Is there a way to purchase additional character animator templates? Thanks,Bill
Hello, I am working on a facial rig to be able to make eyebrow movements with the mouse. I managed to get them to go up and down individually and angle from their centered origin (with a hinge attachment). My issue is that I've add a third draggable handle to the mix to provide some minor bending at the inner brows if desired. I am able to get it to look right in the previewer, however once I record it plays as the opposite. I attempted to add a fourth handle towards the tail end of the brow and was successful in getting it to record properly - however in attempting to make good records it seems like I need to touch every single dragger on the eyebrow at every keyframe which makes consistency more tedious. Does anyone have any recommendations of what can be done better? (also yes my eyes are in their own layer, it had to do with making stuff draggable w/o camera input (before realizing the mouse input option can be used on my fully camera functional puppet).&
Hey guys!I am following Daves tutorial- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JL024_E1AUk&t=35,The problem I am having is that the character file is from 2019 and is out of date. When I go to save the Character from Illustrator, it pops up with a message "saving to a legacy format may cause some changes"; as soon as I click "okay", I go and check my Puppet in Character Animator and all of the pin tools and stick tools, as well as the Independant Layer Crown are gone! Is there a way to save it so these things don't disappear? Or should I just pause working on my own character and following the rigging tutorial and come back?I'm just worried that if I follow the rigging tutorial and save my project, it may reset again. Thanks
Hi, this is not my first puppet, but I am still a novice. I have a .ai puppet. I spent a couple days getting everything rigged and ready to go. But before I started recording, I thought the hand art looked a little off, so I went back into Illustrator and tweaked the finger positions a little. I DIDN'T CHANGE THE STRUCTURE, ANY LAYER NAMES, ETC. BUT when I went back into Character Animator, random layers were missing (an arm, a foot, part of a leg). They are still there in Rig mode, but they do not appear in Record mode. I tried going back into .ai and making other random tweaks to the artwork, and every once in a while different layers appear or disappear. It's really weird and annoying. Any ideas? I'm gonna keep trying stuff.
I've tried using sticks and making the table non-independent, but this glues the torso in place, and I'd like it to slide around. I've also tried pinning but to no avail. I see that the relationship between the origin and the origin of the parent (the top level puppet in this case) does make a difference, but I still can't find a placement that completely stops the table from warping.
Hi there, i am simply copy paste the existing character mouth and give it a new name (funny mouth) in PS as in the ss below: But after save and going back to CA, the character new mouth was used a same name as the copied one. How do i solve this? and let say it still a duplicate name, if i set different key for the trigger, do they still works?
We get frequent posts from users that cannot get the camera to work with Character Animator. I have my own set of troubleshooting tips, but I think it's far from comprehensive. Is there a HelpX topic for troubleshooting CH camera issues? If not, there should be. For the record, here are my tips: 1. Make sure that the camera is working in other apps. Check the drivers. 2. Close any other app that might be using a camrea, such as Zoom. 3. Open up the camera menu and make sure that your camera is selected. I could use some more tips.
How do I edit "Heather?" I do not see the photoshop or illustrator options. I am new.
I have created a puppet in character animator. The face is great and the puppet is fully functional. I have then needed to change its clothing and put a jacket and tie on it. So I take the puppet from Character Builder with that into PSD, copy and paste all of the clothing onto my puppet and when I bring back into Character Animator from photoshop, I get zero facial movement. I am using all of the original 'rigging' and I simply cannot fix it. I've attached my .psd file. Thanks! BP
I have several objects that I am dragging independently around the screen in my animation. Why is it that whichever one I have selected only appears in its original location rather than wherever it is for that particular frame of the timeline that I've recorded. Similarly, why is it that puppet reverts to default pose when I'm not playing timeline. I don't understand how to continue animating from a point further in my timeline if I can't see the object in its current position. To be clear - I'm not talking about the setting for "after move" where when I'm recording and stop dragging the pose either holds or returns to default. I mean that while recording I have dragged an object from screen center to upper right of screen. And when I playback it travels to upper right and stays there but the moment I stop actively playing the object I have selected pops back to its starting position (though when I go frame by frame in the scene window or play, it animates just as I have recorded
Hey everyone. Here is my Problem, maybe you have a better solution.I rig and record my character in Character Animator and then to finish the scene I want to work on in After Effects. Here it would be nice to have the position of the hands (which are moving). Is there a good way to do so? I guess there is no way to get the motion data or like a Null Object from Character Animator to After Effects. Or is there? My work around at the moment would be:Give my character a symbol of a "Tracker Point" in the Hand and then Track it in AE, but this is a lot of work and not always satisfying and precise enough... Is there a way to get "raw data" out of Character Animator to AE?Cheers Julian
I am working on a 20 minute long project, but keeps getting stuck everytime I open my PC to work. It takes hours before the puppets have fully loaded. Until them it just says: Media pending. Once it is fully incorporated into Premiere pro, I rendered the project and thought it would work moving forward. But turning on my computer today I have been waiting for a few hours now, and media is still pending.I am at a loss. Any suggestions as to what I am doing wrong?
https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/16uBUSBPNSQ6zlYmJKzab7Zr9GrCMFS5R?usp=sharing Me again... I hope you are not sick of me and my puppet. I have a puppet with different angles and the walk behavior. When this problem came up, i thought it's about the walking and limb ik behaviors being used at the same time so i came up with a new puppet with no walk behavior. I thought that i can work with two puppets to solve this problem but it didn't work. I've read every post and tried so many things. (If there is no problem, just try to move the feet a couple times more and you'll see, the frontal come up ok but the others are still sticking) Thank you in advance, you guys have no idea how you are helping me. This is basically how i make a living at the moment, i hope i can be better soon and bother you guys less with my issues.
But when I download it 23.0 (build 15) it's not there? Any idea what I am doing wrong? thanks
My pro account won't open in, it keep directing me to buy it and I did. I only have 7days to try it out 😢
This is my edited character in PS : After i saved and open in CA, it looks like this, may i know why it doesn't display correctly as in PS?
when I installed character animator, I wanted to make a custom puppet, but everything was locked, and this included things in edit, scene, etc, does anyone know how I could fix this?
I was customizing a character in Adobe Illustrator, and when I saved it, the whole body of the character is shown in the rigging panel, but in the record panel it is missing. How can I solve this?
Hello! I need to convert a puppet made in Illustrator to a Photoshop file. I know that if I had to convert a Photoshop puppet to an Illustrator puppet the problem would be trickier. But in my case, I'm pretty sure that this is completely possible. The main issue is that I want to keep the structure and the names of the Layers and Groups. It's super important not to lose the hidden layers and groups and to maintain the structure of those layers (example: different hand poses) and groups (example: the frames for mouths or eyelids). I've attached my current Illustrator structure in the file below. Any idea or suggestion is greatly appreciated. Thank you!
What is the most effective way to create slow motion in Adobe Character Animator. (i.e. you want to show a close-up of a character slowly reacting to something) Can you do that within ACA? Can you create multiple framed versions of sequences that you can slow down outside of ACA? Something else?
Does anyone know why suddenly the "start new project" is grayed out once I connected a webcam? Thanks for any answers you can provide
Hi All, Hope everyone is well. I just revisted a project I was doing, where the puppet's mouth appears and then doesn't appear when talking. Never happened before and not sure what's going on, can someone please assist. I've checked the Rig and all seems well, its just on the scene page my puppet's mouth is not there. Thank you,
Hi there, I'm trying to make a copy of the Alien puppet maker puppet with a walk cycle (and related puppets e.g. Kiddos, Seafolk etc.). The left arm is not inside the body because of the replays that go over top of the head, so I had to move it inside the body layer. I've added the walk behavior to the Puppet sublayer since this comes with icons and backgrounds, so adding it to the very top-level puppet doesn't work. When I do this and add walk to the head layer as well, the walk behavior picks up the handles, except the neck which is on the head. When I remove the walk behavior from the head layer, it can't find any of the handles. I've added a video showing what's happening and here is a link to the puppet file. Any help greatly appreciated--I have the 48-hour film comp this weekend (12-14 Aug) so hoping to figure out whether I can use this puppet or not 😬. Thanks!
I don't know where I keep messing up. I am using wag the Kat as a puppet but I would like to see more mouth movement. I tried calibrating, I tried lip syncing, but it's not working. Any recommendations?
