Captivate

I need to align a text field over a screenshot of a textfield so it looks to the user like they are actually typing in the text box on the image. This is easy in a blank project, but I need to be able to do this and it fit on different monitors. I have tried multiple approaches, including: Fluid Boxes, positioning techniques...I dont understand why this is so incredibly difficult on software like captivate. This is simple CSS. Can anyone help me figure out what I am doing wrong?

I have created a simulation project. I added an audio file to the background of each slide. Some of the slides play the audio file I added then the project stops like it is supposed to waiting on the learner to click the right part of the screen. But, some of the slides will have a pause and then start playing audio files from other slides.  I checked the Audio section and there is only 1 audio file. I checked the file itself to confirm it is just the portion I want for the slide.  If I duplicate the slide and move it to the end of the project and hide it, then the duplicate audio doesn't happen but I don't want to do that for every slide. Does anyone know if this is a known issue and how to correct it?

I'm trying to record a software simulation (Demo) with narration with Captivate 12.3 on my Windows 11 laptop. Unfortunately, no matter which microphone I select and calibrate, the audio captured is so faint that I can barely hear about every 10th word. In all the times I've attempted to calibrate, only once did I see green flash on the Input Level indicator bar, and it never came close to "Good". I get the same result regardless of which microphone I select. I've used a desktop mic, a headset mic, my laptop mic, my webcam mic, and the mic built into my video conferencing monitor.  Thoughts on this?

I am trying to embed an MP4 video into my Captivate project.  When published or even in the preview the videos won't play.  There is just the spinning wheel. Before using Captivate Classic I was using Captivate 2017 and never had an issue with this.  Is this an issue with Captivate Classic or is there a fix?

Microsoft language English (India) speech voices aren't appearing in Adobe Captivate.Can anyone please help me resolve it

I have installed a new Microsoft voice in my machine and registered to use it with other applications. For Captivate, the voice agent is available in the Speech agent list. The issue is, though I am selecting the new MS voice agent, the voice is not changing.i.e Its using Microsoft David as default voice though I am changing the agent to MS Ravi.Now my questions:1) Why the voice agent's voice is not changing?2) Do I need to install or register the MS Voice agent in different place?3) The new voice agent is working with other Text-to-Speech application but not working with Captivate  - any reason?3) How can I use other Microsoft voice agent in Captivate?I am using captivate 2019. I have Adobe Captivate Classic 11.8.3.8 and Windows 11.I can no longer Print to Word (perhaps the latest update broke it?).  I get the message:Publish to MS Word failed.  Retry after ensuring that - The document is not open. - You have installed Microsoft Word. I do have Word installed, and the document is not open, as it hasn't even been created yet.  I don't have any Word documents open.Can any advise on the fix please?Thank you in anticipation.  🙂

Hello, I make a lot of software simulations in Captivate. It would save me a lot of time if I could change some of the universal settings in simulation slides. Here are a couple examples of what I mean: The click boxes default to not having a Hand Cursor. Can I change that setting so that they do?The Failure / Hint / Success boxes are automatically No Fill, Black Text, Font Size 19, Arial. Can I change those format settings? Thanks.

Hi, I'm using Captivate 11.8.3, and somhow a small, grey, Submit button appears in the middle of one of my slides in the .mp4 published video. The Captivate slide it appears on does not show any button of any kind. How do I get rid of it?

My client needs both a demonstration mode and a training mode for their courses. Using captivate 9, its seems like the program is unable to record both modes from within an existing project with intro slides/summary slides (from one recording). I need both simulation modes to have specific object styles and master slides applied to them. What is the best path forward?My goal is to only have a SME record one time and from that recording have two courses (one demo and one training) with specific object styles applied and intro/summary slides. Hey everyone - so I have been using Javascript, Shared Actions, and other advanced coding topics for a while now in Captivate 2019 or Captivate for Developers as I think of it (whilst 2023 is Captivate for Designers). I have a project that is about 70 slides long and plays audio on 50 of them. It is easy enough to get audio to play per slide. My issue is that on each OnEnterFrame I fire a Javascript function that controls the length of a completition bar per slide. Because I can only fire one thing per OnEnterFrame, I began looking for solutions.  a) attach the audio to an invisible shape per slide. The first audio plays. Subsequent do not. b) create a shared action - using an advanced action that fires the Javascript then plays the first audio file, I then created a shared action that would (I assumed!) allow me to set the javascript then ask for which audio to play. Of course it didn't work that way and even though the Select which audio to play appeared, the

Hi I am back to Captivate after about 7-8 years. I installed a trial version of All-New Captivate and noticed that many things have changed during this period.  I just tried a simple simulation recording and got the output in three modes as expected. Now, the instruction box is rectangle by default. How do I change it to typical Callout box with a pointer towards the action item, say a Menu? Please suggest. I looked around in Preferences, Properties of the box, timeline, etc. I don't see any setting to do so. Sorry if I have missed something very obvious. Sreekanth

I am using the latest version of Captivate (2019) and am using KnowBe4 as my LMS. I've created a training module with a 5 question quiz at the end. When I did a test run in KnowBe4, everything was working great until I did a test run on the quiz and purposely failed to see how it would direct me. My issue is that when I fail the quiz, it does not allow me to retake it. Even if I don't review the answers and just close out, it does not let me retake it. Is there something I'm doing wrong? I have my quiz preferences set as follows:  I would like users to be able to retake the quiz as many times as it takes for them to pass it. Currently, when I fail the quiz in KnowBe4, it doesn't show the module as completed. Instead, it has a "resume" button, but when I click it, it just takes me back to the quiz results page with no option to start the quiz or module over. 

Hi I am publishing Demo, Training and Assessment modes of simulations. The first slide of these outputs have a use case that drives the task captured in simulation. When I view the output immediately after publishing, everything is fine. However, when I launch the index.html from the published folder, I just see the project background and hear the audio on the first slide. The text and images placed here are not visible until I refresh the browser.  I have cleared the Adobe Captivate cache folder. I have tested this in Edge and Chrome browsers.  Anything else I can do to resolve this issue? Please suggest. Edit: I am using Adobe Captivate Classic v11.8.3.8. - Sreekanth

Hi,I'm working on a pretty simple timer advanced action, but I haven't been having much luck.I have my advanced action set up to the following:First tab:WHILE TestTimer =/= 0, decrement TestTimer by 1.Second tab:IF TestTimer = 0, Exit I have my TestTimer variable showing on screen and that's working fine, but it doesn't exit when it reaches zero.I've tried several variations of this, such as trying to hide/show objects based on TestTimer value within the same advanced action, but have not had any luck so far and it's really confusing me.

Hello,I have a slide that contains a video that is several minutes long. In case the viewer misses some information, I'd like to have a "Rewind" button that jumps back X frames and continues playing the video. I am not looking to have the slide jump back to the very beginning of the slide, but rather jump back a certain number of frames or seconds from whenever the button is pressed.I have created a variable called "v_rewind" set to a value of "cpInfoCurrentFrame-10". On click of the Rewind button, I assigned "cpCmndGoToFrameAndResume" with "v_rewind".When I run the project, the button does not work as intended. Instead it jumps back to the first slide of the project. Does anyone know how to fix my script?

I'm using a really cool gif for my project background. To have it loop seamlessly I've set it up on the first slide to display for the rest of the project. However when I go the next slide, it is displayed on top, hiding everything else. I can't re arrange it in the subsequent slides, as it only shows on the first slide's timeline, which makes sense. Now in the properties for this gif, it shows a greyed out check box labeled place on top. I'm not sure why this is there since that's the only place the "option" exists. And interestingly it is not placed on top on that particular slide.Is there some way to fix this without messing up the seamless looping of the gif? Any way to re-order the slide layers in advanced actions?Thanks for any help!

Hi - Do you create buttons and put them on Master slides or on the Slides themselves?

Realize that everything is now responsive in the all new Captivate...but is there a way to change the slide size to 1280x720?  This is the only size that we can upload into our LMS.  Thank you!  

When adding a simulation to a project, Captivate changes the size of text and video blocks on preceding slides. Clicking "Undo" removes the simulation slides but doesn't revert the changes made to the preceding slides. The only option is to close Captivate and "Discard" all changes. We've tried creating simulations using different capture types (e.g., fullscreen, application window, and custom size), but the outcome is always the same. Do any of y'all have any tips, tricks, or recommendations for working around this issue?!

Hi,I have been using Adobe Captivate 2019 version 11.5.5.553 for training development.Today, I have also installed Adobe Captivate Classic version 11.8.2.254. In Captivate Classic, when you open the Assets library, the Discover option under Character is DISABLED! Whereas in Captivate 2019, the Discover button is active and allows you to add more characters. Can someone please tell me how to enable the "Discover" option in Captivate Classic under Characters and Buttons??Thanks, Rupali

In my quiz, I have the failed attempted set to Jump to slide #, so that participants have to review the content again before trying to reanswer the questions.  The problem I am having is that the "return to quiz" function is not working.  I have tried every combination of setting the slide exit to "return to quiz" and I have set a button to "return to quiz".  Neither work, the button does nothign when click and then plays through to the automatically jumps to the next slide.  I then tried to set it up so that the slide would jump back to a quiz slide, but it then doesn't allow the user to re-attempt the question.  

My IT guy and I have been trying to figure this out. I'm on Classic 11.8.3.8 on an AVD/remote desktop. I can record audio through my remote desktop in Teams and other apps, but not in Captivate. The System sound settings show that CpC is recognized, but when I try to AutoCalibrate, there's nothing. 😞Help
