I am having an issue with displaying layer overlay, as I am working on a WIN10, PS CC machine, but I am based in Belgium (and using azerty keyboard) and therefor, I cannot reach the \ shortcut.  For me, that is ALT GR+<, which PS does not recognize.  It is driving me crazy! I have read articles and understand the menu shortcut is hidden (that is why I have just spent the last hour searching for it in vain, before I found this article).

I have also had to change "change brush size" in order to use my wacom intuos pro tablet some years ago (from "[" or "{" and "]" or "}" to "(" and ")". Does someone know how I can display the mask overlay (in ruby red, as Adobe calls it) for my machine?  Reading the above, I don't fancy changing my keyboard just for PS and having to change it afterwards every time, as I often switch between browsing, emails, PS and LR.

My question is thus : Make the backslash key for showing/hiding the mask overlay assignable to another key in Photoshop.

Unfortunately, that has no incidence on Lightroom classic shortcuts. Typing Alt + 92 within LRc just doesn't do anything.

Agree. This is ridiculous. Adobe should fix this.

Please, i am also using a AZERTY BE keyboard layout.

Can your team please look in to this situation?

It would really enhance the flow of many of us.

I really cannot understand, as a customer, there are many!! requests on about fixing this.

I see a lot people with different lmayouts having the same problem.

Please, please, Add just a button in the settings to assign some of these keys for our own layout.

I really do not understand wy this is not implemented.

I see posts dating from 2011!!! requesting this feature.

It is not normal that we have to use 'paid pluging's to fix this future on our own.

MANY thanks in advance, and best regards,

Andy

4 years and still no fix from Adobe...

I've found a fix too (on windows at least) i'd like to share. Use the free and official tool Microsoft Keyboard Layout Creator to remap any key you want to any character/symbol you want, regardless of your keyboard/language setup. I've done it for the unavailable ~ tilde shortcut and / shortcut, works like intended. And you can assigne your custumized layout to work only in Photoshop or other, so you can switch to your mail for example and have your normal layout.

Check this post for more explanation : https://community.adobe.com/t5/photoshop-ecosystem-discussions/workarounds-for-the-non-working-tilde-shortcut-on-non-us-keyboard-win/m-p/13694303
