Captivate

Hi, I'm new here. I'd like to purchase Adobe captivate. Can I download to 2 computers in my household or only 1? Also has anyone used the student/teacher download for Adobe captivate, is it exactly the same or are there some limitations between the the regular priced one and the student/teacher priced one?Thanks

I have the most up to date Captivate, 11.5.1.499, once I bring in an SVG item or use on from assets. When I double click the SVG to do the edits, the SVG morphs to white. I'm using Windows 10. I've read through several blogs and community post and none of the "resolutions" resolve my issue or the resolution is for a previous update. 

Hi,Captivate 9My course's narrated audio will not play on the first slide when opening the course when published to html5. SWF works as expected, but html5 is the requirement. After reaching slide 2, and returning to slide 1, the narrated audio will play.Am I missing something? I have other courses created from the same theme that does play as expected on slide 1.Any advice is appreciated.Thanks,Dan

Greetings:I am developing a refresher course that allows a learner to take a pre-test. If the learner passes the pre-test, they do not have to take the course. Failing the pre-test takes the person to Lesson 1 and is given two attempts to pass the final course test. The problem is having the pretest taken only once, and yet maintain the two attempts for the other learners that have taken the entire course. Thank you! Ronn

For at least a week I've been experiencing a very frustrating random problem.   Occasionally when I attempt to save a project, an error message pops up saying something like "an unexpected exception has occured" with buttons for Retry and Cancel.  No matter which one I choose - or if you just X out of the popup - a fatal error message comes up saying that the application will be terminated.   I have found that if I X out of the first window, then save the project under a different name, it will save (it takes a longer than usual time but will save), but then I have to click on OK for the application to terminate.  Then I restart and load the renamed version I just saved.   This isn't just happening with one project.  It's been happening with every project I've worked on the last week or two. Anyone have anything similar happening?  Or any ideas?  This is a real pain in the you-know-what.

Hi all,Just wondering if anyone else has encountered this or for a reasonable fix? I add a hyperlink into my project. When I export to html5, the link is modified greatly and shortened. When I click the link, it does not load the page. But surprisingly, when I refresh, the link works. It seems that captivate is modifying the link to shorten it? Is there any fixes or ways around this? I do not want to add a tinyurl etc Cheers,Adrian

I've been trying to work on a click and reveal slide where the "next" button appears after the user clicks on all interactions, and am using forced navigation rather than advanced actions. I followed this tutorial https://helpx.adobe.com/captivate/using/create-branching-forced-navigation.html as well as many other similar tutorials online. I started from scratch and made a dummy slide, very simplistic with no added objects - just an object whose state will change and three buttons to initiate that change.  I added another button for the "next" button, named it "objectname_completed" and ensured it was not visible in output. I have triple-checked all naming conventions and even renamed all the slides and objects. The button still will not show up. Is there anything that I could be missing?

Hey guys,I'm a new user to Captivate and I can't believe that this hasn't been asked before but I can't see anything while searching the forum.How do I change the default font from Trebuchet MS to Arial for all new projects?The only thing I've found is the Object Style Manager but I can't see an option to set a default font for all objects - surely you don't have to change each object individually?

I'm having an issue with a drag and drop projects.A draggable red-object (#1) disappears when dropped to its corresponding droppable blue-object (droppable #5). Project set up:1. Draggable objects will go back to their place if there is no match.2. Each droppable object is set up to No Action3. I'm not using the correct and incorrect captions4. On project success or failure I set it to no action as well.See screen shots before dragging and when object #1 is dropped to its corresponding droppable object #5.Any suggestion to fix this?   

I'm working on a large project where there is a branch index slide that points to other slides within the same project. What I'm trying accomplish is to have the enduser hover over a button which would open a popup (slidelet?) with links to other slides in the project.  I know I can do this with rollover stick slidelet, but the enduser has to click the button(not just hover like I would prefer).  Does anyone know if there is a way in captivate 2019 to accomplish this with a hover only? I do recall reading about a cp extra widget that may help me get this result.

Hi All, BackgroundI am working on a course that needs to be screen reader accessible (it is my first accessible course). I have been told to test the screen reader function with Windows Narrator as that is the software available to our employees. I found a link in the community about using buttons to give a better (or at least more consistent) experience/build for learners as you can then fully control tab order and make sure the accessibility text gets picked up. Community Discussion Here There was also a section of the discussion talking about prompting users to disregard the 'clickable' description with JAWS or other readers. IssueWith my testing the content is presenting correctly and working with tab. However the reader is picking up the meta-tag 'button' and saying it at the end of every tabbed object. AskIs there a way to disable or amend the meta-tag so it is not saying 'button' after every object? Am I better off just pre-notifying my screen-

Is there a way to get the last CC to stay on screen until user clicks 'Next' or on the click box? we thought we had got this to work yesterday however today it is not working again. Is there a bug in Captivate?  

In one of my quizzes, the results slide disappeared.  I checked all the settings and cannot figure out what went wrong.  Is there a way to add one to a quiz now, or do I need to redo the quiz?  Thanks for any suggestions!

Hello! I have a few objects where they are showing multiple uses in the library:it is supposed t be on slide 18. but not 19 or 35.  however, I can not find it, it is not in my timeline or in the advanced actions I have in my slide.  Anyone have any ideas on how I can find it and delete to help my file size?  

Captivate 2019 11.5.5 in a Moodle LMS Any suggestions? Hi,It was reported to me that a course I develop and manage that is expected to resume at the last visited slide was not working properly. The course is set to:Also, the course is set in the LMS to open in the current window, not a pop up. Not sure if this relevant.  The report did not state that they were forced to start over, but that they were being returned to a slide that they had previously exited from. After some testing, I noticed different results based on how you exit the training. I experienced exactly what the report stated. I had already had some activity on the course. I opened the course and it opened to the expected slide, 5 of 69. Great. However after advancing to slide 10 of 69 and clicking the X provided by a captivate toolbar, the course reopened to the previously exited slide 5 of 69, not the last exited slide. I'm using Captivate 2019 11.5.5.553 and have created a responsive SCORM 1.2 project for Moodle I have a number of 'knowledge check' slides that display perfectly fine in Chrome, but the question itself disappears first time the slide is accessed in Edge. For each slide I have to click backwards and forwards again to get the text to appear. I would love a resolution to this please TIA 

Hi,Captivate beginner here..I followed the instuctions on a Mute button tutorial which seems to be working... state changes etc and sound switches on and off when button is selected.However, i want the sound to play by default with the option to turn it off if the user does not want the commentary. Currently, it starts in mute and i have to press the button to switch the sound on. I am having a problem with score reporting to my LMS. They are telling me that it has to do with Captivate reporting both a "raw score" and also a "normalized score". I saved the Course as SCORM 2004 (3rd).  The problem is that the score being shown in the LMS is generally much higher than the raw score, and is supposedly the normalized score. Today I had a student score 89.83 on a course, and the reported score was 95. Not insignificant.  I cannot find any documentation on this and have no idea how to control what score information is being sent over, and cannot find a variable that would tell me what either value is for testing. I assume raw is the one i get on the results screen, but the normalized I have no idea. 

Having an issue with Captivate 2019 on Big Sur.  I have downloaded the Captivate version that wassupposed to fix the compatability issues.  I'm running 11.5.5.678. Software simulation isn't working as I expected.  Regardless of what application I choose to capture, the result is only the mouse movements, but on my blank desktop.  No application! Is this a known issue? Is there a fix or workaround?    

I would dearly love to see Captivate have the ability to customize the Storyboard feature to allow for the Word Document created for the project to have the text that shows up between slides: slide length, timing etc. to be turned off so that just the slide images can be on the Word Doc.  I have to go through the Word Doc. and delete all of this. I realize this is valuable information for large teams that are co authoring an e-learning, but since Captivate is so good about allowing customization of so many things, to be able to not include all that text in a storyboard would be awesome! 

I have an interesting request from a client. They would like the user to enter some data into a TEB on one slide then on the next slide that data pulls through to another TEB as the default text and allows them to edit it. This continues for a few slides as the user continuusly refines their text, each box capturing the edited text as a new variable. Doesn't seem do-able with the default TEB tools but is there a JS solution that would achieve this? Thanks

Hi all,I know this is a common problem, but was wondering if anyone has any permanent fixes for it?I am using Captivate 9. I have a software simulation project, and exporting it to video. This format suits our organisation the most. However, when I publish the video, audio from other slides keep overlapping at the beginning.Things that I have done.made sure there gaps before and after the audio clips in every slide.use WAV audio files.These files have been recorded, cleaned in audition and imported into captivate.Publish settingscustomise preset tickedforce republish ticked Profile: MainLevel 50VBR 1 pass encodingtarget bitrate 9, max bitrate 9 Sometimes these settings have worked, but sometimes they don't. Has anyone got a permanent fix on how to avoid this in the future?Your responses are much appreciated!Adrian

I uploaded Captivate 2019 about two months ago and am taking a Captivate Fundamentals course in Udemy. When I started the chapter on the Assets button in the upper left corner of the screen, an interesting message appeared: Why did this message appear? Which button should I click? And there was no button to close Captivate. I had to use Ctrl/Alt/Delete to close Captivate.

Hi all - I may have a pretty niche question. Within Captivate, is there any way to make a course not revisitable within the Captivate Prime LMS? I have a course that for the life of me I can't figure out how to make it so Captivate Prime doesn't take learners to the beginning of the course after completing the course and then clicking on "Revisit" within the LMS. I have other trainings that when revisited in Prime, the learner is taken to the final slide where there is just a thank you note and an Exit button. But for some reason, I have another training that no matter what settings I change, it always takes the learner to the beginning of the course on revisit. I posted in the Prime community page and never got a response, so I thought I'd try here with a larger audience. Any and all suggestions or brainstorms are appreciated. Thank you!!
