I have a German book file in FM-2019 that should be converted to Responsive HTML output and we used special markers (CSHook_Help) to split the topics and the result should be HTML files named in English using the CSHook_Help markers, like the samples below:CSHSection_InterfaceOverviewCSHTitle_WorkstationVariationsCSHTitle_MonitorConfigurationsCSHTitle_IconExplanationsCSH1_CaseStatusIconsetc...I did a test and everything is perfect when I export the German book file using FM-12. So, the HTML files are named in English and the content are in German.However, if I open the same German book file in FM-2019 and export it to responsive HTML, the result will be HTML files named in German (instead of English). Source book has mix of letter and tabloid files.  Distiller is configured to tabloid as default.  Cannot make any entries in page size fields in the Publish Settings window, so they remain blank. Use Acrobat Distiller is Checked.  Using either Save As PDF or Publish feature:  PDF is produced all Letter size.  FM 2019/Distiller DC-all updates.  This all worked as expected in FM 12.  Thanks for suggestions to resolve.

I was on the phone with an Adobe technical rep for another issue not related to Frame Maker and he indicated that Frame Maker was going to be discontinued and not offer supported from Adobe...is that correct..?Message was edited by: Barbara Binder

How do we correct this alignment issue where long titles incorrectly wrap justified left on the second line.  The text should remain center of the page and not bleed into the chapter/page area or flush left area. See 6.10.4 below & 6.13.4 which has text in the chapter/page area.  Also why is Frame 2019 generating revision bars in my tocs?  Did not have this in Frame 2015.We would like it to auto format like this...

I have a chapter of a user manual that has information from two versions, version 9.2 and version 10.0. I created conditional tags for both 9.2 and 10.0 and applied them to the appropriate text. When everything was tagged, I hid the 9.2 conditional text and instead of just that text disappearing, the entire chapter disappeared. When I un-hid the 9.2 conditional text, everything returned. The 10.0 conditional text when hidden did not do this. So, I went back and created a "NEW_9.2" conditional tag and applied it to all of the old 9.2 text. After changing each page, I tested the show/hide conditional text function and after each page, only the NEW_9.2 text became hidden. When all pages had the old 9.2 conditional text changed to NEW_9.2, I saved the document. Then when I went to hide the NEW_9.2 text, the whole chapter disappeared again. Un-hiding the NEW_9.2 brings it back. This time, if I hide the 10.0 text, the entire chapter disappears as well. What is going on with this? Other condi

I just upgraded to Windows 10 and am having issues with my .sts files.  They once worked beautifully.  Now for some reason they are not carrying through with some of the saved settings, especially table settings.Regards,Ellen R. ZohilDatalogic

I'm sure there's a simple fix for this.  I just need a little help finding it.  I have a numbered list, with a sub-list. When the original list continues, the numbering doesn't.

I'm a new user and am having difficulty generating a review pdf. No issues generating a regular pdf, but this one is giving me grief. Have gone into the setup and made sure that the 'generate tagged pdf' is turned on. I am using Acrobat Pro, latest version.This is the error message I am getting:Any input is appreciated!

My anchored frames refuse to start exactly at the top of the page.I set all my anchored frames to Below Current Line, aligned Left.  The frame's anchor has to be on a row by itself, and it's this row that prevents the frame from being at the top of the page.My documents use side heads, so if I set the Anchoring Position to At Top of Column, then the anchored frame ignores the side head.  Sure, it's now at the top of the page, but I need it to respect my side head.   Any ideas?Thanks.

Hi groupI'm still not getting used to the (much too complicated) process of having to configure the PDF settings first in FrameMaker 2019 to be able to save my file as PDF. So I create a new Fm file and, from force of habit, I just choose File > Save as PDF. The process then starts and I just get to see a dialog with a progress indicator which says "Saving". But nothing else happens next and there seems to be no way to stop this process (pressing Esc, for example) other than doing CTRL+ALT+DEL and quitting FrameMaker. Or is there a way to stop this "Save as PDF" process? And is there really no other way to create PDF the good old quick & easy way? When I try to save my Framemaker file I get an error message "Framemaker can't write [name of file] to disk.The file is not locked, I'm not working on a network, there's plenty of disk space where I'm trying to save it.I was able to save that same file previously but after working on it for awhile, it refuses to save.I tried saving it with a new name, I tried saving to a different location on my computer, but still get the error message.It's a large file so I'm guessing that might be the problem.Does Framemaker have a file size limitation?Would there be some other reason for the error message?

Hi, I have a problem using the "Save as pdf" function in Adobe FM 2019 x64. When this function was used to save a book, the following error message was returned in the console window:Then I tried to troubleshoot the problem by checking if the Adobe PDF printer was created. It was not. I also found distiller was not installed together with FM. Although the installation file for distiller was included in the installation package, I could not install it separately. I have reinstall FM several times but still cannot fix the problem.What is the root cause for this problem? Could it be that I am using an old windows version?My OS info is shown as follows:  Windows 10 Enterprise Version 1511 (OS build 10586.1540)

I am trying to learn Structured FrameMaker. Is it possible/legal/safe to start two copies of FrameMaker on my PC at the same time? Specifically I want to have one copy open in Structured FM to experiment and the other copy in Unstructured to take notes on what I am learning. I am trying to see if I understand the concepts by writing up a tutorial but I do not want to be locked into structured mode when do not have a template which covers all of my needs ( I am still figuring them out) and I do not yet really understand what the structured templates do. Will the documents save by the rules of the window they are in? What other problems will/could I encounter? Thanks, Marjorie

Hi,I am getting TextItems out of an element using:     currentElem.GetText(Constants.FTF_ALL);I am then modifying the sdata for some of the items, and want to write this structure back into the element I got it from.If I just use doc.Clear then doc.AddText, I have to pass in a string, and thus lose all the markers, anchors etc in the TextItems.I can't find a documented way to pass in TextItems to a function, anyone got ideas/workarounds to preserve the non-string text items?Or a way to modify the TextItems on an object directly?Thanks in advance,Dan

The list of file names (Framemaker 19) suddenly changed to a very small font. Everything else is normal (POD font sizes, etc.). How do I change the list of files in the book listing back to normal?

It has been years since I've had to make a completely new cover-page layout, but the wind of change is blowing … I started from an existing cover, of course, and set up new styles for the first and second lines in the header. Results satisfying close to what I was aiming for.But then I switched from master-page view to body-page view, applying the same master-page I'd just finished: and the header doesn't appear! I really have no idea what's going on, and would welcome advice.By the way, Belgian holiday patterns mean I'll be out of office Thursday and Friday – so don't take it wrong if I don't reply to your input / solutions till Monday.

Hello,This is probably a fairly simple thing to do, but so far, I'm having trouble doing it. I'd like to create a hyperlink in my Frame document to an external PDF. I'm using FM 2019. I've tried using Insert > Hypertext but I'm not sure which command to use and also, how to reference the PDF to which I want to link. Thanks in advance.Bob

I have a table styling with a thick rule at the top, but as the thick rule is placed inside the cell, it makes the vertical spacing appear inconsistent e.g 'GBP row below has less space above than the other currencies, due to the thick rule taking up the space above. Please don't suggest making the first row a header row and adding extra padding to that styling, that would involve completely re-writing the source data.

Hi,In my powerpoint file I've implemented a macro that allows users to easily send feedback on a specific page. The macro creates and Outlook application email with all the details of the relevant page for which the feedback is being sent, and only requires users to key in their comments and send it.Is it also possible in a PDF file created by FrameMaker?

I'm trying to generate a book with different sized pages for each file. For some reason this is not working for me. I'm using two sizes. 8.5x11 and 17x11. Everything I try doesn't stop the cropping of 17x11 pages. Any help?

Hi, Just wondering if anyone has ran into this. We rely on the convert to table function in FM for large spreadsheets but dont use simpletable. As a result we have to do a bunch of post processing in the XML to convert the tables to the table format. Anyone have a workaround? I havent been ale to find anything in the documentation or other online resources. Thanks.
