editor design, but many of us would like this built into Lightroom if possible.
First I'd like to say how totally stoked I am that Highlight Recovery is working so much better than it used to - thank you, thank you, thank you... Second, the recovered highlights still lack detail and are flat - the recovered highlight tones tend to be compressed. If I have the time, I often use local adjustment to lower exposure a smidge and contrast a lot to bring out more detail in the highlights, instead of recovery. (Note: clarity only works in the mid-tones). Fill Light is magical - brings out detail in shadows in a very natural and beautiful way. Highlight recovery however - not so much. So, this FR/Idea is to bring out more intra-highlight detail when doing recovery. It is my understanding that Fill & Recovery both use masking to keep from compressing midtones while expanding darks & lights respectively. As of Lr3, this works *very* well. I'd just like to see some contrast reduction applied in the masked highlights to bring out tonal detail in the highlights. This is
It would be nice to be able to hit specific areas with more noise reduction than other areas using an adjustment brush.
I know and appreciate that Lightroom keeps the brushes down to the essentials, but I feel that a brush to selectively control highlight recovery would be very welcomed. As a wedding photographer, I do have a need for recovering highlights often. The recovery slider does a great job of bringing back detail in the dress, but leaves highlights in the eyes, teeth and cheekbones looking flat. There are two ways I can approach this now, neither of which is very efficient. The first is to paint over any blown highlights with an exposure adjustment, which often leaves unnatural light or dark halos at the edge of the mask. Using the Auto Mask usually results in a pixellated look at the edges. My second approach is to create two layers in Photoshop from the RAW files, one with highlight recovery and one without. I then mask in the areas that need the highlights recovered. This works beautifully, and the edges of the masked area blend smoothly. It does slow me down though, and because of this I o
Error rendering RAF file Fuji S200EXR. Burned highlights colored in green, and can't be recovered. (no details, wrong color). while in camera jpeg's is ok. Settings: iso100 or 200, RAF+jpeg, 6mp mode, DR=auto. Problem became visible when camera select DR=200% or 400%. When DR selected manually, no trouble. Tried to change EXIF header in RAF (for imitation manual select DR) - didn't help. I can send RAF files for checking.
HELP HELP HELP I have recently purchased a bran new D90 and am having major issues in getting PS bridge to open the RAW (NEF) files in the CR utility. I have reviewed all the posts on here and tried to follow all the instructions! I have 1) downloaded the latest CR version from the Adobe website and installed it (version 5.2) 2) removed the NIKON NEF codec 3) purged the Cache for the folder that the NEF files are located in. None of this seems to have helped!! Has anyone managed to solve this?? PLEASE help!
I am working with Photoshop CS5 and a Canon EOS Digital Rebel XS. The photos are taken off the camera with Image Capture, and put into the Pictures folder by default. A JPEG and CR2 file are imported. I cannot open the CR2 file – I have checked the plug in, and it is the 6.3 plug-in. Any ideas on what may be wrong would be appreciated. I've gone through the Adobe help files and tried the solutions listed...
Does anyone know when Adobe will have a download to allow CS3 to process RAW files from the new Canon 7D?
I have a Canon EOS Rebel XT and am using Photoshop CS2 and can not open my Raw images. Canon saves the images as a CS2 file. I guess needs converting.. Please Help!!
Creating a thread for 64bit Windows7 users to post in regards to support for the DNG codec on 64bit-Win7.Currently 64bit nor Win7 is supported for the RC codec. Adobe supports 64 bit, in CS4, LR 2.x and LR3 beta. I expect 64bit and Win7 for the codec.For those who want to play with the unsupported RC codec on 64bit win7, it would be great to get comments on this thread with your experiance.
I'm unable to get the .CR2 files from my new Canon Rebel T3i to open in Photoshop CS4. I just got this camera and I never had this problem with my old camera (Rebel Xsi). The raw files from the Xsi will still open, but not the ones from the new camera. Can anyone help me understand why this is happening?Thanks, Jo

Hi,At this moment I have a simple camera Panasonic DMC-FZ8.Before buying a step better I am curious to see the quality-difference of RAW-images of some other cameras like Nikon DX or Canon etc.And (not for buying, but to see the difference) may be some FX RAW images of a professional camera.I would like to experiment with the RAW-files of those cameras.Question:Where can I find some free un- edit RAW images (for download) to experiment with it in ACR .Images with the theme like those below...also: nature / vacation / landscape.Thanks Fred K
I'd love to have an Adobe supplied codec for x64 Windows that lets me look at DNGs in Explorer. Having to pay a third party for what is supposed to be the new open image standard seems wrong to me.
Creating a thread for 64 bit Vista users to post to regarding support for the DNG codec on Vista x64. Currently x64 is not a supported platform for the RC version of the codec. Hopefully this is something that will be corrected when it ships. Adobe seems to support 64 bit, in for example LR 2.0 beta, so I imagine this will happen as well for the codec, but just to be sure 64 bit Vista users should comment on this thread. Damon
