FrameMaker

The book shows each chapter with a question mark and says files do not exist.  Trying to edit the existing book in FM17. 

Hi,FM2019, Windows 10, although I've had this problem for other OSs and FM versions. I'm just now trying to fix it. In a file converted from an older version of FM, I get a hash pattern for cell padding, where it did not exist previously:I can't figure out how to make it go away. Hi,I am creating a 2019 FM (all patched up) file using CMYK colors for print.In the mix, I have a single PNG with a transparent background. (I know it's RGB only, so will test the color shift). In the Publish pod, if Use Acrobat Distiller is selected, the transparent PNG background becomes white. If Use Distiller is not selected, the PNG's background remains transparent.Sean

Can I create in FrameMaker such a feature, for an ePub document? Preferably with embedded images (in a single ePub file).Basically I want in my main document a low-res small image that, when pressed, would show the high-res image in a different window. I've tried importing the object but the big image is just the same zoomed low-res image imported in document with a low dpi.Please help!Thank you!

From *my* usability perspective (YMMV), two things bother me about the Publish to PDF pod.1) Source document doesn't switch to the active document. So, I have document AA.fm open and publish it to PDF, but BB.pdf is created from BB.fm, because that's the file in the Source Document field and it must be manually changed, or so it seems.2) Output folder should default to the location of the source document. So, I select AA.fm as my source document and publish it to PDF, but I can't find the file because it published in the BB.fm folder, because I hadn't manually changed that. This annoyance is worse than item 1).3) Having to track a settings file is just bothering me. Best practice advice on this would be appreciated.Cheers,Sean

I'm having a lot of trouble gettig my HTML (FM2017) to display correctly on mobile phones. The content won't resize on a real phone vs. an emuiator. Are there other skins available somewhere?I haven't moved to 2019 because when I create a PDF, my images are black. I can't figure out why this happens.Any help would be appreciated it.Thanks!

Hello sir, My name is Finn Aune. I am a Norwegian, but I live in Thailand. I have used Framemaker for almost 2 decades. Today I purchased an upgrade from 2015+(or older) to 2019 release. I then downloaded and installed it on my laptop and initiated the licence number. All went fine. I then wanted to install the program on my personal desk top computer, which is the one I use for my daily work. When entering I was asked for the licence number. After entering the new licence number, I was told that the licence number was valid, but that I had to enter the licence number from my old product. I did so, from my verson 12. But nothing happens after that. Seems that this number will not be accepted. I paid a high price for the product (THB 25.295,-), from Adobe Store team (Singapore), which is my region. There were only two options when buying: Upgrade or full price. The price for upgrade was higher than I have seen in other advertisements, but I wanted to buy it anyway. How can you help me?

Hi,FrameMaker 2019, v15.0.1.430, installed with several previous versions.The File > Script > New Script command does nothing. I can run a script with File > Script > Run. If I launch the IDE with FM2015 and switch the target to FM2019, again I can run a script. Any ideas why I can't launch the toolkit with FM2019?Thanks,Russ

Yesterday I visit the Adobe Tech Comm Day and this morning I installed FM 2019. It looks great but I found a missing function:In an existing document I selected a graphic to change it with “File, Insert, File”. In all previous FM-versions the current graphic name is shown in the input field “File name”. In the 2019-version this field is empty. Why?

Hello.I recently inherited a library of FM books and I am using FM 2017; it is the first time I am using FM on a regular, in-depth basis.In one of the books, Table of Contents does not appear in the header on the table of contents pages, even though the Running H/F 10 variable appears in the header for the master pages used on these pages. When I manually define the Running H/F 10 variable as Table of Contents, that text appears fine in the header.Before I changed it, the Running H/F 10 variable definition was:<Default ¶ Font><$paratext[TOC_Title,AppendixHeadingRepeat,AppendixHeading 1,Heading 1]>Which I believe is consistent with the other books.As the Running H/F 10 variable is not used anywhere else, manually defining the variable with static text is an acceptable workaround with no negative consequences, as far as I can tell. Nonetheless, I am curious as to why this is happening and how to resolve it.Any advice would be appreciated.

I'm evaluating FM2019.The file C:\Program Files\Adobe\AdobeFrameMaker11\Structure\entfmts which is opened by FM when opening XML/DITA files contains the missing font Zapf Dingbat and an error is shown on the console.Why isn't Adobe removing this font or at least install it with FM?This font don't come with Windows 10.Related thread:default fonts in structured interface

I'm evaluating multiple versions of FM.When I want to assign an app to a file type (e.g. .fm), Windows will show me all 3 version of installed FM for file type .fm but display the same app name.This is very confusing to say the least...Since I couldn't find a place to specify a bug, I've used this forum.Below is a screenshot for showing how Windows 10 RS3 displays FM2015, FM2017, FM2019 (x64) when I request to change the default for file type .fm.

I tried to update Update 2 today from 15.01The install process fails, my 15.01 version was deleted. My workaround:I reinstalled 15.0 and updated to 15.02 without any problem.

Hi All,I am trying to create pdf manuals using Adobe Framemaker directly by importing xml files.Below are my steps:-     1. Importing XML to FM.     2. Saving the manual generated as PDF.The manual should have well formatted text.I have a well defined xml with numerous tags and images.Question 1: I am not able to format the text from the xml in FrameMaker. How to format the contents in Framemaker?                         After importing all the contents gets left aligned.Question 2: Are there any other wayout to format the manual content except using the top ribbon in framemaker?Question 3: Is it possible to do all the formatting in the xml itself. I've done some Font changes, alignment adjustment for around 100 pages in FM 2019 and saved it. When i opened the document in another system in very next day, the changes are not get reflected? Kindly guide to solve the issue.

We were able to adjust the text and text color/font, without affecting the color of the bullet. However, we can't seem to duplicate this action. These are the settings where it is set up correctly:We must be missing a step but can't seem to figure out what that is. We change the text of the bullet to be blue as well, but here it says multiple.

Hi, I have finally started to seriously test out 64-bit  FM2019, evaluating whether to migrate from FM2015. I find that it takes almost 3 times longer to open and save files, which is prohibitively slow. The files are either structured binaries or XML with a custom application. All files and references are local. Computer details:Dell Latitude laptopWindows 10, 64-bitProcessor - Intel Core i7-7600U CPU @ 2.80 GHzRAM - 16 GbI am running the comparisons with FM2015 installed on the same computer. Does anyone have any thoughts? Is the computer underpowered? FM2019 seems to be working well and I like some of the new features, but I will stay with FM2015 if it means I can open a 100 page file in 6 seconds instead of 15.Thanks,Russ
