Howdy folks. I took a break after my last breakdown and have a cooler head (sorry about that). I am trying to rig a character that is torso up. It has a head, a torso, and arms, but no legs. This seems common, but when I look at tutorial videos they only seem to go head-only or an entire body. The problem I am encountering is that when I pin the torso, the head flies off. But if I unpin the torso, the entire body moves with the head. I am also confused because when I select the Body folder, the head becomes highlighted. Could I please get some help? I have more questions after this, but one step at a time, I suppose.
Please help! I can't open up Character Animator because I get a system error: 'the code execution can't proceed because OpenCL.dll was not found' I am writing this after googling, uninstalling, and reinstalling, and trying to find some advice here. It wasn't working for me.
Hello out there, I need a hero. I titled this "rigging" it's more like a bunch of frigging issues with my diva puppet and I am at my witts end. I have a May 2nd deadline to submit my final piece of my animation series in order to qualify for a grant to learn After Effects in more depth., but my character just disappererd on me one day as soon as I was almost finished with him. puppet just up and left me last week and I moped for a bit and started over. He was the first puppet I made last year and he needed work anyway. Got him up and running and then silly me must have missed wacthing Dave;s video's because I decided to try the one of the last two things I had not tried (having the 2 heads); silly me... everything seemed to work, but there was a time dely where my character would disapper with the Head Turner behavior. It could also be that I didn't do the behavior correctly on the profiles, as I look back. Currently the thing that has me close to tears is the simplest thing
Hola hace una semana que empece con adobe Ch y no se donde obtener bocas para los puppet, me pueden ayudar, Gracias.
When applying Motion Library, my character's feet seem much too far to the right, and not directly underneath. I'm assuming it's a rigging issue, but I've moved the "Waist", "Hips", "Body" and other tagged locations, and I just can't get the feet to exist in the right location for Library actions. Any ideas? Am I missing a "set feet here" setting? Thanks to all!
I have a puppet and I want to use auto-swap for its left arm.I have used Adobe Illustrator to create all the arm positions and I named them correctly. I have the leader/follower behavior turned on. I have draggable handles, one is the leader and the others are the folower. I have given all of them the same name. I dragged the arm Group into the triggers panel (into the create swap set area) and set the checker on „auto-swap“.But when I switch to record-mode and try to drag the arm, it doesn’t work. If I try to move it, it just jumps into one stiff arm position, which does not move at all and also isn't able to bend. When I try to move the arm, the other (the right) arm starts to move, even though I'm not even near it with my mouse pointer. Has anyone observed similar behavior and know a solution for it?
Hello, I am running Character Animator on a Lenovo Legion Pro 5 with the following specs:Processor 13th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-13700HX 2.10 GHzInstalled RAM 32.0 GB (31.7 GB usable)I am working on an animated project that is set at 24fps, but it consistently actually runs around 11fps. There are two characters in the scene w/ 4 head triggers, 6 emotion triggers, 1 action trigger (raising a hand), 3 body triggers, and 12 hand triggers for each hand...and 13 layers on the timeline (incuding 8 background items) and two audio tracks. I was able to animate the first character with no issue, but the hands on the second character are starting to deform when I try to transition between them. It is not consistent in the same spot, and the deformation seems to be a very slow transition to the next trigger. What can I do to help solve this issue?
The first 2 images are from my character with the frontal headshot only. The 3rd image (with the frontal and quarter view angles) shows how my character looks when I move my head. I'm trying to figure out why this ones stretches and the other one doesn't (which it shouldn't). Both characters have the same settings in Ch. Animator and in Illustrator.
As the question said, would it be possible to toggle a behavior on and off via hotkeys without duplicating the layer to avoid making a puppet too complicated?
Hi -I have a character with a simple replay animation of the character waving. The replay has both a trigger to change the hand to a wave hand and the dragger recording. Replay is set to stop / sustain replay... but when I hold down the replay trigger key, the dragger animation suspends, but the hand swap trigger goes back to the default hand. I've seen posts about this in the past but no solutions offered. Any suggestions?
Hey all, back into my CH project and really getting the hang of things... Doing position to position animation with the arms and it is going well, but Im having trouble getting the elbow to bend in the desired direction. Puppet is full frontal so elbows can be either direction. However getting an arm to reverse direction, ( swing from raised hand position, to arm hanging to side, elbow out ) has got me completely stumped. I can get it ready for record but afterwards it doesnt make the full swing in playback...Screenshot of my setup, any tips or tweaks would be much appreciated. ( I'm looking at you, alank99101739 lol )* it should be noted I am not positioning the arms live, im recording them in different positions and tweening between them
Hey everyone! Sorry for the negative title, I'm just mindblowingly frustrated trying to troubleshoot all of my issues. I've been following several YouTube guides to animate my first puppet and I'm super excited to make puppets! But I just keep running into issues that the video makers just plain don't have or talk about whatsoever. First off, is there a community where I can ask real-time specific questions? Googling "Character Animator help with _" is growing tiresome and overwhelming because I'm not finding my specific issues. I don't want to burn out and give up, but I need better support... Second, lip sync doesn't seem to be working for me correctly. I have all of my mouth shapes assigned, but it seems like lip sync isn't understanding my mouth when I talk. I'll make an obvious "O" mouth and it'll give something completely different or just stay at neutral. I've played with some of the settings, but I just can't get it right. My mic is great, I've got a sennhesier h
Hi,I have a character that I made in AI. It has a long white medical coat that is worn open. So the coat is attached to the upper body (otherwise it falls down) and with an independent motion, I can give it some sway. I devided it to left and right side even (since it is open) and even have a small back panel to see it throught the legs (also attached to the body. When the character does even the simplet motions, the legs appear to "clip" though the side of the coat. (as if I had a waist high slit up both sides of the coat) What is happening is that the leg are one layer behind the coat front and in front of the coat back. (They are also attached to the body.) The dont relate to each other at all, excep they are attached to the body.I want the coat to somehow attach also to the leg and not just the upper torso. Is there a way to attach an item to 2 seperate layers ?( or objects.) I've tried cammoflauging the lateral parts of the upper legs, making the le
Hi all, I have a puppet that was rigged by a third party and it has several motions that are only available via a keyboard trigger - eg. press X for a smile. Is there any way to connect them to face recognition and body recognition - I have a thumbs up and a few other arm motions I'd like to use with visual recognition rather than having to go back through and edit to insert them in. How can I do this? Thanks so much for your help!
I have a character I created a few weeks ago and created some triggers for.Today I've been updating it a little, adding some more triggers, however, I've noticed that once the triggers are in a timeline, the new ones do not play unless you start the animation roughly 5 seconds away from the start of the trigger. On the other hand, the old triggers play perfectly fine when playing right from their start points. This seems quite odd, and is quite a drain on time when I just need to check a section of animation but have to repetedly go further back and watch unnecessary sections just for the trigger to work.I've tried removing all the triggers from the timeline and starting again, but regardless, the old triggers still play perfectly fine, while the new ones need that additional 'run up' in order to play them.I'm using the latest stable version (and I've also tested it on the new Beta version), on Windows 11.Happy to share the file with support if that helps.
Buenos días: Necesito una formación en esta aplicación para crear personajes animados sobrepuestos en video manuales de formación. ¿Alguien conoce algún sitio? Muchas gracias
I've been having issues today with Character Animator—I keep getting the pop-up, "Assertion Failure, Do you want to Debug? AI Core Exception. Yes or NO?" I don't know what this pop-up means, and whether I choose "yes" or "no," neither option seems to make a difference. If I say "no," it will let me continue to work in Character Animator, but then when I try to import into After Effects to export with an alpha it crashes After Effects. I also tried to import the Character Animator Scene into Media Encoder to export it with an alpha from there but the encode just hangs there and never begins. I thought it might be a corrupt Character Animator project so I started over fresh but as soon as I started to import artwork into a new project it gave me the same pop-up, "Assertion Failure, Do you want to Debug." I feel like I'm in the worst M.C. Escher lithograph ever made. I've restarted the computer, uninstalled Character Animator and After Effects, and nothing seems to help. &
I would expect a program like this to have such a function. For example, if I move the right arm in the first recording, I expect it to show up when recording over to animate the left arm. Right now, it's just guesswork on when I moved the right arm, which is wasting a lot of time trying to sync up the two arms to have precise timing. Am I missing this feature, or is Character Animator missing some of the more obvious features that should already be implemented in the program?
It's been snappy and unusable for over a year now. One of your employees commented that he'll let the adobe team know about the bug on a post last year. It's still the same. Fix your product adobe.
I just want to add a simple eye movement to the left with my pre-recorded voice over. How do I add this to an existing timeline recording?

I am home-office today and i have this huge delivery. So i gathered media and uploaded the Ch. Anim project onto drive, then downloaded on my home PC, all is right, except the animation tracks that don't seem to have any way of re-path. I tried editing the projectdata.rope file but it just corrupted everything. How can i update the path to these .arf files?
Hi all, Does anyone have any idea why my character would be slowly rotating? It's like it's drunk and the character slowly leans over. I've tried all sorts but I'm not an expert on this, unfortunately! Thanks,Drew
I'm learning the animation library, and having success (I'd love a tutorial some time about how the location of tags effect animations), but I'm trying to get them to look better. Specifically, I want to adjust the bend of the toes in the Walk 2 motion library animation. And I'd like to animate the feet to stay flat on the ground. Basically, I want to edit the location or rotation on certain elements at certain times, like one would do in After Effects. I've tried adding transform behaviors to my toes. This works for my arms and legs since they are independent, but when I add a transfor behavior to the toes, they are suddenly pinned and my rigging no longer works as expected. Is there a way to animate specific parts of a motion library animation? Perhaps it's obvious and I'm being daft. Note that I have already played with all the settings in the Motion Library, and bending the toes seems like something I'd have to customize.
Hi guys, I have a laptop connected to a bigger screen. So it's tedious to use the webcam on the laptop and stuff.Any chance I can choose or use my phone as a webcam? I tried few things, but Character animator wont allow me to choose a different one.Thank you.
