Everytime I update my Illustrator files (the same way I did in beta 5) CH now errors out completely."Internal error code: (1033274218:1293+1)attempt to index a nil value"I have found that opening and closing multiple times will bring the project back, but all data created in CH will be erased. I have now fixed my complicated puppet 3 times and took hours of work to redo each time. I have been working on this puppet for months so I'm really not happy about this.I'm a super fan of CH and have made some very impressively complex characters, but all the issues have forced me to consider giving up. I can't trust it at this point in its current state. I'm beyond frustrated with all the issues. It also seems like the only software that my pc can't handle. Every process takes forever (sometimes 15 mins) and my pc should be very capable. i7 quadcore 3.5ghz, 16 gb ramPlease understand that I'm hoping to continue working with CH, but CH doesn't seem to want to work for me. Please help.

I have a feeling that I may have messed up the Character Animator file system. I built a puppet in Illustrator and did a whole video with it, but ever since I reorganized my Mac, all of my CA files including samples (Freda) do not work. The image below is what I see. It even happens with the old scenes I had previously created.Just to prove that this did work before, here is a demo video I shot for my marketing team (just funny, not super professional): Bohemian Rhapsody - Adobe Character Animator on Vimeo
I'm having trouble getting the face for this character to attach to the body. This just happened when I added the walk behavior. It's a different setup so the "head" is really the body itself. I've tried turning "warp independently" on and off, adding anchor points, etc. It may be in my layer structure, but I'm just not finding the right options. Any help would be great!!Puppet file: Steve-template.puppet - Google Drive
When I press A for Angry Eyebrow, the normal eyebrow is still there. What step did I leave out?
Hey guys,I have my character rigged so that the arms usually bend inwards. However, sometimes I need them to bend outwards to do certain gestures so I rigged a replacement arm (when I press 'g') to do this. See the second half of this video for how weird it looks when I accidentally do a gesture which causes the elbow to go inwards. Is there a way I can control how much movement the elbow has? I've tried adding a dangle point and setting gravity to go to the left etc, but the elbow still keeps going the wrong way meaning I need to start again! Dropbox - Ch gesture q.mp4
I tried to move some visemes in the timeline to tweak my lip sync. They won't move and I can't swap them out for other mouths.
Hey all, I run a small youtube channel where I use Character Animator to create an animated character as a facecam for let's plays, everything has been going smoothly and people seem to love the animation. My question is about rendering times, over the last few months I've been able to optimize my workflow by decreasing the scene size (from 1920x1080 to 854x480) and by exporting at lower bitrates. Since the facecam takes up so little of the screen I don't need it to be very detailed. However exporting is still my most rate limiting step. A 15 minute scene can take over two hours to render and at two videos a day this is extremely time consuming. Are there any other tips or tricks from the community to get exporting to move a little faster? If there is any additional information you need to help out, please do not hesitate to ask. Thanks for your time!

If you cannot play or record in a scene, check the following:Open the application's preferences, and check in the Audio Hardware pane to make sure the Default Input and Default Output settings are as expected (i.e., not set to No Input). If you previously connected to the machine via remote desktop connection (especially if you set Remote Audio to Play on this computer), restart the application.
i know that the arms have to be independent in order for the hinge and staple functions to work properly. But now I can't scale my character as a whole. Is there a work around for this, so I can still bend my characters arms properky, but have him scale with the rest of the character?
New and changed featuresProjects and the Project panelNew Scene and New Folder buttons in the lower-left corner of the Project panel.Double-clicking in an empty area of the Project panel now opens the Import dialog box, similar to other Adobe applications.Importing a previously exported puppet (as of this current build) with shared groups now places the shared parts in a “<puppet-name> shareables” folder.Added a Rename command to the context menu for an item, to make it more obvious that an item can be renamed.Reduced the project folder size by consolidating the numerous files in the Ch Data/repo.noindex folder. This should make the project folder faster to copy, archive, and unarchive.ScenesOption-/Alt-clicking the Add to New Scene button when multiple project items are selected will add each item to its own new scene.Puppets and the Puppet panelAuto option in the Attach To dropdownlist, to automatically attach an independent group to its parent group. Also how does one size/position the puppet in the 'record' pane/mode?Program keyboard to respond tp --selection, hand, zoom, handle tool, pin tool, stick . etc--
My eyebrows are animating fine on the 'Frontal' view but not moving up and down on the 'Left quarter' and 'Right quarter' views. There are alternate angry/worried states but the parent group of each is def tagged as 'eyebrow'.Can you think of anything I might have missed or a reason they might be remaining static?
hi everybody,i am new to aca and i am working on my first chraracter.it seems that everything works pretty good (for the first time) but the walk cycle does not.i do not realy know what i do wrong...i followed some tutorials and looked at the maddy psd file and puppet file.i have different views, frontal, right quarter and left quarter. when i turn off the layer for frontal and left quarter viewand then go to the record tap and press the right arrow key the chracter walks...but only on the same place.if i leave the fontal layer on and deactivate the other layers(as it is in the maddy example) the walkcycle does not work at all.i also recognize that the left quarter walk does not work either.do i need to setup left and right arrow keys or does the walk behavior that automaticaly.any help or hint would be fine, i put a link to the .puppet file of my character.thanks a lothttps://adobe.ly/2wm2UbD
Hi Everyone,I hope its not just me who things this would be cool. I love that Fuse can export characters to Photoshop. It would really be amazing for it to export to Character Animator as well. This would open up a world of possabilities. ThanksGem
Hello guys. Would someone be so kind to help me out. I'm stuck. I did all the same for both hands but somehow the left one moving great. Unlike the right one. (ptscr are attached)Maybe the issue is in the precise position of sticks and dragger? But I can't find this position for the second hand. Will be thankful for any of your ideas? Hi. I'm producing a Lynda.com course on using CA in production. Can someone contact me about the release schedule of V01 and if I could get early access to it. We're supposed to start production on the course next week.Thanks.Mark Simonmarksimonbooks@yahoo.com
In my project, the head is moving with the camera across the screen, while still connected to the body, making a very long neck. There is a head turner behaviour which works, but I would like the head to just turn on it's axis, not to the side of the screen. If I add a Fixed Pin, it just distorts the head and stretches from that individual point. Is there a way to make the head fixed, without pinning ?Here is a Youtube link to what I am talking about:Character Animator Head Distortion - YouTube
Most of the animation was done in Character Animator and After Effects. I'd love to have some meaningful feedback and discuss techniques a bit with those who are interested. If there's a better place in the forums to show things off and get feedback, let me know (if there isn't, I think there should be).Marshmallow Stew on Vimeo Thanks,Chet
Hi there,I was wondering if there is a way to stop the tail of a take layer from automatically moving the head of another take layer? Currently if I have 2x 30 sec takes for head turner, I want to be able to trim the first take from 0-10 and the second take from 20-30 but CH won't allow this. I have to manually drag take 2 out of range of take 1 and then drag back to break the relationship. Is there an easier way to turn off this behavior? I get why it would be handy, but much like FCPX's magnetic timeline, it can also impede productivity when a user need to target specific segments of each take. Thanks!David
This is newbie for the character animator..The movement of my puppet is should be walking and then stop and turn around. However, I try to using the scale x to make my puppet reverse, the reverse is making the whole puppet mirrored also with the walking movement. How do I make it just look like turning around? Hope anyone can help this newbie, thankssss!
Hello guys. It has to be smthng obvious but I cannot figure it out. I have a character standing with arms down. When I want to wave his hand and say Hi the wrist/hand has to flip horizontally when the arm is up. But it is not changing automatically. Changing atttach style for arm doesn't change it either.Maybe the solution doesn't exist still in the last version of the program? Can you advice me what to do?Thanks a lot for help.
Hey, I need help in character movement as my character is not holding a file or her movement of hands is not changing much as I've drawn the left & right view of character too!![Moved out of the (mostly) defunct Animation tips and tricks forum and into the Character Animator forum by a moderator.]
