I'm a hobbyist who enjoys travelling and taking photos. I have a habit of taking more than one photo at a location where there are lots of people milling around. My idea is for LR/PS to use the backgrounds from selected photos (from the same viewpoint) to fill in areas where people are and thus remove them. The AI tools to remove people are already pretty good, but I think it would be fantastic if you could use several photos (similar to HDR processing) to fully recreate backgrounds that may be hidden in some photos but visible in others. I see the process as similar to HDR but instead of selecting "HDR" or "Panorama" there would be another option to remove people. Who knows where this could lead. It would be like AI analysing a scene from several photos instead of just the single one as is now to remove distractions.
Provide either a prompt (upon the first type of change) and/or a status indication in the Develop module that your changes are affecting multiple photos. There has been countless times, where I have inadvertently, accidentally thought I was doing changes to one photo, when in fact multiple photos were selected and thus were affected by the changes.s
in lighroom classic it turns out to be possible to select a different printer in the "page setup" vs. the "printer settings". and strangely enough, this does allow printing. but it can cause very unexpected errors, that are very difficult to track - in my case, i couldn't select the correct setting for the correct paper feed, because the two printers (Espon 3880 and R3000) have slightly different settings, which in most cases work fine but in some cases don't work. and all error messages only hint at wrong paper feed, but not at the fact that within lightroom two different printers are selected. a simple solution to this would be a simple warning, that there are different printers selected in "page setup" and in "printer setup".
Hi guys, Instead of using AI to turn horses into zebras, and the like, what would be really helpful is using it to minimize my editing time doing menial tasks. If I've gone to the trouble of separating 20 different subjects from a single shoot into named collections: e.g.: "John_Smith, etc." - it would be great if I could hit a button , fill out the root of the web gallery for my ftp site once (http://www.galleries.photographername.com/20240131_CompanyABC_", then point it to all 20 collections at once and have it upload individual web galleries for each person in automated fashion. Right now I am sitting here doing these one at a time and it is a giant time suck. This would be a great feature.
WE need to have the feature addon where we can save the workspace like we have inside photoshop.
Fujifilm's newer cameras have a 40MP sensor and offer in camera crop (or "digital tele converter") in Fuji-Speak, which I use a lot as a commercial event photographer. However, Lightroom (Classic) does not recognize this. It does it for other cameras (Leica Q, Hasselblad 100C) and it would help tremendously, when Fujifilm cameras would be supported as well. Only newer cameras have this feature. Thank you.
Please change catalog upgrade to rename current catalog with prefix "old" and allow the new catalog to keep the original name. Instead of creating a new catalog and adding a version prefix, ex: changing photography catalog v13 to photography catalog v13-3. Rename current catalog to "photography catalog v13-old and keep original name photography catalog v13.
I have a large library (over 300,000 photos) and my Lightroom catalog folder is over 160GB. This is important for me to backup, but the current process changes the name of the catalog and folders. Once changed, my backup process deletes hundreds of thousands of "old" preview files, and then copies those exact same files back to the target. This is unnecessarily complex, time consuming, and tedious--Lightroom can ensure the catalog name is the same when it completes the upgrade process. Consider those (like myself) that are sending this data offsite for backup--the cost savings, time savings, and bandwidth savings make this change necessary. I am currently performing these steps manually by renaming the catalog file and supporting folders before opening the new Lightroom version, but Lightroom could do that automatically for me without too much extra work. To help the average user, most of the people I teach Lightroom, or help with their workflow don't even know where
I merge my DNG photos and Denoise is not available, please can you add it? It would be a major help. Thank you.
After having applied Denoise, I would like the numerical value of the level that was applied to be available somewhere for my own reference. It should either be available in Lightroom when you open the file (show the slider, even if it's greyed out) or it should be in the data for the Enchanced-NR.dng file that is created.
Recently, a folder titled "LrClassicLogs" has appeared in my Documents folder on my Mac. I use my Documents folder for personal documents only, and would like to store the LrClassicLogs file in a less-obtrusive location. Can a feature be added to LR Classic to allow for a user-selectable location (similar to how LR classic allows for the catalog file)?
I would like the histogram gridlines (present in earlier versions) to be brought back. The current histogram is a step backwards in terms of usability. Gridlines allow us to visualise in a clear manner where the channel values are placed, so that we are able to ensure consistency between photos. (Refer to the image below, ignore the red circles.)
Running out of cloud storage when on the 20 GB plan is a common problem for my students who do most of their work in Lightroom Classic. The most common recommendations to solve this in the Adobe Community and elsewhere are: Upgrade to the 1 TB plan. That more than doubles the cost of the subscription, and most of my students aren't willing to do that. Delete photos from the cloud as soon as they are synced. In my experience, very few Lightroom users remember to do this. What's nice about syncing is that you don't have to pay attention to it. Removing photos from All Synced Photos works to remove the photos from cloud storage while retaining them in local disk storage but in doing so, you will also remove them from any synced collections they are in. There is a workflow to avoid removing from synced collections but it is complicated and if done incorrectly can have serious consequences: Select each synced collection (must be done one at a
A very niche request at this point in time (more than 20 years after the release of one of these cameras) but I'd love to see Raw Details & Denoise come to the Raw files produced by the Fuji S3 and S5 pro cameras. These cameras have spectacular sensors with wild dynamic range (even by todays standards) but the one thing they lack is resolution. While "Super Resolution" is available for these files, I find Raw Details & Denoise create more percieved detail in my images. Thus I would be overjoyed if there was a way to make this happen for the few of us still putting these old treasures to use! Thanks!
Hello every one, Would it be possible to add an intermediate setting option between 8-bits/component and 16-bits/componente in JXL export options? Something like 12-bits/component (and/or 14-bits/component)? Because 16-bits/component is overkill (with RAW files initially in 12 or 14-bits/component) and generate much bigger files in lossless option (and even in lossy 100% quality setting) and 8-bits/component loses a part of the color spectrum. These options could lead to a better compromise between quality, absence of data loss and the final size of the exported files. Thank you.
Would love to be able to assign custom keyboard shortcuts for custom brushes. It would save so much time instead of having to scroll through them all. 🙂
Anyone who uses keyboard shortcuts know how quick and efficent they are. One glaring omission is the lack of a way to select the "overwrite" option on export. I frequently have to go back and re-export something because of minor mistakes, tweaks, etc. Each time, I have to pick up the mouse to change from "use unique names" to overwrite. Apple typically allows tab through to other options, or the first letter of the command you want. I think it would be great to add the ability to either customize the dialog to overwrite as a default or at least make the O key work.
As you know there is no value added to saving a JPEG edited in PS, as a PSD, DNG or TIF . The information lost during original compression simply cannot be recovered. So there is no value added by saving a JPG edited in PS as anything other than a JPG, unless one wanted to preserve layers for future editing. When choosing to 'Edit in Photoshop' this is the dialog: When editing in virtually any other vendor's program, from Lightroom, this is the dialog: All the others allow you to choose JPEG, the Resolution, and the Color Space. Only Adobe fails to offer those 'Edit in' options. Consequently it becomes a pain in the posterior region to get PS edits back into the LR Catalog as JPEGS. If you use Ctrl -S in PS, a bloated and completely unnecessarys TIF file comes back into LR and to get a JPG it has to be EXPORTED as such from LR and brought into the LR Catalog. If you use the Save As dialog in PS and save it as a JPG IT DOES NOT COME BACK INTO LR. That is not a
What: In the Develop module, make the zoom slider available while masking. It's often desirable to be able to vary the amount of detail visible while masking. At present , howeever, it's only possible to toggle between two zoom settings while a mask is open. Since the zoom slider is not displayed, these two settings cannot be adjusted without closing out of masking. This can make for an unnecessarily awkward work flow. Benefit: Making the zoom slider available while masking would facilitate a smoother work flow by allowing users to adjust detail levels "on the fly" according to need. Given how central masking is, making it a more seamless process will likely enhance the overall user experience. (If there is already a way to display the zoom slider while masking, I don't know it and couldn't find it, so would appreciate someone enlightening me.)
I've seen a plugin that adds layers to LR which would save a lot of to-ing and fro-ing to Photoshop. The plugin is actually stand-alon, but also integrates with LR to some extent. It allows many of the layer options found in Photoshop. Not tried it but seems like a cracking idea! 🙂 Making LR more of an editor could make Photoshop redundant for pure photographic work
This is my first feature suggestion, and it comes as a user of my partners hardware/software (I only own CS6 and share their editor as a result, as an amateur.) Suggestion This suggestion pertains to the introduction of some sort of automatic correction for "non-flat" masks- or to put forward a simple use case, polarizer sky correction. This should be done with masks for the simple reason that this allows more flexibility, and could be added as an option under "Effects" as the new masks panel has beem revamped. Possible Method In the case of "polarizer sky" an easier solution would be something along the lines of using automatic gain control (AGC) with 2D windows on the image mask. This would run into issues where you have e.g. a very busy sky- hence it may be necessary to allow the user to not just state they want to eliminate polarizer sky, but be able to vary the windows used for the AGC (unless they want to knock out all the dynamic range in their sky
It would be great if I could crop images in Lightroom while using the Reference View. Right now, a user can edit an image in Lightroom in Reference View. This shows the image that will be edited, and an image reference next to the image that will be edited, so users can edit the photo to match their chosen reference. Once 'crop' is clicked, reference view disappears and is only crop-mode. It would be great if I could crop while still in Reference View, so I can match the angle and positioning of the reference photo. If I want my images to have the same positioning, I have to crop, then click back, crop, click back, crop, click back... having cropping inside reference view would make it a 1 step process to get images to look uniform.
CFexpress card (I can only check Type B) are not detected as (photo) devices like XQD and SD cards are. That results in those issues: Card is not be ejected automatically after import (to me, the worst thing) Add and Move can be used, where Add is a total no go, Move doesn't bother me personally Please don't blame the OS for this. Adobe can easily fix this by adding two lines of code checking if there is a DCIM folder in the root of the device or not. Of course that's only a workaround. But I'm pretty sure Adobe board has best contacts to Tim C®ook and this can be fixed in an instant teaming up with Apple, when blaming MacOS. I suppose Adobe will exactly do this, instead of working on a solution. Honestly, there isn't much difference between SD and CFexpress shown by Disk Utility of Monterey 12.4, viewing the info for the Sony MRW-G1 (can read/write XQD and CFexpress Type B) and SATECHI for the SD Card. In the attached screenshot, I checked the info for the devic
When doing panoramas of buildings, it tends to warp the building in a circular result. Similar to using a fish eye lens. The tools in the upright do not solve this problem. The guided tool really distorts the building even more. And when I am forced to take the picture from a low angle, there isn't a way to make it seem level. The best I have found is that using Auto and then doing the vertical slider does a medicore job.
