Hi all,I am trying to import a customized docbook into FrameMaker.I set up structured application, read-write-rules, EDD succesfully.When I open the XML, it asks for the structured app. to use, and opens as a single .xml file.But I discovered I have to do some XSLT pre-processing, to convert the content of an element to attribute of the parent element. I wrote the xsl conversion, and added it to the structured application for PreProcessing.But now there is no question for the structured app. to use, XML opens as an .fm project, splitting each chapter to a different book, and converting my element names to CamelCase.Why is this change happening? Maybe the DOCTYPE is lost in XSLT?Where can I investigate the intermediate xml created after the XSLT pre-processing?

How can I export the text on an image in Framemaker or Adobe pdf?  I have have the image in both formats.

Hello.I recently started using FrameMaker 2017 and have been playing with the Responsive HTML5 output. After only changing the default settings (STS file) for the header color and logo image, I have noticed a number of discrepancies between the Save as PDF output and the Responsive HTML5 output (multiple layouts):Out-of-document hyperlinks are blue but not functioningOne table is rendered as an image (and the table is numbered as Table b b)Source:Output:Figure numbering is off (multiple Figure 1-1s in the same chapter)This is just what I have noticed after a couple of minutes of playing around...Any advice would be appreciated.JayMessage was edited by: Jay Abramoff

My top level is DOC. Inside that I have BODY, and inside that I have my chapters. The first one is now showing up in the structure as BOOK-COMPONENT. How do I get it back to being a chapter?

Hi,Is there any tool (FrameMaker plug-in) similar to the Clean Import tool that enables you to import a FM new template to an existing book and map tags to the new template tags? And also, delete the old template tags and not append to the existing tags.Is the Clean Import tool available for download now?Thanks!

I am trying to save a Frame Maker file (14) into a pdf but I cannot do it in RGB.I can only save using CYMB format and my colors get messed up.It happens I do not have Adobe Distiller which I think is the problem.Do I haveto purchase Adobe DC in order to get Adobe Distiller or is there any way to get this software somewhere else?

Hi All, I'm developing a book in FrameMaker, and I have an insert to put in between pages 12 and 13. The page numbers of the insert are 12A and 12B, and then I want the document to resume numbering at 13. Currently I am using the pagenum feature from Insert>Headers & Footers>Page Number. However, after pages 12A and 12B, the page number feature numbers the next page as page 15.... how do I get it to resume counting at 13?Thanks!

Hi there,We are using FrameMaker 11 to manage a set of user manuals, more than 5000 pages in total. With the accessibility requirement, the user manuals are required to pass the full accessibility check with Acrobat Pro. We tested many times but a couple of checks always fail, as shown in the report below.Some issues can be resolved in Acrobat; however, it's too difficult to do this for documents of 5000+ pages, and for each monthly release. For example, Issue #3 (figure alt text), we can add alt text for figures in FrameMaker. #1 and #2 are related to links and cross-references, don't know how to resolve it.Could you give some suggestions to resolve these issues efficiently with Acrobat? Or better, resolve it in FrameMaker, once and for all? Thank you in advance.

I have the most bizarre problem with html5 publishing and I can not figure out what is happening.I am publishing a book to html5 from FrameMaker 2019 - 64 bit version. The published material looks ok when viewed in a browser locally, but when viewed online, everything turns to chinese characters like this:https://www.smalbro.dk/soco/ Obviously something about fontsettings/unicode goes awry, but why it looks ok locally but not ok online, I can not understand.Has anybody here experienced this before?Best regardsBjørn

Error message when updating 2019 Framemaker and ultimately un-installed the application

I'd like to try out different skins but I've already customized a settings file as Settings-3. If I click New and change the skin, FM returns message "all changes to the responsive layout will be lost". But if I save it with a different file name, will I be able to switch between settings files to generate HTML?

Hi - is there a way to convert only a specific row or selected rows to text in FM (2015?)The reason I need to do this is because (have numerous instances of)  a repeated header row that then gets tied up with the next table's header in a set of sequencing headers.The only way I have figured out around this is to convert the table to text and reformat the offending table, but the tables are long and detailed, and I really just want to cut out that specific repeating header.Alternatively, what is (is there) a method for converting a header row to a body row? Maybe that would isolate the problem, not certain.Thanks.

I've created a 36"x24" poster in frame12.  When I output to pdf, it comes out blank.  If I shift the contents and make the width 27", the pdf comes out fine.  Is there a way I can create a 36" wide pdf?

I am using FM 2019 32-bit version. I am exploring the Author view (Simplified XML). But every single time I click the "Section" item in the formatting bar, the program crashes.

I'm working on a table that it several pages long and it so far has not been an issue. I tried to add more rows to the table but instead of continuing on to the next page, it began overlapping itself. It also began adding extra rows in a row already created, so the lines are overlapping what I have written in the column. How do I solve these issues? I already tried setting it up to Autoconnect but it didn't work.

Have been creating 4x6 docs for years with no problems. Upgrade to FM 2019 and using the new "Publish" utility with Acrobat DC chops most of the header and part of the footer. Changing vertical size to 6.1" output looks OK, but that's a no-go for our customer. Searched maker.ini and every other settings option I could think of with no luck. Any ideas or unknown setting locations I could test? Thanks very much.

I have long heard and long been told that using structured FrameMaker would reduce translation costs, in part by removing a DTP component, but also because the XML worked (somehow) well with translation memory software.We currently send Word and FrameMaker binary files to SDL for translation.I reached out to SDL to ask about the benefits of XML from FrameMaker, instead, and they said Word files are best, and then FrameMaker binaries, and that XML was less useful. SDL does a lot of translation, so I was surprised to have my preconceived notions rocked this way.Thoughts?Cheers,Sean

I've generated a compiled Microsoft HTML Help file from a multi-document FM book. I've managed to customize the output to generate topics at the level I required, etc. It all works fine except for two points:I can't find how to deactivate the Glossary tab. I've selected "None" as the option for the Glossary Style in the "Other Settings" section in the Publish Settings dialog, but that doesn't deactivate the tab. Any idea how to do this?I'm not getting any results on the Search tab in the compiled help. Is there some action I have to take to activate the search functionality? Or somewhere in FrameMaker where I need to specify the fulltext indexing options? I did a trial publish to HTML5.0, and the search functionality worked no problem, so why is the context not being indexed for searching for HTMLHelp?Thank you for any help.Synnøva O'Gorman
