HiAfter duplicating a puppet is it safe to delete the temp.noindex folder of the duplicated puppet to reduce the project file size? Thanks
I'm new to character animate and made a puppet but the puppet doesn't stay put. Whenever I move the puppet follows my tracking and starts to float so im wondering how to keep the puppet in one place.
I am using the Hunter puppet from Puppet Maker. When the puppet is stopped, or walking via Motion Library, she stands straight up and down.Note perfect left legs while just standing still (in Stop mode):When the video is playing, she rotates counter-clockwise by about 5 degrees (or her legs lean back).Note legs are either rotating or leaning back from waist down (in Play mode):Is there anything I can do to keep her vertical while just standing there?Using Fixed pins on Left Quarter or Torso didn't help.Thank you!
My puppet's left eyebrow rotates and eyes go weird when in play mode, but all looks fine if I click Stop. After the first 15 seconds of playing, the face behaves as it should the rest of the video. Both eyebrows are set up as independent (Crown) in Rig mode. The lighting was the same for all recording with the laptop's camera.I followed the instructions on Okay Samurai's Limb IK video to create a secondary Face behavior under the Head group. Then at the Puppet layer, renamed the original Face group to Body (except there was already a Body behavior there, since Body/Limb IK/Motion Library all need to be enabled). So I named it Body 2.Any ideas how to fix it?Thanks!
I have a character with 50+ costumes, props, and more, and I have to create separate Ai files to ensure that performance stays high and that extra artwork does not interfere with the rigging. It would be great to have an option where Ch would not import layers hidden in the Ai file, or you could select layers to be ignored when importing the Ai file.Essentially, Ch would create its own working Ai file that it would render, pulling in only the assets I tell it to. This would make things much easier to manage, eliminating the need for having multiple Ai files and Ch projects for the same character.
I have received feedback to upgrade a puppet's attire (from casual to formal) in a scene that I have 100% completed. (Using a puppet from Puppet Maker.)Using the same puppet with different attire, is there any quick way to swap the puppet and retain all the lip sync and behavior tracks I already have in place? Thanks in advance. (Keeping fingers crossed.)
The jaw of my seal works well with the mouth, but the neck and body moves along with it. I don't mind the neck moving because I want to have a shadow underneath the jaw. I am also confused by the triangle geometry. I have experience with 3D modeling and it looks like there is not separate geometry for every part. Instead it looks like the puppet is just one set of modelling geometry. Is that the way it's supposed to be? This is my first puppet from scratch.
My CH png sequence is 6:37 seconds when I bring it into after effects it's 5:14 seconds. When I set the duration time under settings it just extends the time not the sequence. I'm not sure why this is happening. Also in.CH I'm working with 24 fps when I bring it over it's 30 fps I have to change it in settings. Is there a preset that I can use?
Hi I've got a puppet with the motion library "Weight Shift 2" animation on, and it is causing my puppet to shiftto the left and right a little. I've tried adding fixed pins to the leg layer at the feet which didn't work, and then also on the entire body layer for frontal but that didn't work either. This is how my puppet is set up: Thanks
I use a Shure Mono Microphone with a PreSonus 96 USB Audiobox. When I am in Character Animator and record, it only records to one side. When this happens in Adobe Audition, I can change the recording input to mono, and it works, but I can't seem to find anywhere in CH to change the default Stereo recording to record Mono. My internal microphone and USB microphone work as mono channels in CH just fine, but when I use my nice mic in the PreSonus USB Audiobox, it only records the left side. Nothing on the Presonus Audiobox Hardware allows you to change the stereo to mono. If I can make this simple change in Audition, why can't I make this simple change in CH? I would simply record into Audition and import into CH, but I want to be able to record straight into CH so I can also make character movements with my eyebrows and mouth while I record the audio. Any help would be great. Thank you
This is a bug. Please add a text header to the CHPROJ files -- or something to make them at least 1KB. These files just won't work with Dropbox and potentially other archive backup applications. Having to ZIP these is waste of time and not productive for team collaboration. Windows OS 11Version 23.1Saving a file always is 0 KThe expected result is a 1K file minimum!Views
This might be a stupid question because I am relatively new to Adobe. I'm working through some of the Character Animate tutorials (I'm specifically on Getting Started in Adobe Character Animator) and the tutorial says to click on the PS in the left control pannel under the puppet and scene project pannel. However, when I do this nothing happens. I've tried already having photoshop open after I click the button and I've also tried thye CTRL+E shortcut but still nothing happens. Not sure what I'm doing wrong. Help?
I am trying to use a customized Cowfolk puppet. He is 3/4 facing to his right. When he walks with Motion Library, his distant (right) leg comes over the top of his near (left) leg during the strides. When I click the Edit Original icon in the Project panel and open the puppet in Photoshop, the puppet doesn't have a right leg and a left leg. It just has "legs." So, I can't put the left leg above the right leg to correct the layering problem.Any recommendations on how I can fix this? Thanks in advance!
https://edex.adobe.com/professional-learning/instructor-led-course/5characteranimation18 Is from back when the teachers would come on at all sorts of hours to teach each part of each week. Since that's not how that works anymore, is there anyway to ask the contributors to make videos for the week. It's a simple wait to revive the course!
I can not see the recorded tracks under the record and play buttons. They are missing.I tried to do the reset "record" and I tried to restart the computer and reload the project and nothing helped. Does anyone knows how to get the default factory layout meaning:Project, triggers on the left,Tracks on the bottom middle and Puppet on top middle,Camera and Properties on the right? Thank you,Kayli
Hello! I have a task of creating videos with a character from a hundreds of audio files using built-in automatic lip animation tools. Is there a way to do it automatically? Essentially I need to:1. Load an audio file from a folder.2. Put it on the timeline.3. Animate character's lips and head movements using the newly added audio.4. Export video.5. Repeat for the next audio file. Would be happy to hear any suggestions on how it can be done!Thank you!
Hi All,When moving the character's face using the camera I've noticed the whole body moves too. Is there anyway the head can move on its own (side to side) without the body moving too and the body can just remain static? I've tried using this method with the face camera movement and I literally just want the head to move. Wondering if anyone could please assist. Thank you
I am trying to make The Professional puppet walk. I have watched 4 videos on how to do it (including Okay Samurai's videos on Limb IK and Walking). When I go from Rig mode to Record mode, the puppet is warped/distorted to look like a giant Z, but trying to walk while standing in the same location. When I go back into Rig mode, and I view the Rigging Issues panel, it provides false information. Here are some examples:Puppet: Limb IK: No layers or handles with required tags could be found.[False. ALL tags are clearly visible when you select the various independent body parts.]Puppet: Walk: Puppet is missing symmetry - found handle tagged as Left Elbow, but no other handle tagged as Right Elbow.[False. The right arm has a Right Elbow tag.]Left Leg: Handle tagged as Left Hip is not being used by any behaviors.[??? I added the Walk behavior, which does indeed use the Left Hip.]Left Quarter: Limb IK: Arm is missing a handle tagged as Right Wrist.[False. Right arm has a handle tagged as
Hello, I come to thee asking for help and assistance, my puppet is having a bit of a melt down. I have rigged the eyes to blink, the mouth and its cycle layers work perfectly. I just for the life of me, can't get the head and body to play fair. The head turns rotated and the body does the opposite direction. It's a simple puppet, so any help and advice would be great! I truly am at a loss.Thank you Adobe Gods ❤️
I would like to know if someone knows or have the idea on how to perform live streaming using Character Animator but using the Audio Output from Adobe Audition or other Audio Software.
Hi I'm doing a kind of slow motion head turn effect but each head layer that appears causes anything with dangle to jiggle which ruins the effect. Any ideas how to avoid it? I guess I could use opacity to bring each layer in but this feels like a cheap and hacky way, is there a better way? Thanks
I gotta say, some clearer instructions for file management for CH would be really great. I've been watching a lot of the tutorials and have not quite grasped this... can someone point me in the right direction? What exactly is the relationship between the CH document itself, the artwork files (Photoshop/Illustrator), and Puppet files? I usually pick this kind of stuff up quickly (been using Photoshop, Protools, etc for many years) and I've made some short test animations with CH. Say you've finish you character "Not Elmo" adn you import the PS document "Not_Elmo_v3psd" into CH. You rig it up, create and export a scene. Later you need to do some more work on the Not Elmo character, so you save new version of the PS doc as "Not_Elmo_v4.psd". How do you keep the rigging work you've done?Do you save a .puppet file? If so, how to you make a next version of PS file?Does one save "Not_Elmo_v5.puppet" in the same folder with "Not_Elmo_v5.psd" and... the CH doc?Why do
I've been working on a simple bird character. I used the basic blank template from the adobe site. I ordered the layers correctly (to my knowledge) but the arms(in this case wings but whatever) will not go in front of the body layer even if I moved the layers in front of the body. Any help on how to fix or what I am doing wrong?

I guess this goes under the improvements category. Any timeline on Ch being ready to go with macOS Ventura? Three and a half months since Ventura was released.
