You might want to consider converting your websites from Dreamweaver to WordPress. I was having too many issues with P7 code and resulting DW site structure, including slow load and content layout shift, my SEO was low, low, low, so I decided to begin converting my Dreamweaver site to WordPress. The conversion from DW to WP seems manageable but not easy. In a nutshell: copy existing page content into empty WordPress page, then style it. There are many steps required to make this happen. I'm new at this, learning slowly, so don't look to me for expert answers -- ask AI, like I've been doing. But here is a summary of my workflow so farThis transfer needs to be done as a "manual" build, not some magical bulk import of existing DW pages as they are. Because of the non-compatible P7 coding, the first step is stripping out all that coding from your pages and produce simple HTML versions of the page content, which can include basic paragraph structure and H1,H2-type headings. Remove all
I'm normally running inView🞃 Split… ✓Code-Live I've used MS PowerToys Keyboard Manager feature to remap the F1-F12 keys to various Unicode characters (and one string) frequently employed. Some of these are Unicode BMP characters (U+0000 to U+FFFF) range, such as:⇩ U+21E9 DOWNWARDS WHITE ARROWThese work everywhere I've used them. About half of them, however, are from the Unicode SMP range (U+10000 and up), such as:🔎 U+1F50E RIGHT-POINTING MAGNIFYING GLASSThese work in all other apps, but can crash DW, when:☐ entered via the remapped Fₙ keypress☐ but only in the DW Code View window. When typed into Code View, DW freezes, thinks about it for several seconds, and then crashes, throwing a Sorry, an error occurred dialog. I can repeat this reliably via New HTML document, where merely trying to type:‹p›🔎‹/p›in the ‹Body› content. The Error report details curiously includes:‹crash exception="EXCEPTION_UNKNOWN" exceptionCode="0xe06d7363" instruction="0x00007FF
"Sorry, unable to complete the action you requested." ========= Adobe is migrating these user-to-user communities to a new platform. Completion is expected some time in mid-January. Until then, expect the unexpected. 😛 In the meantime, if your post times out & you see the message above, copy what you've typed so far and hit F5 to refresh your screen. Hopefully, things here won't get much worse. 🤞
Dreamweaver non stampa il codice solo pagine bianche.Vorrei sapere come risolvere
Some setting has changed in the last few days. The Split view does not show live edits made in code. I need to save the file first. Is there a way to reset default split view settings?
Why have these been removed from my Dreamweavers
Hello, How do I move the green-outlined text element down, WITHOUT including the container (grey background)? I've tried adding the margin-top: 3% selector, but it affects both declorations. I included much of the css content on the right-half of the affected text. Matthew
The info on the web page is perfect but I cannot see the text in Dreamweaver. I have a couple of pages in one site doing this which stareted about 3 months ago.
I'm using Dreamweaver 2021, MacBook Pro 12.7.6, macOS Monterey. Yesterday, I uploaded a full website to DreamHost. No problems. Here's the site: wheelerblockpress.com. Today, I haven't been able to upload the site.css file at all. It uploads without error messages but I don't see the changes online, only on the local test browsers. For example, I made changes and checked with Dreamweaver's Safari and Chrome test features and the changes were made. I looked on line and no changes. I contacted DreamHost and they showed me screenshots of the test changes as I made them. This is a very strange problem and I'm totally stumped after 11 hours trying to figure it out.
Trying to change font: 100% to font:150% The 150% is declared in the actual page as an internal style within a media query. So why does the rule in the body supersede the internal style? https://higgsy.com/newroot/france/france.html If I open developer tools and then reduce the size of the browser down to iphone size then my media style appears in the developer tools – I then, in Devolper Tools, untick the superseding rule in the body statement, (turning it off temporarily) then my font statement in my media query can be seen to become active and the we can see the font change in the browser Also I note ALL the rules in that media query are greyed out all comments appreciated...
Every time I click out of Dreamweaver, to check grammar in Word, or to F5 the offline browser of the page, or even to clean content code with a notepad, Dreamweaver crashes, and the spinning wheel pops up over a greyed out screen. It only lasts for a few seconds, but it happens EVERY TIME. I have tried cleaning out the cache and the preferences and settings. I have removed the app and reinstalled. Furthermore, I have run system cleaners like IOBIT Advanced System Care 19 Pro to clean out the system cache. I have also gone back a few generations of the app, but the issue persists.
I'm using Dreamwever the the Mac. The properties window has suddenly stopped working. Whenever I highlight something in the html file, it goes blank. I've reinstalled the app. I've reset the workspace. No matter what I do, the properties window goes blank every time.
Anyone elses Dreamweaver freeze every time they open it?
Spell check is a Design view feature only as far as I know. Tools > Spell check is greyed out in Live view. But when editing text in Live view, misspelled words are flagged with no options to ignore or replace. I work with several languages, so this is a major annoyance. I have tried resetting the preferences, and even an uninstall/reinstall. I tried renaming the Linguistics folder in C:\\Program Files\\Adobe\\Adobe Dreamweaver 2021\\ in the hope that this would disable spell check altogether, but it made no difference. This leads me to believe that this might be a Windows issue, but the Windows setting Highlight misspelled words is turned off. Also, the same words seem to get flagged no matter what language is set in Dw's preferences > Spelling dictionary. Dw 21.6, Windows 11 Pro 25 H2. I also have a Windows 10 computer with the same version of Dw, where this doesn't happen.
Not sure what the cause is but my site header displays correctly on the Home page as below: But on subpages appears like this: The coding looks the same on both separate pages, wondering why it shows up more indented on subpages?
iMac Ventura 13.2Dreamweaver C.C.Bootstrap 4.4.1 Hi folks, I currently have my web rows set to . . . class="col-lg-4"> I have 4 fluid columns which reduce in size as the site narrows but when they reach a "mid point" they break from 4 columns to 1 column. Is it a relatively easy fix to get things to go from 4 columns to 2 columns to 1 column instead of jumping from 4 to 1 ? I'm not really very technically minded so hopefully this is not beyond my understanding Any advice and assistance greatly appreciated. Kind regards, Garry.
Today is not a good day to get work done. 😝
What are other people using instead of Adobe Dreamweaver? My 2021 program has messages that popup saying it is using insecure code. Addtionally, I have been using it for many years and recently it has not been putting photos in Tables, that it had no problem doing a year ago. Is Adobe ever going to update Dreamweaver. I create my own websites and use Dreamweaver to create content. Is there a more modern program that is as easy to use as Dreamweaver?
I’m really stuck here. I’m trying to add my live WordPress site lewisestimating.com to Dreamweaver so I can edit files directly, but nothing seems to work. I set up the local site folder and tried connecting via FTP, but…Dreamweaver isn’t showing my WordPress files properly.Opening PHP files sometimes just gives me errors or blank pages.I have no idea if I’m supposed to work directly in the WordPress folder or download everything first. And some CSS changes don’t even show up when I preview.Honestly, I’m feeling a bit lost. Has anyone done this before? How do you get a live WordPress site into Dreamweaver without breaking everything?Really appreciate any guidance, thanks!
Hello, After replacing my desktop with a new machine, due to a recent crash, I worked with my host unsuccessfully for hours to regain my ability to edit my DW site, matthewjablonski.com. In the past, if any revisions were made, I would be prompted before publication - it worked great. Now, no matter what, I get a window, saying that no edits were made. Shown on the screen shot, below, halfway down, I've added an h2 tag, showing the text, "TEST 1," in the html area. On my right-hand side, I included the published site showing it in visual form. Notice that the "TEST 1" is not present, anywhere, but I would assume it would probably be somewhere under the "COLOR on the Rails" text, if it had worked correctly. On the bottom left-hand side, I included DW's window, after I tried to publish the page. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Matthew
I am using 21.6 Build 15711 and want to start using var() but when i add::root {--aa-blue: #0078D2;--aa-digital-blue: #E1F0FA;--aa-light-blue: #4DB4FA;--aa-dark-blue: #00467F; --lite-blue: #BDDEF4; --aa-gray: #9DA6AB;--aa-digital-gray: #EEEEEE;--aa-light-gray: #D0DAE0;--aa-dark-gray: #36495A; --aa-white: #FFFFFF;--aa-black: #131313;--aa-red: #C30019;--dark-brown: #3D2B1F;--red: #FF0000;--30-percent-aa-blue: rgba(0, 120, 210, .3);}I get all sorts of validation errors. AI said to update my CSS Validator but am not finding a way to do that.Mike
The screenshot is from main.less file, where I have managed to customize the column with the row numbers, editing those two default values. However I need one more fine-touch: As you can see, the code is too close to the right-border of the column. Is there a way to add a 2-3px gap in between? Thanks
For many years, Adobe Dreamweaver was a reference point for web designers and front-end developers. It successfully combined visual (WYSIWYG) and code editing, offering support for HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and server-side connections—all within the Adobe ecosystem. However, in recent years, Dreamweaver has shown signs of stagnation, receiving only minor updates and maintenance patches.Adobe’s “What’s New” page shows that the August 2025 (21.6) release only included bug fixes and library updates, with no major new features.User communities have long noted that “the last significant update was years ago” and that Adobe is no longer adding major innovations—just OS compatibility, security fixes, and minor dependency updates.A TechRadar review recently summarized: “It would be easier to recommend Dreamweaver if it weren’t for the lack of meaningful updates in recent years.”This means that if you’re looking for a tool that keeps pace with modern web technologies—frameworks, integrated workflow
